So excited to get this record

It's a 64 hardcover page book with artwork, stories, and lyrics to the Afterman. It also has the two Afterman records in it on these metallic gold and silver colors. It's pretty sweet...but it sold out. It was limited to 3,000. http://modlife.com/coheedandcambria/limiteddeluxe

I wouldn't go as far as calling it hate but maybe initial disappointment. I still think it's good in a musical sense but just not something I see myself wanting to go back to much. Expectations were high and maybe they shouldn't have been since as a lot of people might say - "It's just pop punk." When I listen to pop punk, I do it to get pumped up and sing along. I just don't see that happening for me with this album although I will be giving it many more chances. I was instantly into USAD and was hoping to get that same feeling with this album. I think you are going to see a lot of mixed reviews on this one and I can understand why.

After initially shunning both NWFT and YOTBR I can safely say those albums are both underrated and is just because how amazing their initial three albums were. That being said...The Afterman is my new favorite Coheed release and has reinvigorated my interest in their more recent albums. Let's hope for some nice surprise(s) on RSD!

Agree w/ those demos and yes to YOTB as far as I know. You should be able to find one for around $25 I'm sure.

I was very skeptical about the song when I first heard it and I think it rules now. I initially found it hard to believe it was a Coheed song. I definitely don't think the song is "upbeat" although the chorus and the number countdown towards the end may lead listeners to believe otherwise. Everything else about the song is extremely dark sounding to me. Hollywood on Ascension is kind of similar in that sense...I just think Coheed has been killing it with the choruses on the Afterman. Anyways, Number City is definitely a grower and I had my friend listen to the album and that was his favorite song. From what I understand, some dude attempted to poison Meri and a cop saved her. They then fell in love because Sirius was gone and she thought he was dead. I guess Sirius was pretty shocked when he found out and it created this shocking Coheed song! The chaos and confusion of the song goes pretty well with the scene you described and somehow they made it all work.

Agreed...USAD songs left me wanting to sing along and I don't think I'll ever get that feeling with this album. I've already listened to it twice and I don't feel myself wanting to listen to it again. My favorite is "Right Here" as that is the only one that I feel sticking in my mind and could find myself going back to.

I think the purpose of the response was that you have confirmed what we are all thinking after reading the OP - you're going to have to shell out more money than your $30 tag to get these records. Good luck and hope you find some bargains!
