  1. But it looks nice! I found this on the Kanye West blog, which has some great stuff! Kanye Blog: http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/?em3106=241571_-1__0_%257E0_-1_5_2008_0_0&em3161&em3281 Galibier Design: http://www.galibierdesign.com/prd_stelvio.html it costs $15,000!!!! I suppose if you're spending loads and loads of money on super-rare collectors vinyl it would be fitting that you listen to it on a super-expensive player. I bet it's like an orgasm in your ears.
  2. As embarrasing as it may be, I only just started to get into Bad Religion, I know a couple newer songs from Punk-o-rama CD's. But I picked up their first 7" when it got re-released for record store day. I was really excited about it and listen to it a lot. I had been wondering where to start in listening to them, I'll use this thread!
  3. I know this sounds like it would be horrible, but it's actually pretty good, at least I like it. I thought some people here may appreciate it. I'm not well versed in my Dylan, so I couldn't tell you what songs are on here. It's a mix of Dylan playing, K'Naan and J Period adding new beats and some vocals, and some clips of various interviews. It's really mellow and tactfully done. It's sounds great! I found it on Hiphopdx.com (which has some great mixtapes on it!)...here's the link: '>http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/mixtape/id.939/title.knaan-j-period-present-the-messengers-bob-dylan Also there's a Bob Marley one, haven't listened to it yet but...: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/mixtape/id.932/title.the-messengers-2-bob-marley
  4. I saw them in Manchester UK a month ago, they played ten minutes right before Walking on a Wire, which I thought was an incredibly weird choice. Everyone went nuts for 10 minutes and then no one gave a fuck about Walking on a Wire, then they disappeared and came back for the encore that they ended with I'll Catch You, which is a great song, don't get me wrong, but I think it's a horrible way to end your set, especially a reunion set! That was just me though.
  5. This band is fucking amazing. The new record is incredible. I saw them twice last week, and talked to the singer for a while about some pretty serious stuff. They're so confrontational which is pretty rare these days, plus it's a fucking great live show! Awesome band, I would totally recommend this to anyone who likes heavy music. In my humble opinion it's the best record Deathwish has put out since Blacklisted's Heavier than Heaven.
  6. So this same seller has what looks like two versions of Have Heart's Things They Carry...both listed on ebay, they end within 1 minute of each other. Both on brown swirl out of 640. One goes for $25 the other for $96. Why would that happen? Am I missing something? http://cgi.ebay.com/Have-Heart-12-vinyl-Rare-reign-supreme-bane-verse-B9_W0QQitemZ140340445379QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item20acf140c3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 http://cgi.ebay.com/Have-Heart-12-vinyl-Rare-reign-supreme-bane-verse-B9_W0QQitemZ140340445554QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item20acf14172&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
  7. So Holy Roar Records is re-pressing East of Eden in the UK. http://holyroarrecords.bigcartel.com/product/trash-talk-east-of-eden-son-of-a-bitch This time it's in color and it's the same insert as package B form the US press. It'll also be available with Trash Talk on their UK dates later in August. From Trash Talk blog To those of you who missed out in March, the sold out East of Eden single is being repressed in the UK by our friends at Holy Roar. Pre-orders for the limited run, colored vinyl repress are available now so don't miss it again. with shipping to the US it's 7 pounds, which is about 11$ I would guess.
  8. I'm so happy! I'm not even upset that I bought the CD just 1 week ago...Totally putting this on credit! Things like this are the reason I keep coming back to this board!
  9. I'm pretty sure it's a bootleg. It's a gatefold with a black cover and the red Q and semen dude; black on double LP. Incidentally it still sounds good which I'm always happy about. I think spending 25 pounds on it was a bit much, but I don't mind because I just want it to listen to!
