  1. Are you interested in trades at all, or just trying to unload your vinyl collection?
  2. I'll give my vote to Punk in Drublic. Really solid album, definitely NOFX's second best. Lots of good "P" albums though...
  3. Yeah, I noticed that they cut out the part of the Breaking Bad pilot where Walt washes a student's car at the car wash. (I only caught it because I had watched the series on some other website before I had Netflix, long ago.) I couldn't think of any reason for that scene to be cut out, so I looked into it and found that other shows have bits cut out as well - sometimes it can even mess with the continuity of the story. According to reddit, Netflix receives edited or "daytime" versions of TV shows directly from whomever produces them. So, in the case of Breaking Bad, this would mean that AMC (for whatever reason) sent Netflix a version of the pilot with Jesse's girl wearing a bra and the car-washing scene absent. This doesn't really seem to stand up, though. You wouldn't be hard-pressed to find nudity or the word "fuck" in many Netflix titles, but I suppose with a big name like Breaking Bad, AMC would want to send the "daytime" version. I can't see why, but the point I'm trying to make is that apparently it's not Netflix doing the cutting. However, they are allegedly cropping scenes in certain shows in movies because they "prefer to show wider-screen films." And there's my introduction to the small talk thread. One-thousand posts, here I come.
  4. Just ordered a NOFX record via this method ... we'll see how it works out. Hell, for $12 shipped, how couldn't I?
  5. Ah, thanks for the info. Thought it'd be good to let everyone know - and those Teenage Bottlerocket completionists can get their hands on the exclusive LP color. Looks pretty cool, anyway.
  6. Heads up! http://www.fatwreck.com/record/detail/TBRBOX Not sure if this is the same box as before (I don't follow Teenage Bottlerocket), but I figured you fans out there should know that this is up at Fat Wreck. I actually didn't see the announcement until about three hours after it was made, so there's no telling how many boxes are left at this point in time. Get 'em while you can!
  7. Thanks for the info, guys. I'll keep cleaning it with the audio-technica kit and see what happens. If I don't get all the skips out with that, I may go to wood glue.
  8. Cheapest might be Bull Moose. They have Ribbed (and I assume any others that will be released, maybe excluding 2xLPs) for $17.97. Orders over $30 get you free shipping, so you can get two for about $36 with everything said and done. Personally, I ordered with the expedited shipping because I'm just too anxious to get this record. Edit: Yeah, also King's Road Merch would be good. I forgot about that. If they're going up for $18-$21 you might pay a few bucks more, but you'll have considerably more selection than Bull Moose does right now.
  9. So, is it looking like these are going to slowly trickle out without an official announcement? Or has nothing about the Hot Topic variants been said yet? I guess those are more important to Epitaph's target audience.
  10. So, I finally managed to find a copy of the NOFX/Rancid split, and as soon as I take it home and put it on the turntable, it starts skipping. I've encountered skips on "Moron Bros." and "Stickin' In My Eye" so far, and while I haven't listened to the NOFX side I'm sure they're there, too. The record wasn't mint, but it looked to be flawless under even my closest scrutiny. Not even one hairline scratch, let alone something deep enough to cause a skip, and I meticulously cleaned off any traces of dust. I tried cleaning the record with an audio-technica AT-6012 Record Care Kit, and after doing so I noticed that two or three prominent skips were no longer present. I'm not so concerned about them anymore, because I think I can get the rest of the record to play smoothly, but what I'm curious about is what they were in the first place. Does anybody have any idea? I read somewhere that it could be very very small debris, invisible to my eye, deep within the grooves. But that doesn't make sense to me because it seemed like the record was so impeccably cared for. If anyone knows what's up with this, please let me know.
  11. Interesting... Bull Moose still has it listed as a 12/31 release date. Any news from Hot Topic? I'd check but that website doesn't work so well on my phone. While I'm glad they might be coming soon, it is strange. January's not even over and those were listed for 2/11... huh. I imagine Epitaph has a lot going on, so maybe some stuff slipped out. I guess we'll see what happens!
  12. "Great weather," he says. We don't have it so good up here around Seattle. There are a handful of good record stores in the city, but elsewhere you're getting screwed by indie stores selling new LPs at at least 50% markup. Congrats on that find though - out of 100! I'd love to move down to California at some point, just for the records!
