markalark17
I thought I remembered a thread about this, but couldn't find it, even using the search thing, and couldn't remember what was said about it. I keep hearing about "Vinyl CDs", and can't figure what they are. Is it like a CD on one side and vinyl on the other? Help me out, here? Thanks! Also, if anyone can find the other thread, let me know.
adamlikesmusic
One side is CD, one side is vinyl. "Vinyldisc".
markalark17
One side is CD, one side is vinyl. "Vinyldisc". Huh. Wouldn't playing it in a CD player scratch the vinyl?
adamlikesmusic
It's very thin. Sounds pretty bad. And it wouldn't necessarily scratch the vinyl. It's almost the same width as a normal CD.
jedstah
Fightstar was the first ever band to release one..
markalark17
Weird. Do you have any? What do you use to put it on the spindle?
adamlikesmusic
The Fightstar came with a foam adapter.

jedstah
Weird. Do you have any? What do you use to put it on the spindle? No, but you can still buy them.. http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1&sku=738907 I think they are limited to 4000. And maybe autographed...but I'm not totally certain on this.
adamlikesmusic
They're all autographed. And limited to 4000. And as I said before, they come with a foam adapter.
gravitylovesdrunks
ahaha only a terrible band has to do something like autograph 4000 discs to get them to sell.
counterfiction
as a side note, select stores will have bonus CDs for the upcoming Mars Volta record that are like that. just a heads up.
Guest vito
prurient is releasing a cd + 5" in a couple of weeks but not like this pointless stuff. no clue how anyone thought releasing a "vinyldisc" would be a good idea.

rafter242
Ok, I bought the Fightstar disc. (I thought it would be cool to have the first one, as I also have the first ever LP pressed) Autographed and paid more for shipping than the disc. But it sounds terrible doesn't even start to describe it. No fidelity. Sounds like Fred Flintstone playing a stone record with that crazy bird's beak. adamlikesmusic
I did tell you guys it sounded bad. (Both the band, as well as the quality.)

clagstein
I have a Paramore one. Can't play it though, as I can't get it to sit right for playing. Not that I like the band so much, but the concept got me so stoked! I reckon it would work great for Powerviolence or Grindcore bands, as the quality isn't the number 1 priority.
