Vagrant 25 Years Vinyl Represses

It is a little cloudy and I'll be the first to admit I have no idea what the process is to get crystal clear. -

I mean, adding carbon for hardness/rigidity is basic chemistry, and adding other substances to a pure substance making it less pure is also basic chemistry. As for PVC being clear in its natural state, that's basic observation. Ask yourself what is the hardest known substance in the world. Diamond, right? And what are diamonds made of? You guessed it, carbon. If every pressing plant FAQ says the same thing regarding processes and it matches what I've learn in basic science education I tend to believe it. I suppose you could apply the same "it takes a lot of white dye" principal to any opaque colored vinyl besides black, but when it comes to color theory it typically takes more white in any mix than it does other colors. My original post wasn't directed specifically at you, if that matters at all. -

I love when these discussions come up and everyone wants to chime in without doing the bare minimum research about vinyl and record production. Records are made from PVC. It's naturally colorless. To make black vinyl, carbon is added. In addition to the black coloration, carbon adds strength...because it's carbon. Colored vinyl has added dyes to color it, but no carbon, so it is colorful, has impurities and does not get the added strength black gets from carbon. Clear, being the base form of PVC is technically the purest, but can has two diasadvantages to black vinyl: no added strength from carbon, and it is harder to visually quality check due to the color. To get a solidly white record a lot of dye has to be added to the PVC, making it often more impure and prone to defect. -

Never had any problems with clear, and that's what I typically buy if its available. I avoid glow in the dark usually though as I typically just don't like the look, so I'm no help there. -

I really just don't enjoy the look of white vinyl. If it comes down to white or any other color including standard black I'm going with anything but white. I seem to be an outlier around these parts in that I do like a nice crystal clear though. Of course the most important thing is sound quality, but I do enjoy a fancy looking record. -

This is my take too. I've just been quietly waiting to see if he contributes anywhere else. So far nothing. -

Right? And this 2x10" news came out like a month ago, so...not sure why people are acting surprised. -

Digging it. I'll have to check out some of their other stuff. Does any of their stuff have vocals? -

No, no, I remember. I wouldn't say force, you were very gentle. -

I, on the other hand, force guests to sleep in the record room. -

With you. I think a while back people were kind of ragging on folks for making new threads for reissues instead of bumping the old thread and its gotten to a weird point where people don't want to start new threads. I'm all for new threads for most releases. -

Yeah, I don't know why the catch-all stuff became so popular on here. Like I get it for local stuff that not many people know/care about and that won't sell out super quick, but a lot of these numero presses are big deals or people have been waiting a long time for them. It would just suck to miss out because it didn't get its own thread. I'm pretty anti-catchall these days. -

I think most of these have been deserving of their own threads, honestly. -
I had kind of forgotten there were even any allegations too honestly, and it looks to me like: Dude who hasn't grow up gets drunk and acts like a teenager, sends some unsolicited nudes to another adult, situation gets blown out of proportion. I never want to minimize the harm anyone may have experienced, but this sounds like something that happens literally all the time to people, and while it sucks it became more of a big deal because of who Chris is.

Not trying to br a jerk or push you one way or another, but the only field I see there not covered by discogs is "vox: male." Every other field is almost identical.

I've never had any issues posting new stuff on discogs and I've made a few entries. If you make a correction to an entry it has to have a note as to why the correction was made and people usually just throw in a quick explanation which I guess could come off rude? It's never bothered me though unless someone makes a "correction" that is actually inaccurate.