  13. What a joke. Showing it around would probably get my ass kicked by any respectable Black Flag fan.
  14. I saw Black Flag with Reyes back in June or July last year. The show was okay - almost everyone there was over 40, and one of my t-shirts got stolen, and everyone was an asshole - but I met Ron, Greg, and Mike V after the show. Ron was really nice, a very cool guy, and I'm not sure what compelled him to make the cover art for What The ..., but after meeting the three of them it's clear that Ron is definitely the victim here. I remembered Mike V from playing Tony Hawk's Underground as a kid. In fact I hooked up a GameCube and played the shit out of that game around the time of the concert because I was reminded of it. Anyway, he seemed to be a cool guy. Good For You played a nice set, the theremin was cool, and he interacted with the audience a lot (flung at least a gallon of sweat on to me and my friend in the front row). So, I guess I'm indifferent about him being the new frontman for Black Flag - his voice doesn't really fit though, if you ask me. Greg signed my wallet (it was the only thing I had handy after the show because some assclown took my Nervous Breakdown shirt). I had never looked much into him before, not watched any interviews or anything, and was totally blown away by how quiet and mild-mannered he was. He read and then signed some kid's fanzine, then signed my wallet, we chatted for a bit and then I left. But then I found out what an asshole he his, and I don't know what to do with the wallet. I'm hoping the signature just rubs away eventually. They only played two songs from What The ... during the show. That was a relief, but they also didn't play anything from Slip It In or The Process of Weeding Out (I dunno why they would - they may as well play shit from Family Man), so you take the wins with the losses, I guess. Anyway, that's my opinion on it all. The new album fuckin' sucks. Why not just a white cover with "Black Flag" and the bars somewhere on it? Come on, Ron.
  15. I imagine that Epitaph pressed/is pressing/will be pressing the two different colors of each release at similar times, if not together, so if the Hot Topic exclusives are delayed I think the indie store ones will be as well. That's just what I'm thinking, though.
  16. Travis, thanks for the update. Do you know for sure that those releases (minus NOFX, dammit) are coming on the 11th? I don't want to have to make a trip out to Hot Topic if I don't have to, but I'll probably call my local store ahead of time anyway. Also, do you think I'll have a better chance at picking up No Control from the store or getting it online? I don't think there are a lot of Bad Religion fans in town but there are sure as shit a lot of flippers who could beat me to them.
  17. Hey everyone. I had this thread up to sell some records but it didn't generate much interest, so I am repurposing it. I went and saw Cage the Elephant on 9/25 last year and got this 7" and lithograph signed by Matt, Brad, and Lincoln after the show. These items were given out as preorder bonuses for whoever reserved Melophobia at Easy Street Records in West Seattle, WA. I can't confirm if they played any other venues and did the same thing, but my research points toward "no." There were less than 100 people at the show, and of course not everybody got the 7" and lithograph, and not everybody stayed afterwards. Therefore I'd say that this set is somewhere in the vicinity in 1/60. Anyway, I liked their first album a lot, the second, not so much - and Melophobia doesn't really speak to me at all. So if anyone is interested in buying these, send me a PM! I am open to offers. Here are some pictures:
  18. Bull Moose says the first round has been pushed back to 31 December this year. Fuckin' pissed about that. Fat Mike is having an AMA tomorrow on reddit, I'll try to ask him about it - though I don't think he'll have much to say, since Epitaph is handling it after all.
  19. Yes, definitely do your research. I actually just cataloged my whole collection on Discogs to make sure I had a complete list, and found out that I do have some nice first presses and cool variations. It can never hurt to check, and make sure you do it thoroughly - look for the serial on the spine, and on the label, and it may even be printed somewhere on the jacket. You may have found a copy where somebody swapped out the record into a cleaner looking jacket from a later press, which can hurt the value. Anyway, your chances are good that you'll find something worth something, especially that Dark Side of the Moon. If it's an early pressing, with all the stuff still in the sleeve, you can get a good price for it. Most people selling vinyl out of their garage don't know what they have. Good luck! And ajhall04: Cool find! And you sold it for $275? Great profit.
  20. This sounds great! Very cool cover art too - and some solid packaging. Sort of surprised I've never heard of them before now. Will definitely be getting both variants if I can get to them in time.
  21. If you guys are still interested, I got one black (unplayed) and one red (played once) copy direct from Fat Wreck, not on the tour. Had never heard OWTH or MG before but decided to jump on a colored press for once, and it turns out they're not really my cup of tea.
  22. I was looking for more info about the re-press of Ribbed that's supposed to happen soon, and I wound up here. Glad I found it, seems like a great place.
