thomas
I just realized I have not seem one of this movies, which one do you all recommend I start with?
murakami
Princess Mononoke is my favorite.
jhulud
Studio Ghibli can do no wrong in my book as far as their releases. I'd recommend in this kinda order: My Neighbor Totoro Laputa: Castle In The Sky Nausica of the Valley of the Wind Kiki's Delivery Service Porco Rosso Grave of the Fireflies Princess Mononoke Spirited Away Howl's Moving Castle Whisper of the Heart The Cat Returns (it's a sorta sequel to Whisper...) Pom Poko (this one was odd...if you see it, you'll see why) A lot of people dismiss these films as geared towards children b/c of the style of animation and also some of the subject matter. In actuality, these films appeal to adults as well b/c of the stories and subject matters. There's always a deep message/moral in each one. I was so glad when Disney made a deal w/ Ghibli to release all the films Stateside.

monk0nuggets
Wait. You love anime and you've never seen a Studio Ghibli film? How did this happen? My faves in order: Spirited Away Princess Mononoke Howl's Moving Castle Laputa: Castle In The Sky My Neighbor Totoro Porco Rosso Grave of the Fireflies Pom Poko Kiki's Delivery Service Nausicaa Tales of Earthsea I haven't seen Whisper or The Cat Returns, but they are both on my netflix cue. Seriously amazing movies. Some of my all time faves honestly.

murgorgoroth
Grave of the Fireflies Most heart-wrenching movie I have ever watched. seriously, this movie = pain But I think that's why it's my favorite out of all the Ghibli movies. I don't think I have seen any other animated film that confronts tragedy this effectively.

jhulud
I may be a jaded asshole, but Grave definitely stirred the emotions and pulled the heartstrings and I actually got weepy at the end. Rarely happens w/ a film or series.
Guest drahtuos
my favorite three would include in this order. nausicaä of the valley of the wind kiki's delivery service and spirited away i highly recommend all three. this coming from a man who considers himself somewhat a connoisseur of anime. adamlikesmusic
Spirited AwayHowl's Moving Castle I'm not one for this type of movie, but I saw both of these when they were released in theaters with English dubbing. I enjoyed them. I know nothing about any of the others, though.
