  1. My copy of Background Music arrived today, on black, it's in good condition with a hint of wear on the corners, but seen as it's been floating around warehouses for god-knows how long, I don't really care. I'm just glad to have it!
  2. I've gotten a lot of good stuff lately (in my opinion): from Reflections Records: Give Up The Ghost - Background Music LP on black 7 Seconds/Kill Your Idols split 7" on red On - Control EP from Bridge 9: Paint it Black - Amnesia 7" Ramallah - But a Whimper 2x7" R'n'R/Fit For Abuse split 7" from Ebay: SSS first 7" xOne Wayx/Youth of Strength LP
  3. Not sure if people here are into Give up the Ghost. But Reflections Records in Europe is selling a few copies for 18 Euro each. Shipping to the U.S. may be a bit too pricey though. There's no word on how many they have or colors or anything like that Equal Vision / Burning Heart. We somehow managed to get some copies of this long sold out vinyl edition from one of the most important hardcore bands of the last decade. Get it while you can, goes for a LOT more on ebay! that's all they say, I ordered a copy of Background Music on friday, I'll let you know when I get it. 4. Thank you very much, that seems to be working now, all it needs to do is last 3 months and I'll be happy!
  5. Hey guys, I need a bit of help. I just put in my new copy of POS's Never Better and it's either too fast (on 45 rpm) or too slow (on 33). Has anyone had this happen before? I don't know much about turntables or anything... I paid 10 pounds UK for it and it's worked for like a week without any issues. I'm living in the UK for a couple more months and it's not worth it to me to put much money into this as I'll just be leaving it here. It's an old Hitatchi set, with radio and cassette combo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks much!
  6. i figured this would be about Fox News; by the way has anyone seen Andrew W.K. or Damien from Fucked Up on there? Apparently they're new commentators on Fox.
  7. I just picked up Murder City Devil's re-issued Thelema on marbled white. And while the shop owner was putting it in the bag I looked around at the records he had on display and there was the Bad Religion 7" from record store day! I was so excited and I asked him if I could pick it up and he was like "well, I was holding it for Josh but it's been like three weeks so that's his problem." I still haven't stopped smiling I figured they were long gone! I don't know how many they pressed, I got a red one, I've heard 400 but it's the European version, but I'm fucking stoked anyway! I suppose I could say the other records I've picked up recently Ritual - Beneath Aging Flesh and Bone Arcade Fire - Funeral Trash Talk - Self-Titled (European press) and I bought Thrice's Alchemy Index (This is the third time I've bought it, this time I think I won't have to ask for a refund)
  8. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly The Battle of Algiers There Will Be Blood The Fog of War La Haine The first three I know are my favorite, trying to figure out two more is stupid hard!
  9. Chuck Ragan - Do You Pray 7 Seconds - I See You Found Another Trophy Living Sacrifice - The Poisoning Cloud Cult - It's What You Need The Now-Denial - The Fat Cat Emiliana Torrini - Jungle Drum Ennio Morricone - Per Qualche Dollaro in Piu Reflux - The Keats Persona Mikaela's Fiend - Steve's Mom's Song Muse - The Small Print I once did this for a myspace blog, I typed like 150 of them! I guess I had nothing better to do. If you're interested http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=127541295&blogId=473128659
  10. I see the guy in the back is smiling, but I can't tell if the one in the front is, hmmm...
  11. That's what seems to happen a lot here in Britain. I was living at my grandparents and my Grandpa comes up to me and says "have you been downloading a lot of music?" I had told him earlier about discovering the B-Sides and out-of-print forum on here and how I had found a ton of good shit and I told him "yeah, I've downloaded a few." He goes "Okay, because we have a 10gb limit on our internet and we were over 100gb this month." Shit! I just said sorry and he dropped it, I don't know how much extra it cost him, I didn't tell him that I'd downloaded all three seasons of Arrested Development, BBC's Planet Earth series along with about 20 other movies!