  10. Yeah, Songs for the Deaf is on black it says it was manufactured by Interscope and it has the Ipecac logo on it. When I played it I thought the vinyl was a little bit on the light side, but that probably has more to do with saving money than anything else. I suppose there had to be something that people did before the internets and burning CD's and home taping! I'm checking out popsike and they show a couple of different versions. The cover that matches my LP are all red and the black ones are similar to the original cover. Then there's a bunch with the different cover (the big Q with the sperm) in different colors.
  11. I suppose I'm really naive, but what's the deal with Bootleg copies of vinyl? I picked up QOTSA and they say that only red was pressed and that the rest are bootleg, mine is on black. So what's up, does some guy just get a bunch pressed and then sell them with no money going to the band? I would assume it's illegal too. I don't care too much about it but I was just interested. I hear that's there's Nirvana bootlegs too on here. Is it more of a British thing? And why does a "normal" store like Sister Ray's in London sell them? I would guess a stall in Camden would have bootlegs but not a store...Does anyone know the deal? Thanks
  12. Went to London dropped about 60 pounds on vinyl! Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf (black 2xLP) SSS - The Dividing Line (came with a free 7") (red 12") Fake Problems - It's Great to be Alive (clear purple 12") Sinking Ships - Ten (pink 7") Bad Reaction - Dare to be Dull (black 7") Bracewar - S/T (black 7")
  13. At the Have Heart/Shipwreck A.D. show in London the other night I picked up a flyer advertising a new Bane 7" from Hurry Up! Records in Europe I haven't heard anything about the U.S. Press. From hurryuphc.com: Jul 07 | BANE on HURRY UP! Records Yes. It is not a joke. Long time HC guys in what could be considered one of the most important, sincere, dedicated, passionate, honest, hard working bands of the last decade decided to record some new songs and have friends all around the world release it. And HURRY UP! happens to be one of them, concerning Europe and South America. It all started for us from the South American tour we booked about a year ago. Incredible. A band that not long ago I would just be happy to be able to see playing at a show, happened to be a band that accepted to be on a tour HUP organized with our modest possibilities, a band where I filled in and a band we will now be given the chance to release something of. Most importantly, some awesome people that I'm very happy to not only consider more than just a band, but as Aaron Bedard says, “a family”. BANE are at this moment recording 6 new songs, and Hurry Up! will be releasing the European version of them as two 7” and (probably) a CD. More details about artwork, pressing info, pre-order deals and so on are coming soon. For now we are just STOKED. We hope you are too.
  14. Sounds great. I'm stoked to see them in Belgium in September with Guns Up!
  15. Hey, I know this is vinyl only section, but I thought it fits better on this page than the other one. Polar Bear Club has their Redder the Better EP for sale for $10 shipped at http://polarbearclub.bigcartel.com/. They say that only 1000 were made so I figured people would be interested. According to Dead Format this was never printed on vinyl, can people confirm this? Anyway, I'm picking it up thought others would be interested!
  16. You know what's really disappointing is that I just listened to Frank Turner for the first time this week! I don't know why I finally looked him up but I've been listening to him non-stop! It's one of those times where I'm totally kicking myself for not listening to him earlier!
  17. I put yes, but I would have to really like the band, and it better be more than just a teaser for an upcoming release or a collection of shitty covers or seem like a way to make a bunch of extra money. I've spent that much on a double 7". You'd have to really convince me...
  18. So I had something kind of shitty happen to me the other day (long story) and I was upset and there happened to be some people selling records nearby (the German distro Green Hell) and I was flipping through and I bought the new Coalesce because it was heavy and I heard it had great packaging and art work. I ended up paying 18 Euro for it, more than I would usually spend. But I'm a sucker for picking up a record at a store and feeling the weight of it and thinking it must be cool and fancy because it's so heavy and so I buy it. When I listen to it though all I want is to hear the music and to have the lyrics to read along with. Oh, and I'm not a fan of black and white unless it's done well, saving money by printing your colors in grey bugs me (Bridge 9 did that with Paint it Black).
