How NOT to package records

I am still astounded that there are so-called collectors out there sending out records in fuckin' bubble mailers! Without any cardboard or anything to "sandwich" the record(s) in between...just threw the record in and mailed it...

And not even a note or warning outside to say "Fragile" or "Do Not Bend"...

At least the record arrived in Ok shape...the sleeve is a little bent and dinged up...and the record itself is fine...

I was stewing...I came home for lunch and as I was about to walk out the door, I heard the mailman throw the damn thing on our bench that it's in our porch...with another package (a small box with a 430-page book in it) on top of the record...

Grrreat...

Now I have to get creative with the eBay feedback I'm going to leave this guy...

i'm shocked how anyone could think that it would be alright to mail an lp like. glad to hear it turned up alright considering how these packages just get tossed around. just today i received two 7"'s that were sent in a cardboard mailer inside a bubble mailer, which i thought was pretty good of the guy.

my advice: find someone who lives near the sender and, forcefully, teach him how to send out a record.

this is a completely dumb question...but outside the sleeve?

explain so i dont make a mistake...i usually get an lp mailer and wrap the record in bubble wrap. just to make sure nothing moves around...

You just take the record and paper sleeve and put it outside of the sleeve, but both within plastic sleeve.

I've gotten a couple like that recently. Needless to say I was NOT happy about it. Just ask my girlfriend.

Yeah, from that same motherfucker on ebay who sent me Jets To Brazil! I saw your name in his feedback.

He's going to refund my money, because mine was trashed.

You'd think he would think to ship it differently.

ive recieved a few records like this

what is the purpose of taking it out of the sleeve?

It's supposed to reduce ring wear and seam splits. But I've always been worried about the record getting scratched. But I've never shipped a record, soo...

I guess I'm more concerned about scratching the record. I would prefer people shipped in the sleeve. I can deal with a seam split but if the record is scratched that really sucks.

I guess I'm not as much of a "collector" as some of you though. I buy records to listen to them. Of course I want the package to look nice but that's secondary.

Which is why I wrap it in newspaper. Keeps it from getting scratched.

what do you mean, between Ronnie's and mine? They were done about about the same time. Probably even shipped on the same day.

I had a JAY REATARD 12" sent to me without any kind of support backing or anything, or a "fragile-do not bend" stamp, nothing... when i opened it, the record was in about 8 pieces, and it was sold out by the time i got it..luckily i was reimbursed, but still. you would think a record label that sends out records on a large basis, would learn to take the record out, and place piece of backing board on either side to reduce the amount of damaged records that people recieve.

Funny (I wish) story... Back when I worked at a small mom and pop record store we would order direct from Victory. I shit you not, they put a stack of records IN THE BOTTOM OF A BOX and then threw maybe 10 shirts and some other cds and shit on top if the records and mailed it out. Luckily, the only item that ended up being damaged was a clear pink copy of Thursday's Full Collapse that was at the far bottom. It had a huge spider shaped crack on one half and was luckily still in one piece.

hey i think you sent me a message on ebay a little bit ago concerning this guy as well. i guess i'm lucky that my records came up in good shape, but it's just morainic to ship in a padded mailer like that.
