Question on Amazon Warehouse Deals
NJDevils1214 replied to rooks's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
Damn that thing looks lovely. I hope you enjoy it! -
Woah NJ showed up tonight. 40 min left to play.
-
I see what you did there.

Thanks for the link and the input guys, I appreciate it. I agree, the possibility drooping makes sense now that I think about it. Those legs might work if I put a pair in the center like in the picture though. People are getting pretty big on the LEDs and I am getting on the band wagon myself. I thought it would look cool if I bought some and put them under the Expedit.

I use the IKEA Expedit series for my vinyl setup. Tonight I was drawn into one of those stupid yahoo videos and saw one in the background. It is propped up on these two silver blocks. Now I want something like them, but problem is I have no idea what they are called or where I'd find them. I doubt they were made special just for that, they must be something that was lying around. Anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated. Please don't just suggest I use cinder blocks or something

Vintage Turntable Thread

I am looking for a new cartridge. Is there an industry standard in size so that even one of these new cartridges would fit on a vintage table? -
Vintage Turntable Thread
NJDevils1214 replied to raystrey's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
Hey, I am appealing to VC for some help for my dad. He needs a cartridge for his Elac Benjamin-Miracord 40h turntable. Being that I am new to vinyl myself, I am not 100% sure what will fit. I found a scanned copy of the owners manual on AudioKarma, but the two needles it suggests are hundreds of dollars and hardly any exist. I'd appreciate any help or any resources you guys might be able to offer. -
Damn I really want a S&S.

Vintage Turntable Thread
NJDevils1214 replied to raystrey's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
My dad has some records he told me he would give me, but given my OCD about keeping them nice he said I'd probably not want to play them with my cartage. This person I work with was throwing out his stereo system, he said, was bought in 1978 so I took it to see if I could do anything with it in hopes to use it to play the old records my dad has. The record player is a Quanta 500. From what I have researched it isn't anything special and it needs a new needle/RCA cables before I plan on really using it. I think the Receiver, an Onkyo TX 1500 MKII, is as good as junk given the corrosion of the RCA jacks. It was probably stored in some garage. The two speakers are Paradigm Titan V2 bookshelf speakers. I cleaned them up a bit just today and on first listen they sound pretty great. -
The album is Ellie Goulding - Halycon. One logo says Cherry Tree Records and another says Interscope. Must be separate labels for different countries?

Nah there is a pop. That is how i noticed something was wrong. When I took the time to inspect it I saw several scratches on both sides and smudge type marks as well on the surface.
-
I have a beginner question, not sure where to post but doesn't warrant a new thread. I got a vinyl a while back, but didn't go to play it until today. I was told it was new, and it was in the shrink wrap for a while before I took it out only to put it in an inner sleeve and back into the cover then an outer sleeve around that. Well I went to play it today and it is scratched and smudged. I can only think it either wasn't handled well at the pressing facility or someone sold me a used copy, but had the means to reseal it and pass it off as new. Is this common? Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not in on this, but wanted to say good luck everyone

Small Talk Revival Thread

This made me lol because my group of friends from high school had a "Dave England" type guy in the group. He looked and played the part. I still see him at some of the parties my friends throw at college.- 169,220 replies

After looking at your work I went on a lyrical hunt just for kicks. Now I wish I could pay you cause I found several song lyrics/illustrations similar to your Deja Entendu work I'd love to have hanging on my wall.

Bump on this. Made any headway? I am interested in a weight/clamp and have been looking. I certainly wouldn't mind supporting a freelance VC project. I'm not in any hurry, just curious.
-
From what I have read and seen it is pretty much luck. Some people get good ones and they work great, other people, like myself, just don't.

Woot all hail the hat! Grats!

This was mine, but I wasn't sure if it was just clear or clear blue. In this case, this is my pick as well.

Help With Speaker Placement
NJDevils1214 replied to NJDevils1214's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
I usually reside at my desk, but when I am really assessing quality I'll just sit right in front of the turntable. I had figured that I might not need all 4 speakers but thought it might be worth it to ask if anyone had any ideas. -
Help With Speaker Placement
NJDevils1214 replied to NJDevils1214's topic in Turntables & Other Audio Equipment
You're right. Yes, they are doors and the radius which they open. -
I have 4 DM303s and need some help with speaker placement because my room is shaped kind of weird like an "L". I figured I'd appeal to the community for help before I sell the extra two I don't use. I drew a layout of my room in autocad. The measurements are all approximate and there is also another door in the top right corner I forgot to put in. I almost never open it though. I'd appreciate any insight really. If I can't figure anything out I'll probably be selling them. No sense in them sitting around when someone else can be enjoying them and I can't even use them. It is entirely possible that a room this size simply doesn't need 4 speakers too. Thanks