  19. To look on the positive side the longer this is delayed the less time it sits in my parents house in the US waiting for me to get back to listen to it! (I know that doesn't help anyone else, but it makes me feel better). I'm so excited to get home and listen to it!
  20. That's what I thought. They're huge here in Britain their new video is on the same channel and show as Beyonce and stuff.
  21. ^hahaha, that's great. I always wondered about those fire-safes. Like what the fuck do you do when your whole house burns to the ground? Do you bust out a rake and look for a "box that's a little black on the outside but has a shit ton of money in it"?
  22. I remember seeing a quote from Henry Ford once (I think it was in the liner notes for Reflux' Illusion of Democracy) where he said something along the lines of "if the people knew how the banking system worked there would be a revolution by morning." Now I'm not an anarchist, nor do I want to add to that debate that happens on here on occasion, but I'm kind of on a search to find out what he means. I believe that there is a connection between the credit "crisis" and my bank account (although I don't know what that is). I know that I have a serious distrust in any group that holds my money, if it weren't for online shopping and paychecks I would keep money under my mattress or in a hollowed out book. I had a bank account with a major banking corporation (it was Washington Mutual but it doesn't matter because they're all the fucking same!) that I got a bunch of charges from. I had over-drafted on my checking account. Definitely my fault (although it was by less than $10 and I got a $35 fee) but they didn't take money from my savings account because it was not "linked" (I got my statements on the same piece of paper in the same envelope in the mail, how is that not linked?). What they did do was take money out of my grandfather and my brother's accounts to "make up for it" (because my mom was a co-signer on all the accounts). Anyway, my major beef with these banks is that they have your money and can do whatever they want with it. If you get a parking ticket then the Government has to ask you for money to pay the fee. Although it is illegal not to, they cannot compel you to do it. You have to go to the court house and give them your money. The bank on the other hand can just take your money for a fee without your permission! That's stealing! I switched my bank account to a local credit union. Credit Union's are non-profit and my dad told me he has gotten charges 100% reversed when he explained the circumstance to them. Credit unions can still do whatever they want with my money and my credit card from this credit union is still a Visa but it makes me feel a little bit better to have a non-profit group hold my money.
  23. Basically what happens is I go to a record store and leave with 2 new records. Then I get home and I'm just browsing the net (usually this message board) and I find a bunch of cool stuff. A lot of impulse buying. I'm a sucker when it comes to new vinyl. Ultimately I wouldn't care because I love buying new records and have no regrets at all about the records I've bought, but I need to be a bit more careful with my money. What I'll do is make a list of records I really want. Jane Doe will be one of them for sure. Then I'll keep to buying only those. The tattoo is more of an idea, I don't know if I'll actually do it. I'm sure I'll decide it's too much and not get one at all. This is something in my life that I really love. The idea having a large piece of art that also plays great music; putting the needle on the vinyl and hearing that direct transfer to my speakers including all of the slight imperfections! It's a great feeling. At least there's no bets involved!! One of my roommates decided not to eat any treats for 6 months! 2 months into it and now she has to run naked down the street. I'm not going to make that mistake!
  24. So I agreed with my roommates to give up buying vinyl records until August! They're letting me pick up some vinyl if Have Heart has some when I see them in July but other than that I can't! I'm really hoping Blacklisted's new pre-order doesn't happen anytime soon, and finding out about the new On LP is pissing me off! I'm sure with my luck that Jane Doe will come out in this time period! I have tried explaining to my roommates (who hardly knew vinyl was still being released!) that records come out in limited quantities and that missing by a month or so means potentially missing out for a long time! Reasons why: I make 70 Pounds a week I have 100 Pounds total in savings and cash right now I want to spend some time in Europe before I go home I'm planning a tattoo that will likely be really expensive I don't know how I'm going to get 40 odd records I've bought in the UK home I don't have a ticket home yet! Is it worth it?
