kirbs84
Was thinking about starting a new show and never saw either of these. Which is better, and do either have "re-watchability?" Are either as addictive as say Lost? Other suggestions welcome.
martyk36
I just started watching the wire and I love it. I've never been into 24 though.

cosmonaut
the wire FTW This. The Wire is my favorite show of all time. It's far more involved than most shows, and it's not always clear what the hell is going on (at least right away). The first two episodes are confusing, and you're not yet sure who's who. There is a huge payoff for sticking with it, though. By the time Omar is introduced in episode 3 things start to click nicely. I'm the world's biggest cheerleader for this show because I think it's just so brilliant.

Guest conoley
The Wire. No contest. I promise you that anyone who says 24 has not watched more than two seasons of the Wire.

kirbs84
Is the wire something you would like to watch more than once? Or is it the type of show that you watch once and that's enough?
Guest conoley
Is the wire something you would like to watch more than once? Or is it the type of show that you watch once and that's enough? I watched it through twice - and I may watch it again in a few years.

suburbanargyle
THE WIRE....no question. Such a great show. I think I'm gonna pick up that blu-ray Band Of Brothers because of the price, I don't have a blu-ray player yet, but that's one I'm gonna want. As a matter of fact, I'm watching part 9 right now. Sound and picture is great.

suburbanargyle
24 I just couldn't get into, I tried during the first season but wasn't into it at all (besides looking at Elisha Cuthbert). The Shield would be a lot better if it were on HBO or Showtime or something, I think it's really held back being on the channel it's on (F/X?) I'm probably slightly biased being from Baltimore, but The Wire is such an awesome show.
justindinealone
the wire. best drama series ever. (comedy obviously goes to arrested development)

skumbucket
holy shit that's a great deal on the wire.... which incidentally is the show everyone should be watching.
danthemjfan23
never seen either of these. i tried watching 24 a couple times, but didn't like it. anybody who has mentioned the shield so far has their head on straight, though. that show is awesome (although i agree with suburbanargyle that it would be better if it were on hbo or showtime). casey
The Wire. I missed it during the original run and have been blowing through the DVDs and have just finished season 4. I love how it doesn't follow traditional television templates by allowing popular characters to be killed off and the moral ambiguity gives it an edge over pretty much any show I've ever seen. Season 4 was amazing- I thought they did such a good job with developing the kids' characters, especially the storylines of Namond and Michael. I'll be curious to see what you think of season 5. I just bought the whole series on the amazon deal. Such a good price.
