  1. weird, i just heard their music and liked them around 2003/2004. the libertines. it wasn't until babyshambles that i started hearing about all the drug abuse and problems. could care less either way, hipster bands come and go on a daily basis. pitchfork probably loved them.
  2. damn, guess i should have gone to see them on warped. didn't even think they had a new one coming out. still on island? hopefully they get some touring in!
  3. yeah, i love norm macdonald but it was kind of weird watching him and his reactions. i thought the jokes about him were funnier. most of the people on the roast only had a couple good jokes, like every olsen twin joke in the book isn't used up by now. should have had penn (fraser jillette) on there to rip saget a good one. i should have just watched dirty work for the 100th time. i kinda like carlos mencia, i like probably 30% of the jokes on each show but it's not a show i really find myself watching more than once. he has a few decent jokes here and there. definitely stuck in the stereotypical/race rut though. can't stand seinfeld. blah. there's too much love around for that dude. iliza schlesinger. yum. glad she won, figured she would from the start. jeff dye was cool, he should have been 2nd instead of that marcus douchebag (with the hot g/f in the audience!). the worst one of the whole bunch: RON G. i saw an ad on starz for 'Martin Lawrence Presents 1st Amendment Stand-Up' and he's featured on there. ugh. can't stand the dude or his stupid rehashed voice thing he does. was hoping to see him voted off from the start. him and papa cj can take a hike. dave attell, probably my favorite. what's up with the gong show though? so weak. i miss Insomniac! and henry rollins rules. ah, the stories.
  4. that is one sexy record. can't wait to see it up close and personal! thanks for the pics.
  5. i assume since this test pressing contest is ending soon, that the records may be in soon. MATT & KIM gTo/Fromh 10(T.B.A. - 20-August) hopefully!
  6. my aunt and uncle are giving away their dog, and keeping the 2 younger dogs that she was the mother of. the mellowest and nicest dog, so sad. big time disapreesh. we might have to break our new dog rule and take her in. ours passed away a couple years ago after 15 years.
  7. YES! right after i got the response. jump on it! i think it's safe to email them and say you're just looking for the exclusive color since you probably already grabbed the package too.
  8. more polyvinyl wallet emptying: Braid, Rainer Maria, Mates Of State - 3 LP reissue package. Of Montreal - id engager. 3 colors/7" package. Owen/City On Film - import 7" Of Montreal - gender mutiny tour 7" and now from shirtkiller: Young Widows - Old Wounds LP shirtkiller exclusive color Coliseum - Goddamage yellow/white / yellow/black marble 2x7" reissue Coliseum - No Salvation 2nd pressing.
  9. yeah, it'd be cool to see the special one. one of them was posted already by virgil. thanks. THESE ARMS ARE SNAKES “Easter” LP magenta w/ white splatter vinyl (out of 350)
  10. i'm about to email them. just saw the shirtkiller email. dang it. like there aren't enough variants already! now i can order the coliseum goddamage reissue 2x7" and the other 12" i need. this is getting too expensive. $8 shipping. christ. they emailed back tonight: We are right at the cut off point for those exclusives, so go ahead and order. Then email me and I'll make sure you get the Amber one. Shirt Killer
  11. all the 31knots possible please love them. amazing band.
  12. dang record is holding up my whole order for evaaaa. can't wait to see the covers though i have every color of the first press already though.
  13. we are adventuring, we are adventurers!!! s/t album was awesome, still haven't picked up the most recent. too bad some bands just can't be thought about for their music foremost, there always has to be all this bullshit hype and press that make them look like idiots. there are far worse bands to ridicule than be your own pet. i'm just mad i didn't get a chance to see them at least once.
  14. love them. went to chicago to see them and tilly and the wall open for bright eyes. live show was mostly good. they are definitely weird and quirky. i thought the rapper/beatboxing took away from their whole set. they seem to really hate minnesota. they played here once at a woman's theater with antony and the johnsons. couldn't make it, and it was $20. haven't seen them come here since. some indie bands just avoid MN altogether and i get kinda sick of supporting them.
