  1. Yeah. Proud to be able to continue my annual Riot Fest tradition of beating traffic by leaving before the headliners start.
  2. New Chicago acts are System of a Down, Prodigy, 88 Fingers Louie, and Chef's Special. They've also added a new(?) $950 Super VIP option that includes an air conditioned lounge, free WiFi/device charging, live streams from all stages, and an open bar/snacks. How much can you drink?
  3. "limited to 2000" Pretty sure they haven't pressed more than 1000 copies of any of their previous albums. That said, I'll probably pick up a copy when they come through town.
  4. Last year's VIP areas looked a little better than 2013 (in terms of sight lines), but now it's an all new spot, so who knows. This year adds big screens in the VIP areas, but cuts down to 7 drink tickets. Doesn't seem remotely close to a $300 value, to me. Location speculation, ahoy. I'm guessing they'll be using the portion of Douglas Park south of Ogden, which looks smaller than last year's site, but bigger than the older HP site. Judging from Google Maps, I can see them fitting two, maybe three smaller stages in the perimeter trees, and a bunch of bigger stages in the central open area.
  5. Jesus, how many fucking Marleys are out there?
  6. Looking forward to the almost-assured Drive Like Jehu show. I hope Riot Fest keeps with their tradition of having bad headliners; it's great to be able to run home and clean up before heading to the after-shows.
  7. "So we started by pressing Langhorne Slim & The Law’s record “The Way We Move.” We called their label, told them what we were doing, and we bought 12 copies wholesale." Uh, that's not pressing a record. "So on a more personal level, how do you continue to grow your musical pallet." The future of journalism, ladies and gents!
  8. Need some cash in the old PayPal account today. Add $4 for shipping domestic, contact me for international. One person who buys from me today will have a random test pressing inserted with their purchase. Anberlin - Blueprints for the Black Market 12" /1000. $60 Anberlin - Feel Good Drag black 7". $10 Eluvium - Catalin 12" /300. $55 Further Seems Forever - Hide Nothing black 12". $35 Sainthood Reps - Monoculture white 12" /100. $40
  9. Wild to see them committing to it with such a low funding threshold. Bit more than I'd want to pay, but I may pick it up closer to the end of the campaign.
  10. Man, this crowdfunding model really is a runaway train, never coming back.
  11. Just noticed this myself, and it made me laugh. The 'Wollard's Fancy Collards' on the A-side isn't nearly as funny.
  12. Going to Kind of Like Spitting tomorrow night and Two Cow Garage on Saturday night. Anybody else?
  13. So, I don't know if this is a known example of Ross Shadiness, or if this is new; it's so hard to remember with this douchebag. Apparently Ross was looking into pressing a Scary Kids Scaring Kids record. The license deal didn't work out, but that didn't stop Ross from making test presses, which he's now selling on the side.
  14. Whoa, why's this so complicated? Should't the 100 push-up challenge just involve doing 100 push-ups every day?
  15. This is the correct answer. Also, don't fly Spirit. Ever. If you're looking to go to Tampa, don't forget to search the Orlando, St Pete's/Clearwater, and Sarasota airports as well. They're all pretty close to each other, and you might finder better prices at one of the others. Shit, you should also check flights leaving from Flint or Lansing. When NW had Detroit on lockdown, you could often find better prices leaving from the surrounding cities.
