Guest
Why do these cost so much?
jos464
Because people will pay it.
mr. sincere
Because people will pay it. I'm definitely in the minority, but I won't. These should not be priced as collectors items. They're records, and they're the same records that used to cost $10 through Epitaph mailorder and in stores (including Hot Topic). OK, that was 10-15 years ago, but has that much really changed that these need to cost $23?? Fine if so, but I'm curious as to why. Because people want them? Because the originals are sought after? Because the vinyl is now on cool colors instead of boring black? This just seems really out of control. In a way, I can't blame some record labels for getting in on the game, now that they're finally able to cash in a little bit on these bands since their fans are finally adults with jobs. It just sucks that "making records available again" now actually means squeezing the pockets of the people who want them most. EDIT: Also, I just defined capitalist market theory in a thread about NOFX records. My early college self is spinning in his grave. mitchard

Add to that the fact that if you wait a little, you can save $5-$7 on these same records (albeit on different colors) by ordering from KRM directly. Just seems silly to pay the higher Hot Topic prices.

EDIT: Also, I just defined capitalist market theory in a thread about NOFX records. My early college self is spinning in his grave. Most of these records are $15.99 from KRM. That seems pretty reasonable to me. As for Hot Topic's prices, they have to endure additional costs associated with putting the record out that Epitaph doesn't. Being $4-6 more expensive isn't completely out of line.
+hecollec+or
Please let todays releases stay in stock till Friday.
aflycon
Here's hoping that the new NOFX LPs won't be $22.50 in-store, but I know they will be. Fuck $22.50, man.
SmokedDecline
Is The HT Punk in Drublic cover pink instead of Olive? If someone goes to a store today can you see if it's a an olive or pink background on the cover?
aflycon
It should be olive - all of the LP versions have been olive. If it's pink, that would suggest they sourced the artwork from what they used for the CD. I will be going into my local HT today, so I'll check and let you know. SmokedDecline
Thanks. Seemed like a stock pic but had to check. The indie store version is olive too. A cover & color variant probably would get me to grab a second copy.
aflycon
On a lighter note, the brown SLATFATS does look really cool. I was hoping for translucent pink on Punk in Drublic, though. Oh well.

+hecollec+or
I'm so jealous of you guys who have Hot Topic's that actually stock vinyl. The closest to me is a couple hours away. C'mon Oakdale Mall in Vestal NY, if you guys stock vinyl you'd get $50-$100 every week or two from me
aflycon
Did they have them at your local store today? I haven't been in yet, but I will in the next couple of hours. They never got copies of Ribbed as far as I know, so I'm concerned about them getting copies of these two.

The translucent brown SLATFATS looks rad. I like that they did Punk In Drublic on an opaque hot pink rather than a translucent pink though. aflycon
Here's an update for everyone: The webstore is down to: 47 copies of Ribbed 12(!) copies of Punk in Drublic 34 copies of SLATFATS Shit, Punk in Drublic sold fast. The translucent brown SLATFATS looks rad. I like that they did Punk In Drublic on an opaque hot pink rather than a translucent pink though. It does look cool, I just think translucent would look cooler - I really did like the trans pink No Control.

aflycon
No worries, man. Good luck getting some. I'd pick up extras if I could, but I'm getting stretched thin by these prices already. Call a store and see if they can hold some copies until Friday!
+hecollec+or
Thanks, I would call but no where in a 100+ mile radius is there a HT that stocks vinyl. I hear ya bout the prices. A couple more years and these will probably get pressed again.
Rapidfiretollbooth
God damn Punk in Drublic sold fast but at the same time Im not surprised. Intrigued to see how WTTHAAB and AOCTW do next week.
