  2. I'm going to wait a while on this...based on the songs released...I'm not really feeling the "Terminal Addiction"
  3. http://trashtalkhc.com/eyesandnines/ Looks like they have four colors but you get the most limited color if you order all four as a package...then there's a shirt option with a secret design on it... I got the clear color!
  4. I saw Black Breath a couple nights ago for their tour kick-ff and they had copies of the new LP on Blue. Maybe they only have a few of those or something because they're about to go on tour with Converge and Coalesce. That album sounds so fucking awesome! The artwork is really cool too! It's so over-the-top evil! I have been listening to it pretty much non-stop since I got it! "Reject Christ, spit on the cross!!!"
  5. I'm so so so bummed I missed the Power and the Glory!!!! I guess being 24 hours behind kind of hurts when there's only 66 of them!!
  6. Against Me! 7" Gorillaz - White Flag Soundgarden 7" Fucked Up 7" (Wax Trax version, hit me up if you want to trade Devin R, or maybe I'll just PM you) Flaming Lips doing Dark Side of the Moon According to No Idea Porchlight Coffee was the only place in Seattle that had copies of HWM, but the shipment never arrived so I reserved a copy! I also picked up S.A. Smash debut LP (and only LP due to the death of Camu). One of the most underrated hip hop acts in my opinion! Good day! Too bad I didn't come across the Beastie Boys 12" though I may have a second chance as I'm off to see Minus the Bear do a free In-store this afternoon!
  7. For the most part I really enjoy bands that has cool singalongs and that people can get way into (I know it's a bit of a gimmick but it's fun and energetic). So some of my favorite shows like that were: Stretch Arm Strong: they could have played only For the Record and then their cover of Express Yourself and I would have been happy! Guns Up: was really fun, they played to like 300 kids at their only European show in like 3 years or something! But as far as actual good live bands go: Thrice: My friend kept saying they were good but I didn't believe him until I saw them live and was blown away! Now I'm a huge fan! The King Blues: Saw this English band with Gaslight Anthem and they (almost) stole the show! Worst bands live: I don't think that there's many bands that I already liked that had really shitty sets, besides Warped Tour stuff...I did think that the Get Up Kids had a really weird set list when I saw them last year, it wasn't bad, just really odd! Oh, Set Your Goals on the NFG tour was okay, their sound is better suited to a small show with a few hundred kids, not a 6 foot stage in front of a few thousand. Oh yeah, and Deftones sucked!
  8. I'm excited for that show! I decided to order one just in case they don't have any for Seattle people or something.
  9. I caught them a little while ago (I think at the Hope Con show in Seattle), they were really good! I was blown away. This is something I am definitely stoked for!
  10. They play one of their new songs on a BBC radio show: %5Burl%5Dhttp://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00rhdl6'> http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00rhdl6 It took me a few listens to really get into it, but now I think it's really cool! It's a pretty long song too! Oh, and you'll want to go ahead and skip to 56:25 to hear it...I wouldn't want you to be listening to whatever else the show's about!
  11. Personally I've never really listened to them but a friend from high school posted a bunch of pictures on the internets when he saw them recently in Spokane: http://sdobbins.tumblr.com/post/438521327/the-shots-from-311-last-thursday-which-i-ran-out http://www.flickr.com/photos/sdobbins/4408820161/
  12. I was at the show with Envision and Diver Down, great set I did not expect anything that good. Especially after hearing At the Mouth of Hell who I thought were also really good. I spent my $10 on a shirt so I couldn't get the LP, I'll have to order that!
  13. My Six Feet Under Records order finally came! Blacklisted - Eccentrichine 7" Mother of Mercy - III Justice - Live and Learn 12"
  14. I know that those kind of record players are pretty hated, but I paid $15 for it 6 years ago and it hasn't failed me yet! Oh, and the desk was spotted in an alley!
  15. Fucked Up - Couple Tracks 2XLP w/ 7" Blackalicious - The Craft 2XLP Citizen Fish/Leftover Crack - Split 7" Chuck Ragan/Brian Fallon - Gospel Songs 7" Dead Kennedy's - Nazi Punks Fuck Off! 7" Power - Spreading the Tie Dye Reality 7" Bad Religion - bootleg of 4 cover songs on a 7" Tampere SS - Sotaa E.P. 7" Get The Most - Common Goals - 7" Not Sorry - Moving On 7 Stillborn - 7" One Kind Word - Hardcore Compilation 7" Black Flag - TV Party 7" Pennsy's Electric Workhorses - Songs 7" Infect - Estrepito 7" Policy - 187 7" Reagan Youth - Vol 1 LP In the mail: Blacklisted - Eccentrichine 7" Mother of Mercy - III LP Justice - Live and Learn 12" Kieltolaki - Totaalisen Tuhon Huominen 7" Balance/Harda Tider - Split 7" Unhinged - Crimes And Punishment cassette Any Last Words - s/t 7" Oh my god, listing it all out like that shows me that I've been spending a bit too much, granted this is over a month or so, but still.
