  1. Yeah, thanks for posting that. Got the gold Aeolian and clear Fluxion for under 50 as well. Shipping is way more reasonable now. The shipping used to be almost as much as the items you'd buy.
  2. Yeah, could be. Just seems weird they would recut a new master after pressing only about 400 copies. Certainly the master would not be worn out yet. The stampers should probably be fine as well. Maybe the pressing plant owns the rights to the master so they weren't allowed to take it with them? Either way, the new cut will be different, if only minimally. I guess the only way to know is to do an A/B comparison.
  3. I'm curious how different the repress will sound considering they are recutting it. Anyone know where the 1st press and repress were done? This comment gives me pause about the 1st: "During the process of manufacturing the album we had a disagreement with the pressing plant about the project, and decided to decrease the number we were pressing with them and take the project to another plant for a re-cut and repress."
  4. Kick ass band. Probably will be tough to find a 1st press of their early stuff that is in really good condition. I'm guessing these albums were rode hard and put away wet, so to speak. Their first 3 studio albums are legit. After Joe Walsh left, they went downhill. Here's a Monarch pressing of their 2nd album. Probably something to keep an eye out for if you can find it. http://www.discogs.com/James-Gang-James-Gang-Rides-Again/release/3050052
  5. The fuck? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PERTURBATOR-Dangerous-Days-2xLP-Glow-In-The-Dark-200-synthwave-rare-oop-ltd-/321629449901?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ae29beead#ht_25wt_1256
  6. As far as I can tell, this is simultaneously the dumbest and most important question ever asked on VC: Can someone explain to me what is the big deal about this album? I see references to it everywhere and it's like people are willing to part with their left testicle to get a copy. The way people talk about it, it's like (Sgt Peppers + Kind Of Blue + Jesus)^(10^100). This is an honest question. I've never heard the album.
  7. They didn't have any more signed deluxe copies last night when I went to the merch table after the show. Not sure if they refresh them each night or if they just had a limited amount for the whole tour. 20 doesn't seem like a lot of copies to last the whole tour. I got a signed standard copy for $25. Show was badass BTW. They played for about 1:45 or so. I have a pic of the setlist if anyone wants to see it.
  8. Do you recall the price on the box set? I may have to pick up the signed version of the new lp on black at tonight's show.
  9. Sometimes websites show how many are remaining. Ones like Temporary Residence or Blood Music.
  10. Was able to pick up a sealed 45 RPM 2LP copy of Out to Lunch for $60 last week. Haven't listened to it yet but it is calling my name. That thing is seriously heavy. I could probably kill a bear with it.
  11. Sleeve City is the bomb for inners. I used the Ultimate Audiophile Inners. Smooth as fucking velvet. For outers, I use Bags Unlimited. They have more size and thickness options than Sleeve City. I recommend using polyethylene bags over polypropolene. PE has some advantages over PP. It is more supple so the bags won't get as stiff and it will be less likely to scratch the vinyl or jacket. It is more static resistant so it should attract less dirt and dust. It has better light blocking ability.to reduce fading of the jackets. As far as bunching, are you top loading or side loading your jackets? I always put the jacket in so the top of the jacket is towards the sleeve opening. I get less bunching that way. I also recommend putting the inner sleeve with the vinyl in separately from the jacket. That way, you can remove the LP without taking the jacket out.
  12. Water on a record will not hurt it one bit. Water plus a little surfactant like Triton is even better. That helps break the surface tension and allows the water to get into the groove better. I usually wash old records I buy first with water, a VERY small amount of surfactant and a microfiber pad like the ones used for auto detailing. Get the record and pad wet and scrub along the groove. Getting the label a little wet won't hurt it. Just don't scrub the label. Dry with a microfiber towel and let it air dry for maybe an hour. Then put it on the turntable and start it spinning. Then use a carbon fiber brush to get any newly settled dust. You should use a carbon fiber brush before each play. Carbon fiber brushes are really only good for surface particulates. They don't do a deep groove clean. Carbon fiber brushes are meant for dry cleaning a record. Do not use one in conjunction with water. If you want to clean a record without breaking the bank, buy a Spin Clean. That uses a cleaning solution dissolved in water and 2 brushes that clean both sides of the record as you rotate it. It's a hell of a lot better than nothing. If you really want to get serious, buy a vacuum record cleaning machine. Wood glue works somewhat but a) it doesn't pull everything out of the groove and can leave quite a bit of static on the record. If you go the wood glue route, buy Tite Bond II. The "II" is very important.
  13. Thanks for posting that the blues were back up. Ordered one of those and one of the oranges. Threw in an Inter Arma record and a Year of No Light record for good measure.
  14. According to BN, the source is hi-res digital (96k and 192k) so there should be less compression in these masters than you would get with a redbook CD or an mp3. Not saying the 75s are as good as MM reissues, but they are serviceable pressings. I think they are a great way to build a collection without breaking the bank. And if you really like one, then you can drop some extra cash on the audiophile pressings.
  15. I got the cancellation email, too, but if you go to the website, it shows the order as open and that the item hasn't shipped.
  16. Hmm. Maybe this is why I didn't receive my pre-order...?
  17. Anyone by chance order the Led Zep Houses of the Holy deluxe box from CCMusic and get it yet? I ordered it on 10/24 along with the LZ IV box and the Beatles mono box. I received those two but not the HOTH box. I've tried contacting them several times but haven't heard back from them.
  18. At least everything through Moving Pictures for me. I've come around on Rush in the last few months. I used to dislike them except for Tom Sawyer.
  19. Great coupon. Picked up a few Isis records and the first Atavist/Nadja split.
