Question for Chicago area folk

Recommended Posts

I can't really attest to the punk selections of these stores but I'm pretty sure any Reckless location has a sufficient punk selection except maybe the Madison st. place because its so small they can barely fit very much of any genre and it is favored toward classic rock through modern rock but there are plenty of genres crammed in. I never really look in the Punk sections. Permanent Records is probably pretty decent on punk as well.

Reckless on Broadway is probably the biggest record store in general in the area and definitely the biggest of its three locations so there's probably plenty of Punk to look through. Dusty Groove is nice as hell but mostly a Jazz oriented store.

DefinItely hit up at least two of the reckless stores; Mikwaukee and broadway. I use to live right behind the one on Milwaukee. . It's great. Probably my favorite record store.

There's also a pretty nice shop in Lincoln Square called Laurie's Planet of Sound: some punk, lots of cheap old records, and a good selection of newer stuff. This place also has a ton of great old horror movies.
