The record looks bowl shaped. Side two is concave, side one is convex. My guess is the table doesn't turn when there is no record on it right? the platter must sense the records weight and allows the table to turn, the sensor must be located on the underside of the platter near the outside. So when the concave side is down and the weight of the record is nearer the outside of the platter the sensor is tripped allowing the table to turn, when the concave side is up the weight of the record is neared the inside of the platter and the sensor is not tripped. This is just my guess. I might be totally wrong and not have any idea what i'm talking about. But the record does look bowl shaped EDIT - it might be something simpler like a small button that is depressed on the platter when a record is placed on it, and the fact that the concave side is up the record is not depressing the button? Try to get the platter to spin without a record on it.... see if you can figure out what makes the platter spin.

I sent them a quick email yesterday evening asking if i was one of the first 400 pre-orders and received a msg back today confirming that i was. That surprises me though because i didn't find out about it until about 8 hours after it was announced. Now to wait and see which variant arrives.....

These numbers are different from before.... a large increase i see in the Pogues and the Husker Du, and i assume for the others as well. This is good news for me as i just found out i'm not going to be able to take part in RSD this year as planned. It gives me hope i'll be able to get the records i want after Easter weekend somewhere. I'll happily take a chance on this reissue. Was just listening to the CD last week and looked up the price of the vinyl (for a laugh)...... and boy oh boy did i laugh.

I read recently that there are 3 or 4 albums worth of material he was working on that didn't get released, and there are plans in the works to release it. Also, there are still outtakes from the American Recording sessions that might add up to another box set like the Unearthed box. This, for me, is all great news. I can't get enough of his voice.

Agree, Johnny Cash albums from this period can be hit or miss... this one is hit for sure. Makes me wonder how it got left behind in the first place.

This was released on March 25 in Canada and should have been the same in the States, so i guess the pre-order part is just waiting for the shirts to be released... LOL

buy a couple more items from the catalogue to make the shipping not as big a hit. That's what i usually do. And here's something to make your day: Shipping to Canada and Belgium is the same price

didn't take them long to go through the Green considering how many people were complaining of the price. lucky i got on in time to get one. EDIT - someone mentioned they might find 10 copies later... I would bet those would come from cancelled orders or returns.

I don't know what's going on... I ordered all these back in February (except A Hundred Highways) from Amazon.ca (cuz i'm Canadian) and the date keeps getting pushed... now it says Apr 8th......

I imagine they will be pressing more. To me this recent release felt like they were just trying out some new box colour combinations. Maybe they'll come up with another one and release 200 more....
