  1. Just a quick note that we finished our new LP over holiday and we will be posting preorder details, and a new song soon. I'll post on here as it happens but we will also post on facebook. It's a beast of a record - much much heavier and darker than the first one. If any of you live in the Bay Area, we are playing in Oakland on 1/18 (my bday!) and 1/20 in Santa Rosa. Both shows are with this awesome Canadian band, Reverter. Chances are looking good that we will have a third LP out later this year too. cheers, Chuck/Glaciers http://www.facebook.com/glaciersband

  6. looks like a family found a bunch of them. thats hilarious. in the picture they are all holding them. they probably have no idea that they can sell them and open up a 529 for their kid. jesus.
  7. if i ship a record across the country via the post office, priority mail is close to $7. plus the cost of the mailer. sure it sucks, but you can thank the post office for that!
  8. help fund recording of the new Glaciers LP: http://www.ebay.com/sch/bloodfortheking/m.html?item=150771463878&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649&_trksid=p4340.l2562
  9. im currently selling my copy of Amputecture on the bay if anyone is interested. Low starting bid. I have all of their other LPs if anyone is interested, minus the first two.
  10. I'm sure there will be at least one Bay Area show this year. We played in Oakland last fall w True Widow. Just working on the new songs right now.
  11. THANKS - we have a ton of new material so it should be interesting to see how it all turns out. We are recording the first session in early May with Phil from the fuckin champs and trans am. Kinda stoked.
  12. West Coast shows - I would guess that we will play Seattle, Portland and Olympia or something like that at some point this year. Or maybe not. three of us became first time dads within the past 12 months, so that kind of changes your perspective on touring and out of town shows. Lame answer, yes totally. But its something we talk about it, as we want to do a proper east coast run of dates, and NW and So Cal run again.
  13. The plan was to repress this record in early January, on clear vinyl with blue splats. Sadly, when we ordered more copies from the pressing plant, we were informed that they threw the plates, masters, everything associated with the LP in the trash. So as of now, there is no repress. This could change tomorrow, but right now, we are concentrating our efforts and finances towards our next album, which we about to record in early May. I wouldn't rule out a repress to coincide with the next LP (which if all goes well will be late summer early fall), but at this point it will be considered a "remaster" and these things aren't cheap as everyone knows. @CROFT - your lady has good taste. I think Steve from 1-2-3-4 Go in Oakland might have one. I saw it in his store a few months ago. It's worth hitting him up on facebook. If you dont get a repsonse, PM me and I'll text him.
  14. thats not what my post was saying but if you would like to steer this thread towards a debate on the affordability of health care im game.
  15. how many people here have actually worked in a record store, as an adult? I cant speak for anyone at reckless, but I would guess its not the most financially rewarding career, probably doesnt come with health insurance, and done more out of love for music and vinyl itself. jesus, if they get one, ONE, opportunity a year to buy something like this before the general public, then I'd support that. hell, let them flip it on ebay too.
  16. Somehow I have "I Against I", the 12" vinyl, in the "Live" LP sleeve. Completely random, but does anyone have either the LP sleeve for "I Against I" or just the vinyl for "Live" they would be willing to part with? Willing to offer you praise from Jah in exchange.
  17. thanks for the GLACIERS shout out. Ill throw my faves out there: DIRTY THREE - i dont have a fave, although Ocean Songs gets lots of spins in my house. I saw em once in NYC w Pj Harvey, and it was mind blowing. they never get the credit they are due, but they rule. MOGWAI - hard to nail down a favorite, but i really love the most recent one, 'hardcore will nvr die". I think they get better with time. but each of their other records has staples and hits that I love. RED SPAROWES - loved their last record for sure. PULLMAN - the first LP on thrill jockey is beautiful. mostly acoustic. check it out. TORTOISE - recently got back into them. Millions now living is the jam. EARTH - I love everything about them. When I heard EARTH 2, it blw me away, but nothing could prepare me for HEX. Anyone remember when the dude from Autofact booted their LPs and was driving down the west coast selling them to record stores? I also have to mention my love for jazz...Miles Davis, Art Blakely, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders...
  18. this is easy. TRUE WIDOW. hands down. why everyone isnt raving about them blows me away. heavy and slow, and just beautiful 2 xLP on Kemado http://www.kemado.com/shop/true-widow-as....-of-the -earth/ here's some of their songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59Tgf3cBceo the first LP is just as incredible.
  19. Just wanted to encourage everyone to pick this record up. The cover is silk screened, appears to be in tribute to Fahey, nice black vinyl and is limited to 300 copies. Winfred E Eye is one of my favorite bands - they do a great version of 70's americana hazy sunday rock. seriously - pick it up, the songs are beautiful and it's probably the best blind purchase you can make this year. Check out this song from the new LP:
  20. if someone really really wants the white vinyl version, feel free to hit me up with some kind of awesome trade, i dont want anyone to pay stupid prices for the special record with the destroyable sleeve. im really into guided by voices right now, hint hint.
  21. If anyone is interested in this, let me know. I got it in the mail today and am willing to part with it.
