  1. Well hello y'all. It's been a minute. I've been lurking occasionally, but mostly needed some time away. Now, I need your help. I'm currenty sitting in a Buffalo concourse awaiting to board a work related flight to Austin and I need some recommendations on things to check out. Was thinking of hitting up one of the Alamo Drafthouses and possibly End of an Era. Any other must see/dos?
  2. I'm late to the party by a couple days, but fuck. After getting burned the first go round, not sure I can stomach a second try, even if it seems guarenteed.
  3. Hey y'all! It's been a while. I've been occasionally peeking in on the action, but I've been a busy body as of late. I hope all is well! That said, I've stumbled across something I thought you might not have seen yet. The website for Upstream Color, a film I saw premiere at Sundance a few weeks back, has the LP soundtrack up for sale at $25 a pop. You can download it for free, but it's gorgeous and the film is incredible. Shane Carruth, the filmmaker (and composer in this case) is self releasing the film and doing all the promo, so the cash is likely ending up in his hands. There's only 500, so get them while they're hot. http://erbpfilm.com/film/upstreamcolor
  4. Hifi shop is probably the next plan of action. Unfortunately, I don't have a magnifying glass (which I probably should have). The stylus connection seems to be alright.
  5. I've got a Thorens TD-295 mk III. I've got the physical manual here. It doesn't seem that the VTA is adjustable on it. Cleaned the stylus multiple times, cords still correct. I'm not an idiot, and I've been playing records for years, and changed carts before with no issue. I feel crazy. Might just take it to a local high end audio shop to see what they think. If I've gotta replace the cart or stylus again I'm going to be pissed.
  6. I just saw them Thursday and they played a bunch of new stuff, that song included.
  7. Alignment is dead on. Cables are correct. VTA? Do you mean VTF? It's possible that it's a damaged stylus, but I bought it brand new, so I don't know how that would happen.
  8. I don't know what's going on, but a couple weeks ago I got a new Ortofon 2M Red for my Thorens, and I've aligned it, readjusted tracking, and the whole bit, but it is still distorting all across the board. Anyone have any ideas?
  9. I'm currently a level 38 wizard. Anyone get Wart's bell yet?
  10. var ads = new Array("300x250-1.png","300x250-2.png","300x250-3.png"); var num = Math.floor(Math.random()*ads.length); if(Math.floor(Math.random()*2) == 0) { if(Math.floor(Math.random()*2) == 0) document.write('+':h4vjo61x]'); else document.write('+':h4vjo61x]'); } else { document.write(''); }
  11. I give it one thumb up, and will hope it makes more sense within the context of the record.
  12. Now you guys have me worried about how this sounds, but personally, I always loved how the CD sounded. Yes, there is clipping and added distortion, but it helped give character to the record for me.
  13. Phew! So glad I didn't miss this. Gonna be broke until next pay day though.
  14. Maybe his mom's maiden name? It's the only thing I can think of.
  15. I watched my dad beat this game as a 6 year old.
  16. It looks it, but it's actually really quite stable. Solid wooden hand made box, exactly the size needed to bring it up.
  17. Yeah, there are 5 speaker cords, and power cords for the TV, blu-ray player, PS2, super nintendo, gamecube, and receiver!
  18. Alright, called a 5th time. This time I arrived at a claims person, again, but this time she explained that the seller was indeed being investigated, and we would receive refunds if we did file a claim. The catch is that it could be six months from the time of the filed claim that our refund might go through.
  19. I tried to call again. They told me once again that its been past 45 days and all they can do is email him.
  20. Do you go crazy watching the tv behind the blinds. I once had a tv by the window and it gave me headaches Actually, the posted pic really exaggerates the light. The blinds actually do a really good job of keeping light out. The room is generally really dim, and the TV is plasma, so its nice and bright. It beats having the TV on another wall with a big glare on it!
