darronibaloney
First heard this a few weeks ago. Really solid album. I really dig the dirty fuzz guitars.
kriss
Yeah man, it's great stuff. Definitely has that same feel guitar wise as the early DGC era Sonic Youth records - this album is certainly proof of the 20 year cycle theory in terms of sounds and trends, but it does a good job in the process. Guest
one of my favorite albums this year. saw them back in may, and it was incredible how much cleaner they sounded than the 3 bands that played before them. the wall <3333333333
itmustbereal
Probably my favorite album of the year. I've listened to it a million times and the guitar on this album is super good.
kidamnesiac
Really great album. Kirby Puckett turned me on to it earlier in the year. I feel like so many albums that I have enjoyed this year have played on the nostalgia lover in me. There's a deluxe version out now that has a bunch of bonus tracks that is great. kirbypuckett
I love this record so much! They're kind of dull live, but man, that album, so goooooooood. I'll have to get those b-sides.
scottheisel
Super-boring live but the songs are great. Anyone who likes this record should check out "This Afternoon's Malady" by Jejune. It's pretty much the same record only it came out in 1998.
nothingnatural
I bought their s/t when it came out. I dig it, reminds me of the 90s and that's always a huge plus. There's a deluxe version out now that has a bunch of bonus tracks that is great. Well son of a bitch. Guess I'll have it buy it again. steventangent
I really like this record, but I just can't bring myself to check out a band with the name "The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart."

nothingnatural
I don't plan on getting rid of it. Sorry. Pretty easy to acquire through Discogs, eBay, local store etc etc.

kriss
Pains has a pretty awful name but it's no worse than My Bloody Valentine or something else. They have that Black Tambourine/C86 sound going for sure which I'm always a sucker for. Brave Irene is another band on the Slumberland label that should be checked out if Yuck has that appeal to any of you.
mdb
Yuck won me over when I saw them open for Smith Westerns back toward the beginning of the year and I've been listening to their record regularly ever since. It's solid from start to finish and I really thought they'd be huge by now. Smith Westerns, on the other hand, were beyond terrible.

Saw one of those rich, entitled little trolls at a Puffy Areolas/Running show back in the Winter standing at the door talking about blah blah blah with needing money to go on tour. Go back to the suburbs kid. For a truly great laugh, check some of the completely pompous crap they spout off - http://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/smith-westerns-chicago-question-and-answer/Content?oid=3306474

Their playing/singing was awful too, and between every song the singer would beg the crowd to hook him up with drugs after the show. As I left, I basically felt like I'd been stuck sitting next to a bunch of scene kids in the mall food court. But anyway....Yuck! So good! kirbypuckett
I wasn't digging the latest record from The Paints of Being Pure at Heart, but that first one was solid. Also check out the new Male Bonding album, their first one is good too, but the new one is similar to this Yuck record.
kriss
Haven't heard the new Male Bonding, but their last one (Nothing Hurts) is really solid and noisy- what Wavves should have sounded like.
kirbypuckett
I dunno, "King of the Beach" is near perfect for that sound. The new Male Bonding is less low-fi, kinda like the new Pains of Being Pure at Heart, but more 90s-ish and generally better imo.
kriss
I loved the King of The Beach record, but I still like the first two records more and Male Bonding's last record definitely reminds me of those two. I've not heard many great things about the new Pains record so I'm sticking to their debut.
justaminrthreat
I liked the songs I heard by Yuck, but I went to see them live a couple months ago and they bored me. I dunno...maybe I'll get the album and check it out.
