smeepo replied to futre's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I like POZ. It makes me feel a little bit more in the loop with Brand New and occasionally music. -

I'm also a fan of how all the variants look. Come on Rise, now release them individually! -

The mini disc, eh? Weren't those almost a thing in the early 2000's? -

You'd think. Except Rainbo could also cut corners on quality to keep the costs of high-volume production down, since a lot of people who buy vinyl buy it for the novelty of being vinyl and either a ) won't actually listen to it. or b ) listen to records in a cheap turntable. Those people will buy vinyl regardless of how it comes off the press. I don't think the bigger labels (Rise, Hopeless, Fearless) care too much about how their vinyl releases sound since they throw majority of their releases on vinyl these days, and I highly doubt they use analog masters. -

I just dropped $50 on Interpunk, but I'll check them out. Thanks! Vinyl is truly a never-ending struggle... these guys are good. -

I managed to get a 1st press copy on black like a year ago from Interpunk. It's really cool that this is being repressed. It's a quality record. -

I just ordered this off Interpunk with a bunch of other stuff. I payed $13.75 for a vinyl copy with a CD. A stand alone CD was $12. Madness. -

I liked Adventures' S/T, but I haven't listened to anything since then. The new track they released seems to be heading in a different sort of the same direction... if that makes sense at all. I never heard Run Forever before. They're good. I'm pretty stoked to receive this from the NSR 2014 sub! -

So looking forward to having DTBM and DTBM2 on vinyl. -
I wish there was a local release of this! It's one of my favorite post-hardcore releases ever. I'm not really surprised that it sounds bad. The original CD recordings sounded terrible, and you can't make shit shine. (Okay, so you can, but I mean... you're not going to make poor recordings sound better by "remastering" them.) EDIT: Or maybe it actually is possible to make bad recordings sound good... I am astonished by how much better the remastered tracks sound. I stand corrected.

Fuckin' USPS' Network Distribution Centers: the thread.
smeepo replied to moonbeams's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I dropped off a Came Out Swinging 7 inch at a drop off box for a guy on this forum in June with a printed label. Somehow, USPS never received it. The shipping information to this day has not been updated, it still says "electronic shipping info received." I called my local post office a few weeks after it happened, expecting a call back from the lady who said she would investigate it, I never got one. It was really frustrating because I wasn't backed by paypal buying/selling protection due to the funds having been sent via gift. So was out $20 and a rather rare record. I feel like someone stole it or it is still in the drop off box because the mail carriers are supposed to scan packages when they pick them up. So the guy may have forgot to scan it and it's lost somewhere... either way it sucks. -
Thanks! I was expecting an orange one, but black is cool too!

Best/Worst Customer Service from a Distro/Label?
smeepo replied to silentgods's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Deathwish has been the best to me, but they're the only distributor I had an issue with. It wasn't even their fault. I ordered the PBTT/TA split when it was up for preorder, and my copy came with a defect on the B-side. They replaced it, no questions asked and completely free of charge. I've also ordered numerous records from; No Sleep Interpunk RevHQ Run For Cover Records All of which have been solid. The only not-so solid distributor has been MerchNOW, and they don't actually do anything "wrong" except update my shipping status. It's always "Processed and awaiting shipment." Even months after I have received an item, it remains the same. I've also ordered from Amazon and eBay. Experience varied depending on seller, but I never had a negative experience with any of them. My only negative experience was with someone on VC. I sold a 7inch of "Came Out Swinging" to someone and USPS lost the package. Months later, it hasn't updated shipping info and hasn't been found. My post office was going to look into it and call me back, but never did. At this point, I assume someone stole it. -

I'd hate to see how much it would cost if it were a full 12 inch LP... -
PO: Polar Bear Club - Death Chorus
smeepo replied to IanRees's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I'm a fan of Death Chorus just as much as I am a fan of their previous album. I miss the gritty vocals, but it's still PBC in every other way. I get why some people don't like it, but I mean at least it's not Young New England. -
No Sleep Records 2014 Vinyl Sub
smeepo replied to tokimedo's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I hear ya. I like how they make hardcore music that's almost metalcore, and put a not completely generic spin on it. There was something fresh sounding about #TeamUK and Heartless when they came out. Maybe it was the accents. I dunno.- 202 replies

No Sleep Records 2014 Vinyl Sub
smeepo replied to tokimedo's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I can understand why someone would say that about TRC. When No Sleep signed them, I was still kinda in my br00talcore phase of life, and I was like "hey, this isn't that bad." Several months later, I feel the same way. They remind me of early Asking Alexandria done in a fashion that doesn't completely suck. It's nothing to get excited about. However, I think if kids in the US actually heard them, they might develop a relatively loyal fan base. Look what happened to Neck Deep. They're a generic, nothing special band (with one good acoustic song featuring a female vocalist) that sounds like Forever Came Calling smashed into The Story So Far and Stick to Your Guns. And then the release of Rain in July made everyone on Tumblr go ape shit about them, and boom. US Tour. But nothing Neck Deep is doing is new or exciting in the slightest. It just so happens that the kids like it. TRC could be the next band to blow up. Why not? They made it.- 202 replies

I was hoping that they would do this. I'm really just trying to get DTBM 1 and 2, and possibly Royal Ocean. I disliked their other albums and the one they just released.