  16. I just bought that tape last week at Goodwill for $.10! My first record that I bought doesn't include the $1 records that I bought at Goodwill when I first got a player (stuff like Beach Boys, Rush, Eric Clapton etc.) I can't remember which one I actually bought, it's either: Nodes of Ranver - S/T or Japanther - The Operating Manual For Life on Earth (it's a 12" with an etched B-Side. I felt ripped off because there was no artwork and some drawing on the back, but the drawing's actually kind of cool)
  17. From the Stranger (my favorite part of Seattle): Police officers in Everett, Washington decided that the best way to spend their time—and spend taxpayers' dough—was cracking down on the perverted, nasty, please-don't-make-them-see-it phenomenon of mostly naked women serving drive-through coffee. It was a tough assignment, but they prevailed. To prove that the women at Grab-n-Go Espresso were straddling the sill of the to-go window while wearing panties without crotches, licking whipped cream off of one another, and otherwise exposing their nether-parts to men, officers—naturally—had to take pictures. Officials have charged the women, who are scheduled for a hearing January 11, with prostitution. Reluctantly, officers released those photos yesterday, pursuant to a public records request by the Everett Herald, but the staff at the Everett Herald had the good taste not to run those pictures. Fortunately, we don't have that good taste here at The Stranger. And while we don't really want nether-bits whipping around our open coffee cups (maybe just a health-code violation is in order), we think it's a poor use of law-enforcement resources to repeatedly send officers day-in, day-out to photograph women's nether-bits, just to charge them with misdemeanors. At that point, a cop is a pornographer, right? So we're posting them here, on Slog, your reaching-for-the-gutter hometown blog, because if you're paying for pornographers, then you're paying to see the pornography. http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2010/01/08/your-tax-dollars-hard-at-nsfw
  18. I just went looking for my Blue Scholars record to put it on and I don't know how I forgot to mention Def Jux records. I have a triple LP set from them I bought a few years ago that has some incredible music on it! They're similar to Rhymesayers but not as big. Some recommended artists from DJX: S.A. Smash Aesop Rock Hangar 18 El-P Despot
  19. When MC's do mixtapes it tends to be them just floating some ideas around. Kanye has done three mixtapes he calls Freshmen Adjustment 1, 2 & 3. On those you'll find some verses or choruses put to different beats or vice versa. I would definitely recommend them, if you're into Kanye. Lupe Fiasco had some really cool mixtapes also, he re-did six songs from Demon Days by the Gorillaz in a mixtape called "A Ryhming Ape" or it's the third in his First and Fifteenth mixtapes. hiphopdx.com is an incredible resource for mixtapes! I check it all the time, and they have some pretty cool reviews. It's like punknews for hip hop (and like punknews I don't bother reading the comments section!) As far as recommending some hip hop, this is what I listen to: Blue Scholars...Great hip hop from Seattle, they include a lot of politics, I listen to them all the time! Dyme Def...from Seattle, read about them on Hiphopdx, they sample a lot of stuff Emilio Rojas...from New York, I read about him on Hiphopdx Grayskul...I can't remember anything about them, just that I have it and like it Saul Williams...This guy is great if you like weird or interesting beats and music, his latest was produced mostly by Trent Reznor. Ghostface Killah...what is there to say about Tony Starks that hasn't been said? Jurassic 5...I'd be upset if there was a hip hop discussion without mentioning J5 Blackalicious...I actually just heard these guys, I'd heard a ton of great stuff and it's really good. K'naan...I love this guy, he's from Somalia and uses that well: "I make 50 Cent look like Limp Bizkit, it's true!"
  20. Thanks for the help, just spent about an hour or so going through all kinds of websites. Now that I think about it it's kind of like asking for a cool vinyl online vinyl store, there's just so many of them...I think I'm going to go with a couple of things from Aesthetic Apparatus, they have some MBD and Dinosaur Jr!
  21. So I found this website a little while ago, well a print shop I guess based in/near Toronto called Doublenaut. They had some cool Murder by Death and Flight of the Conchords stuff. My brother is into those bands and I thought that would make a cool x-mas gift. Could anyone help me find any other print shops with an online presence that I could buy from? Or, any local print shops in the Seattle area?
  22. Makes you wonder why she settled with Homer! I found this on Kanye West's blog, it's really cool if you're into pop culture stuff/fashion/photography/interesting little gadgets/old school hip-hop videos/new hip-hop songs and collaborations etc. But they update it all the freaking time so it's hard to keep track of what's going on there. http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/?em3106=241969_-1__0_~0_-1_10_2009_0_0&em3298=&em3282=&em3281=&em3161=
