  1. To me it's only considered flipping when you buy something just to turn around and sell it for a profit. Kind of the same concept of flipping a house for a profit. You buy a house never intendening to live in it but instead want to "flip" it to someone else for more than you paid.

    This.

The profit doesn't matter to me, it's whether or not you bought something just to turn around and sell it. The intent pisses me off more than the profit amount because that item could have ended up in a real fans hands instead of that of someone with no interest in it whatsoever outside of possibly making money on it.

  2. Boooo

When Timbaland is at his best, he's amazing. His stuff with Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Missy Elliott, and the first two JT albums are unfuckwithable as far as 2000s pop goes. Also, 75% of Shock Value is musically awesome. Maybe an unpopular opinion, but he gets a bad rap for no reason IMHO.

I can dig someone else having a different opinion on his work. It's just that for me it all seems to sound the same. Sometimes I like his style and sometimes it just gets my eyes to glaze over, ya know? Almost like too much of it at once maybe?

Take for example the song Come Around by MIA. Produced by Timbaland and it's the only track on Kala that is. So when I hear the record, I'm ok with that one track sounding "like Timbaland's usual stuff" because the rest of the record doesn't.

  3. I just started my vinyl collection and have 9 so far, 6 new 3 used.  I should start with a new vinyl or used first? and what will be the sound difference?

    thanks

Like the (helpful) posts in this thread have said, it depends on a couple of things. For example, I've got some Queen original pressings that I bought because they were in good shape and they sound fantastic. I've got some re-issues that I bought brand new that sound great too. So unless it's something where the original version is notorious for sounding bad, then go for the lesser expensive one that it's in good shape.

  4. I dont own too many third man records but on my recent trip to Nashville I visited the store. It was a real cool experience. They have a machine in there that makes a wax guitar. Photo booth etc. I was dissapointed with the size and merch of the store but I was still over joyed to be there.

I'm going to Nashville on business in a few weeks, I'm excited to hit up Third Man and Grimeys.

  5. Is it really being sold as a "masterpiece" though?  I mean, he's been EVERYWHERE promoting it, but it's because he's a huge star who's the rare combo of being insanely popular/marketable and actually good.  It's been really overhyped, and people are definitely raving about how good it is, but I don't think many people one here (or maybe in general) would call it a masterpiece.  Maybe I'm wrong.  I really like it, but it's definitely not perfect. Not even close.

Ah. I didn't mean to insinuate that anyone on here was selling it as a masterpiece.
