ineedamedic
i'm new to the boards, and pretty new to vinyl collecting in general just wondered if you guys could give me any tips on how not to be an asshole? i'm not really sure where to get a good idea for what an album is selling for, i don't want to give ridiculously low bids for stuff, and i also don't want to screw myself by bidding too high also any etiquette i should know about thanks ahead of time
adammuzzy
if you really have no clue what it's worth, try asking for a range of prices they'd accept.

markalark17
www.popsike.com is pretty good for old eBay auctions. Or you could just go to the completed auctions at the eBay site. Whichever. Also, reckless.com (Reckless Records in Chicago) has a good selection of records, as well as some out of print stuff. I've bought a fair amount from there. Welcome to the board! bouncingsoles123
Just buy what you are into, collect what you are into. Usually if you low ball someone on something you are not sure about just tell em you are knew. Usually what tells the price of the record is if it is in or out of print (OOP = out of print, in case you didnt know) OOP is obv rarer. The run of the record usually can drive up the record, for example if you want to get from No Idea records and you see /3, that means the run is of three and is going to cost you some greens (if you can fucking find it) Of course the popularity of the band/record label will drive up prices. NOFX records and most Fat Wreck records are pricey and difficult to get (again depending on the run) Don't be afraid of sounding stupid, because we were all there and willing to help a new guy.