  15. I'm going to fucking cut you. i had a comp to see jawbreaker, the smoking popes and tripl3fastaction in like 1996. free! i once saw deftones in a mcdonalds parking lot in 1996. wish that could happen again! another freebie. i think i saw atmosphere in 1997 for like $2-3 crossover from the main room at first ave. if that's "cheapest show" that meant anything.
  16. i say the same thing all the time. my friend is the most anal person about radiohead, cannot say enough about them and won't give up criticizing me because i don't think they're the greatest band on earth. he just went to lolla to see them and is still carrying on about how great they were. blah. he even said last night "radiohead is the beatles of our era" and i almost left the room. i own the bends through kid a. i still love the bends but i could really care less about most of their dribble. i chose mindless self indulgence over radiohead at coachella a few years ago, i don't feel like i missed anything
  17. of montreal has always offered tons of bonus stuff with every album anyway. bonus ep's of covers, bonus 7"s, elaborate singles between albums, all kinds of vinyl. they have to be the most productive band on polyvinyl. i own all their cd's, most of their polyvinyl lp's. i think i need to pre-order this now! i don't think i'll buy anything but the music, but the idea is still interesting and worth supporting.
  18. was it on purpose? i always wonder. my flipper 'sex bomb/brainwash' 7" does that on brainwash...which is already a repeating song. it's a double whammy. i can't tell if it was purposely done or if my record is just jacked.
  19. portishead 'third' boxset. looks sooo nice. box isn't too badly banged up from insound. i can live with a little scuffing i guess. too bad the paper sleeves are ripped from the records. can't win them all!
  20. but, without one hit wonders, VH1 will have less shows and a band like semisonic wont be able to release a best of that contains said 1 hit and half of each of their 2 albums. amen. i think weezer made the right decision to "break up" after pinkerton. they must have realized weezer was the only gig that was going to feed them after the fact. the nostalgia is long gone, time to pack it in. come on. semisonic had 'singing in my sleep'. awesome song. they're from here, i have to give them a little credit. i saw them for free a long time ago and it was actually a decent show. don't own anything they've released except a side project band after, the flops. props i guess.... i download lots of music, less now than i used to. mostly because i have so much music, i can't consume it all anymore. i've spent most of my income on music from a kid til now. i probably have over 2000 cd's, maybe 200+ vinyl, seen what feels like 1000 shows. i still tend to buy most of my music at shows, directly from bands. i kinda feel like downloading music saves the people that really care about music alot of money, or alot of disappointing purchases. where as people that download the single forget about the song after a week and are onto the next one hit wonder. if anything, being a downloader has really crushed me financially. i will never own everything i want to buy, sometimes a download is the only substitute for the time being. i've been turned onto so many different things by downloading from recommendations, articles, myspace, whatever. networking is a killer. as for ben folds, i can't see a casual listener of music even wanting to listen to his 'fake' leak in the first place. he's never seemed like the artist competing for album sales or chart recognition. he just seems like a musician who wants to make music, tour and make an humble living. i'd be shocked to find ben folds in the same library as say duffy, amy winehouse, jay-z, madonna, flo rida, lil wayne, rihanna, etc. whatever pop crap is "new" these days. i've lost touch.
  21. Backed. The tour they did with Statistics and Engine Down was fucking amazing. i hate you for seeing that kind of tour. dammit. i've seen them a couple times but uggghhh i'd have killed for engine down. i've seen denver with other bands more than i've seen statistics. statistics could stand to tour a little more, denver is a workaholic. i emailed the militia group asking wtf was up with the jealous sound earlier this year and he assured me there was progress. the band had NO updates for like 2 years. i was getting worried. finallyyyyyyyy. i hope it'll be worth the wait.
  22. haha, i worked at costco for a temp job for like 2 days while they were doing some samples for their berry smoothies. it must have been a grand opening. man, that was hell. nonstop for what seemed like 8 hours each day. i don't even remember if i tried one!
  23. http://www.last.fm/user/deafmx who's inventing the vinyl scrobbler?