  12. The last jeans I had to get rid of was because they were too thin to sew anymore. You could see the color of my skin through them they were so thin
  13. I'm kind of an anarchist; I identify with a lot of anarchist principles. Especially the ideas that help larger humanity, ie. people over profit (as the popular slogan goes). But my belief in anarchism is close to my adherence to a straight edge lifestyle, I don't need everyone to know it nor do I believe that it is perfect or will last me for the rest of my life. On the flip-side I feel we need to recognize the benefits that capitalism has brought about, too many people see ONLY the bad and none of the good. Things like easier access to needed resources, increased standard of living, as well as incredible access to information through resources like the internet. My main concern with what you say Brad is that the poor are better off now than they were however many years ago. You said that you meant the impoverished in the west, in capitalistic countries and you would be right, people have access to welfare and other benefits they would have never dreamed off a hundred years ago. But poverty hasn't changed in undeveloped countries. There is certainly horrible poverty in the U.S. I have worked at a couple of soup kitchens in both the U.S. and Britain as well as with Food not Bombs and can attest to that. But there is a more incredible poverty faced by people who live in countries like Sudan, North Korea, Zimbabwe and Mexico to name only four. If every country in the World lived like Americans did, with our incredible standard of living, even if we lived like the French or the Swedes this World would be in a world of hurt! There is already the concern brought about by human involvement leading to global climate change. That would be multiplied exponentially if the World were to adopt a western lifestyle. (I'm not trying to detract from the work that is being done in the third world by various charitable groups, individuals and to a lesser extent Governments such as well digging, sexual education and food donation. But the extreme poverty is not taken away.) Capitalism has only and can only benefit the west, other than that there needs to be a "radical revolution of values" as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once called for. I believe more in the new ideas that have yet to come out. People seem to think that there is nothing besides democracy, communism, socialism and anarchism.
  14. I hadn't heard of them either. I was reading the website and I read that their music is "racist, sexist, pedophilic, and demeaning music that glorifies underage sex, hard drinkin, and 'getting crunk'" and I was thinking well, that's not too bad. Then I read that they had "unpatriotic views" and I was like "whoa! Shit! Fucking assholes!"
  15. I just got my Rivalry Order in! Paint it Black - New Lexicons on blue Soul Control - Involution on red Go it Alone - Histories on white Go it Alone - Histories single on black Go it Alone/Blue Monday - split on white Really stoked on this!
  16. My dad is okay with Arcade Fire's Neon Bible record. I tried Thrice's Vheissu on a road trip, we listened to it twice and then he said it was too heavy and put in some of his crap (Christian worship music). He really likes Bright Eyes. He always asks to hear "Road to Joy." He likes the song, but I think he's more into the lyrics as my dad is a pastor and is interested in the line, "my parents they have their religion but sleep in separate houses"
  17. Don't know how I forgot the Blue Scholars, definitely check out the Blue Scholars from Seattle, it's that northwest classic!
  18. I cancelled my order a few weeks ago. I'm pissed it's taking so long. I mean, I know it's a lot of work but then don't promise it so soon. I don't have the resources to have money just floating around. When it comes out I should have my tax return and I may be able to afford it. Shit, at this rate I may be back in the U.S. (I'll be home for thanksgiving) and it'll be way cheaper!
  19. I'm a big fan of MF Doom (now just Doom apparently), P.O.S. and Sage Francis. Grandmaster Flash has a new album that I like, Public Enemy are great too of course. I would really recommend Epik High, they're a Korean hip hop group, so most of it's in Korean but the English stuff is really good too. They're super huge in Korea so the bonus is if you ever meet someone from Korea you can ask them about Epik High and they get really excited. Definitely check them out. My friend just introduced me to Buck 65, he's really good and has some free things floating around the internets. Immortal Technique is a radical political rapper, and of course you can't forget Atmosphere
  20. So I'm not going to bother going through the whole damn thread to see if anyone posted this site. There's a blog online specifically for B-Sides and rarities that I just discovered. A lot of the more popular stuff that is posted here is on this site.../http://bsidesrus.blogspot.com/
  21. Phil Ochs - Pleasures of the Harbor Godspeed You Black Emperor - Yanqui U.X.O. The Shins - Oh, Inverted World Champion - Promises Kept (I paid 5 pounds for it. About $8 American, it's the European press on white out of 200 that just sold for $53 on ebay!)
  22. Well if they do re-press it let's hope they use cobraside, I hear that they're a good company!
  23. That's what I was thinking! I saw them open up a set once and right before they came on stage I turned to my friend and said something like "alright motherfuckers, are you fucking ready?" and the singer came out and said almost exactly that! Then I left
  24. Here's a throwdown record that I think a seller got a little too ambitious on... http://cgi.ebay.com/Throwdown-Haymaker-Test-Press-Trapped-Under-Ice-Bane_W0QQitemZ320348544474QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMus ic_on_Vinyl?hash=item320348544474&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3 A1|294%3A50[blockquote]
