  1. They haven't cancelled mine yet. The product page is also back up saying "item is temporarily unavailable...blah blah blah". Yesterday, the product page wasn't there and if you clicked on it through your order page, it would show an error. My guess is that they will fulfill some of the pre-orders. I don't know if they fill them based on order time or if it is just random. I ended up getting my Drive pre-order from them but did not get my Maniac pre-order. It's a crapshoot, really.
  2. Kinda surprised the LPs are still available based on the comments I've seen in the past about how these things sell out in a matter of minutes. Maybe that is more applicable to the prints. Is the production run higher on this LP release?
  3. I'm 1 out of 2 with Amazon on Mondo releases. They were able to fulfill by Drive soundtrack pre-order (pink variant version which was cool) but they eventually cancelled by Maniac pre-order (that was just recently, like in the past 2 weeks). I'm guessing they will cancel the Halloween pre-orders. I've never seen them actually remove a listing before. Normally they just say "temporarily out of stock" or something like that. I hope that they can fill the orders but I'm not hopeful now.
  4. I got a package a few weeks back that I should have taken pictures of. For starters, it was Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush" album that I bought off ebay. It was listed as a double LP which is a bit odd since it is most definitely not a double. This was the first clue something was off. It was listed in NM condition. Hmmm, OK, we'll see. Clue #2. The picture showed 2 LPs so I figured what the hell, let's see what the bonus LP is. I paid $4.25 for it and it had free shipping! Clue #3. It arrives and is packed in a layer of bubblewrap and wrapped in brown construction paper. I open it and sure enough, there are 2 LPs inside, one of "After the Gold Rush" and one of "Rust Never Sleeps" (my favorite Neil Young album), neither in a paper sleeve and both just beat to hell. I figure it was worth the $4.25 I paid just on the off chance that the records were in OK shape and that the extra LP was any good.
  5. 7" ones are OK this way, but definitely not the 12" ones. 10" ones are kind of in the middle so it just kind of depends on the mood you're in..
  6. The source for these vinyl resissues are the DSD files created by Bob Ludwig (I believe in 2002). I'm not clear if they are going to be remastered again specifically for these releases or if they will use the prior master. I have not heard the prior Stones DSD vinyl releases but I've read that they have been cleaned up quite a bit (could be good or bad depending on what you like). I've also read several reviews saying that there wasn't much, if any, loss of quality in sound from the original source since the quality wasn't perfect to begin with. But to answer your question - yes, the source is digital, not analog. Also, I believe that the Bob Ludwig DSD releases only go up to Sticky Fingers so no re-re-re-release of Exile...yet.
  7. The double-edged sword of sealed records: you can get a new record with the possibility of it being damaged, or you can buy a "new" open record that may or may not have been played a ton of times with a crappy stylus.
  8. Store I normally go to opened at 10am. I had some shit to do so I figured I would drive by around 10:30 to let some of the hipster fucks clear out. There were still about 50 people in line outside the door at 10:30! Fuck that noise. I'll try back later today or hit up ebay for what I want. I don't want any of the super high demand stuff so I shouldn't get ass gored too badly.
  9. MoFi brush $20 (in a pinch, you could use lint free cotton pads, but the MoFi brush material really gets into the grooves) Cleaning solution of 3 parts distilled water ($1.50/gal) and 91% isopropyl alcohol ($1.50/16 oz) Rinsing solution of distilled water (could use a microfiber paint brush to spread rinse water) Lint-free cotton pads to soak up distilled water rinse $4/pack of like 50 pads Dry with microfiber towels ($10/8 towel pack) Dish rack or some other rack to let records air dry $10 Poly sleeves ($10/50 sleeves at Sleeve City) Do not use paper sleeves Done and pretty reasonably priced Don't half-ass cleaning records. You'll just be wasting time. Tons of threads and youtube videos on this topic for ideas.
  10. For those that are actually interested, try lighter fluid. Put some on a cotton ball or paper towel and soak the label. Let it sit for like 15 seconds and the label should peel right off. Lighter fluid is also good for cleaning off sticker residue and other stuff on the label and jacket. It will dry without leaving any spots. Be careful as it can remove color from the jacket.
  11. No doubt. Shipping is about $10 on top of that. I really want one that doesn't have that stupid ass B.C. on it but paying $30 more for something you can get on amazon is kinda crazy. From what I can tell, only the Scandinavian version doesn't have B.C. on it. Even the ones from UK and Germany have it.
  12. If the platter motor still works, turn it into a record cleaning machine.
  13. Carbon fiber brushes aren't really "anti-static". The theory is that they conduct static from the record through the brush into your body. That is why you are supposed to hold it by the metal handle. This is fine and dandy as long as your body has less static than the record. If you are carrying a static charge, it is possible to actually push that charge onto the record! The CF brush is still good for getting rid of dust. The Mapleshade is indeed a static draining brush as it pulls the static off and discharges it through the ground line in the wall outlet. I've had really good luck with the Rek-O-Kut Dust Bug. It is a carbon fiber brush that rests on the surface of the record while it plays and discharges through a ground line. Sleeve City also sells something very similar http://www.sleevecityusa.com/Antistatic-Record-Cleaning-Arm-p/tac-01.htm
  14. Outside of wet cleaning, the best thing I've found to reduce static is the Rek-O-Kut Dust Bug. It can be ordered here: http://www.esotericsound.com/access.htm about halfway down the page. $22 plus shipping Once it is dialed in, it tracks pretty closely with the stylus path so it is always cleaning the area of the record right in front of the stylus. It also has a ground wire that does a great job of dissipating static. I had a very staticky copy of Master of Puppets and when I played it while using a Dust Bug, there was barely a tic or pop.
  15. No doubt. Tacked on two Forest of Stars records to my order for good measure. Pretty sure these will go fast. I wonder if the official reissues of The Mantle and Ashes Against the Grain will be coming soon?
  16. I saw that you had some Alcest records. Can you get any other artists from Prophecy/Lupus Lounge? Forest of Stars, Dordeduh, Negura Bunget?
