Have y'all seen Shinya Tsukamoto's (Tetsuo the Iron Man amongst others) Haze (2005)?  It’s stupid short (like 45 minutes if you ignore the title card and credits time) but is intensely claustrophobic and anxiety inducing.  Which, you know, recommended.

I've only seen Tetsuo for whatever reason, but this is a good reminder to look more into his work!

lol - I liked that one! Mostly the costume/makeup work though.

Funny!  I think the polish was a bit of a problem for me as well.  The rest looked like they were actually filmed on VHS and the 3rd one was really clean.  I'm guessing you've seen it, but you might like Frankenstein's Army.  3rd segment reminded me of that a bit.

How was V/H/S/94??  Been really excited about it.  3rd one wasn’t great but those first 2 are so unbelievably good.

I watched it last night and feel pretty mixed about it.  Liked two of the shorts, downright hated one and thought one was ok, but overstayed its welcome.    The wrap around was a bit of a dud too.  Still better than the 3rd one though.

  4. I've really liked the two Midnight Mass episodes I've seen.  I don't like watching more than 1 episode of anything a day, so it'll probably take me the rest of the week to finish it, but I'm pretty excited for the next ep.  The desolate seatown is a nice change from the big houses of Bly/Hill House.  Small aside, the sound design really messes with my dog, especially the bird sounds.  He normally doesn't register TV at all, but this seems to get his attention.

  5. Had a mostly good movie weekend!

Candyman (2021) - It has a bit of a rocky third act, but overall I liked it quite a bit.  It's also gorgeous.  The framing, cinematography and especially locations.

Gaia - Surreal eco-body horror, I dug it

Demonic - This was pretty bad, but also dumb enough that it was amusing.  Blomkamp is turning out to be quite the one hit wonder.

Prisoners of the Ghostland - I don't even know what to say about this.  It's so bizarre and entertaining.  Worth a watch if you like out there cinema.
