Toothgrinder forthcoming album Nocturnal Masquerade, is exactly the kinda ripper than made us love this band in the first place: it has all the syncopated, flagellating insanity you’d expect, but it also has moments of quiet, seething melody. If the song were a famous cinema serial killer, it would be more Hannibal Lecter, less Jason Voorhees: okay, sure, it’s gonna skin you alive and then wear that skin as a costume, parading around as some horrifying parody of you, but it has a really intelligent, super-creepy plan for how to go about breaking into your home, accomplishing its dirty deed, and escaping without leaving behind any evidence. It’s that kind of song.
