  1. I had my 12 year old brother listen to it, and he said: "The vocalist's voice is whiny and I didn't like it that much" He never likes anything I play for him anyway
  2. On Bull Moose, this says it'll ship on 9/21/15, and the other releases are shipping on 10/1/15. If I buy one of each and choose the "free shipping over $25" option, will it ship them on those dates, or will it ship them together on October 1st?
  3. As it would appear, I can save myself from being 6 years late if I listen to it before midnight tonight!
  4. Contest isn't closed yet, so I'll do my last two track reviews: Song: Tourist Much like the end of the closing track, the opening has the signature crackles of spinning a record (which, like I said before, I can't help but smile at). The opening notes give me warm, almost nostalgic flashbacks to the "Intro" track on A Day to Remember's first album, And Their Name Was Treason, which is a few mere piano notes that give a haunting atmosphere. I noted in the "Night Owl" review that I love songs with a build and payoff, and this song has just that. Even though it starts soft, it comes back up to a good level of loudness (that is to say, "not crossing the boundaries of the Loudness Wars"-level). In fact, the whole song feels like an intro for the next track... Song: Limbs I absolutely love it when songs lead into one another, as in playing them back-to-back gives a "one long song" experience. It makes me ecstatic just to think that the idea of an album as an art form isn't yet dead. As previously mentioned, "Tourist" leads into this track and the payoff carries itself all the way to the end. Aside from the delightfully 'hum-along-able' vocals, I especially enjoy the guitar work. There's much to be said in music about the idea of negative space, and how sometimes silence is just as important as the noise that accompanies it. This concept is well-executed with the periodic pause that accompanies the main riff. I don't even know if I can do anything else for more entries at this point, but I think this puts me up to seven...
  5. Oh, Matt: Someone put Tertia on /r/DownloadCodes, and I got one, so I'll be checking that out today.
  6. How's Substance sound, and was it a gatefold or single pocket? I've heard conflicting reports.
  7. Great to hear! I'm in for sure then. I looked over last year's rules, and it looks like there was a link for putting your information in (which was removed and now says "CLOSED"). Is there another link I'm somehow not seeing for this year?
  8. My thoughts exactly. I feel like, as much as it's cool information, it's not really necessary for day-to-day life unless you're shooting for something in a history-related/political field.
  9. I think it was around that time that kess changed his name to Kanye West.
  10. I opted to take every AP class except history because I felt like I needed a break on at least one core class. It's the most worthless to the profession I want to go into anyway.
  11. You have AP in tenth grade? AP is only available to eleventh + at my school. And I was possessed to take 'em because...well, you once called me an overachiever, and I guess I'll go with that.
  12. No, I don't want to buy Amity Affliction. Never even heard of 'em...keep those to yourself I thought you were selling stuff on your tradelist.
  13. The title of the post confuses me. Are you also selling things on your list, or is this just a WTB/WTTF? I'm interested in buying if you're selling.
  14. I started my summer assignment for AP Physics today. Can't say I'm a fan of it so far. I already forgot the majority of what I learned in trig...
  15. Found it; conveniently placed it under a spoiler so that it doesn't take up the whole page.
  16. There is, yeah. Also, I know it's been said, but when you look at a bake post, go in expecting it to be a joke, then decide whether or not he's serious. His stuff is great, but I don't think he'll ever top the scripts he did for a flipping-central Breaking Bad parody. I'm gonna try to find that and read it again...
  17. Nearly forgot to do more track reviews: Song: Flower It has kind of a backwards feel to it. Instead of beginning soft and kicking in later, it opens with an energetic drumbeat and riff. It's enough to bob your head to while listening, for sure. A point of interest is the use of cymbals in the second verse. It uniquely doesn't follow the standard of keeping the beat, but instead provides a background rhythm in conjunction with the kick drum. Song: Something Borrowed, Something Blue When I review any album, I always make a priority out of two songs in particular: The opener and the closer. The closing song on a record can take a few approaches, the worst of which being "nothing unique; just another song on a collection of other songs". With "Something Borrowed, Something Blue", this is not the case, as it takes the route of "acoustic slow song with an absence of percussion". After a predominantly emo-and-electric record, the contrast is refreshing. Within the same genre, I'd say that this song is in a similar vein to Brand New's "Play Crack the Sky", if only for its place and purpose on the record, which is well-executed. Even without any other supporting instruments, it's a satisfying conclusion to Tourist. (Also, though it's a bit played-out, I do always love hearing fake crackles on songs meant to emulate the feel of spinning a record). I could review the interlude/shorter tracks, but I feel like that would be cheating!
  18. I don't think it's gonna be there "for good", is it? The website still says limited edition.
