  1. This is really, really shitty. You guys think the distributor(s) just payed no mind whatsoever to the different variants and sent them out as if there wasn't a distinction between orders? I'm expecting mine tomorrow...
  2. Still waiting for mine to show up. Hoping it will be grey marble and not black. Plenty of those hanging out at my local store. Also, after 6+ listens, I've formulated a conclusive opinion: Solid record with the exception of the choruses in Wake Up, and Stay With Me. Whistleblower's lyrics are a tad annoying to me, but the instrumentation and the 5/8 goodness makes up for it. Hurricane, The Window, The Long Defeat, and Salt and Shadow are all fantastic Thrice songs. I've gotta add, though, that I share the sentiment that this encroaches upon "dad rock." I find it hard to set my Thrice bias aside with this one; would I enjoy it as much if I never heard of Thrice before or if I hadn't been a massive fan for the last 14 years? I'm not sure.
  3. Does the booklet contain liner notes like The Alchemy Index, Beggars, and Major/Minor?
  4. "Smoke" is totally grey marble... Unless my eyes are deceiving me on Instagram.
  5. So shitty. My thoughts are with you. And I, much like the other two before me, am afraid that the same thing will happen to me. Ughhhh
  6. I don't feel like I'm comfortable gauging the album as a whole yet, given that EVERY Thrice album post-TAITA took 5+ listens for me to even gain a decent handle on. Of course, people are entitled to their opinions, but for this one, I think it's important for people to give it more of a chance. However, after 4 listens, the only tracks that I'm having a difficult time getting into are Wake Up and Stay with Me. Both of their choruses are really, really, poppy sounding. My favorites thus far are Hurricane, The Window, The Long Defeat, and Salt and Shadow. The hate I'm reading here for The Window is kind of blowing my mind. The lyrics are sick and very illustrative- their content totally fits the creepy and heavy dissonance. I'm looking forward to diving further into this album.
  7. There's a dude who posted a WTB thread that I know desperately wants this. Txdrmst or something like that.
  8. This was super helpful. Thanks! Thrice has been my favorite band since The Artist in the Ambulance and my favorite records of theirs are Vheissu and TAI. Maybe I came across a bit negative on my last post- I totally didn't mean to. There's really no way Thrice could "lose me."
  9. Care to elaborate on this? I'm not really sure what you mean. Are you saying that the general sound/vibe of the album falls in between these two tracks, where Blood on the Sand and Black Honey represent the polar extremes? The last thing I wanna do is knock Thrice, but if my interpretation of what you've said is correct, that would be a huge shame; as I think those songs are not terribly different from each other.
  10. They put up another teaser, for "The Window," on instagram and facebook. Heavies, dirties, groovies. What I'm hearing in this latest teaser is the type of sound I was hoping for with this release. If they sprinkle some ambience/twinkly goodies (i.e. Atlantic, anything on Water, Circles, etc.) in addition, I will be more than a happy camper. Given that they've been releasing these small snippets chronologically on a daily basis, I fully expect to hear a snippet of Wake Up tomorrow, and so on. Pretty cool.
  11. Thrice have been, bar none, my favorite band since The Artist in the Ambulance was released, and every single one of their releases deeply resonates with me on some level. With that said, I'm pretty disappointed with Blood on the Sand and am truly hoping that it is by far the worst track on the album. It is a straight-up radio rock song. Worse yet, and despite their current relevance, the lyrics are overwhelmingly straight forward and lack depth. They seem like a dumbed-down version of Cold Cash. Aside from my disappointment in the new track, the 15 second instagram snippet of a different song was super promising, and I still trust that Thrice are incapable of making a bad record. Keeping my fingers crossed. Oh, and for once my awaking repeatedly throughout the night had served me well- I was able to grab a colored 180g.
  12. This soundtrack, though it flows and feels more like a proper studio full-length, is truly awesome. I think it's their best work since Mr. Beast, and I've liked quite literally every bit of their corpus.
  13. Shit. Here I was thinking it had already shipped and they just weren't sending shipping confirmations
  14. The blue variant from their webstore appears to be available again: http://explosionsinthesky.merchline.com/products/the-wilderness
  15. In for the 180g black. These guys brought it down heavy in Madison with Caspian. Such a killer show. I'm hoping for a headlining tour (if that's realistic) in support for the album. And if beggars can be choosers, they'll swing by Milwaukee and do another acoustic thingy in the abandoned pool in the basement of The Rave/Eagles Club.
  16. If anyone's willing to sell a copy of the /350 180g black, please shoot me a PM! Really trying to score a super-solid listening copy. My color-in-color showed up with a massive scuff spanning half of My Little Wish and the duration of Song Silly that makes both tracks unlistenable.
  17. 100% Also, I unfortunately missed them when they played most recently in Chicago (for both riot fest and the after show) due to a wedding that weekend; massive, massive bummer. A good friend of mine who attended bought a PLAY DEADBOLT shirt for me because he knows how much I appreciate those folk.
  18. I'm really hoping that the text on the insert is/are lyrics. That would be awesome; especially since I'm not particularly gifted in deciphering toe lyrics to begin with.
  19. I apoloigize, I should've made it clearer that I was attempting to make a joke- albeit a bad one. I'm usually the one at the show who is having watery light beer spilled all over them by someone shouting "PLAY DEADBOLT!" All poor jokes and passive-aggressive complaining aside, I'm really looking forward to whatever they release next. That being said, I'm an avid all of their previous efforts as well.
  20. Deadbolt New album Vheissu The Alchemy Index Beggars The Illusion of Safety Major/Minor The Artist in the Ambulance Identity Crisis
  21. I'm with you on this new song, Don. Absolutely killer tune. Love the hand percussion and the space-rock sounding sample in the beginning. Need I even mention the overdriven bass about 1/4 of the way through? Welp, I did. This shit rules. Just got way more pumped for the full album.
