  1. What about using wood glue to peel away the gunk? I am just throwing this out there, because a lot of people swear that it works. I have never done it myself, but you might consider it as a last option if nothing else works, and you don't care about possibly losing the record. I can't think of any reason the chemical would react negatively with the glue. This guy gives some great tips on using it... http://120studio.com/vinylcleaning.htm
  2. At first, I was like "what the hell is he talking about?" Then I figured it out, and I was like...
  3. Yeah, I don't know what I am thinking by waiting, it can only get more expensive. I'll order it now.
  4. You just made the most basic troll mistake. Admitting you are a troll is amateur league. Give someone enough rope, they hang themselves.
  5. Good. You have made the point you wanted to make about Taylor Swift. Now you can move on to threads that actually interest you, instead of baiting for an argument in this one. Change of subject. Has anyone else preordered the vinyl copy of 1989 from Amazon? I was thinking about buying a copy for a friend of my wife closer to Christmas, but I don't want the price to go up after the release. Guardians of the Galaxy on vinyl went from $17 to $23 not long after release.
  6. Your profile claims that you are 35, so why do you have to speak to someone like this? You are old enough to know better. At the very least act like a man, and treat others with respect, even if you don't like their opinion. To the rest of the keyboard bada$$es in this thread, follow the above advice or move on. You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake because you berate others, and degrade their choices.
  7. Hajime Namiki James Jean I pulled five signed and numbered comic art prints out of my stash while photographing that I will be selling. They are by Stan Sakai (Usagi Yojimbo), Frank Cho (Sheena), Andrew Robinson (Ghost Rider, X-men), and Simone Bianchi (X-Men). PM me if interested.
  8. Here is the U.S. version if anyone was interested. The dark red marbling matches the color of the "Boy" in the logo, while the overall color matches the mix of oranges in the rest of the cover. It's a pretty cool package, and I think it's much better than if they had succeeded in making it solid red.
  9. I got my Oldboy from Milan records today. Does anyone else think it looks orange instead of red? It's a great color, and the marbling was a pleasant surprise, but now I want to see if the UK version is red.
  10. I used to have a collection of 200+ pieces of original comic art, prints, lithographs and giclees. I sold it all except two pieces of original art and a dozen or so prints. I still have some early James Jean prints. This is a cool thread, but I don't miss buying them. I am buying a house in the spring, and I plan to have some or all my pieces framed. I also have a few fine art pieces from the master Japanese print maker Hajime Namiki. If you like trees, and perfectly executed prints made with metallic inks, check his stuff out.
  11. Late to the party. Just finished my first run through of the whole album. It's catchy in an almost annoying way. I will say, being the sad old bastard that I am, I really love a lot of the 80's throwback vibe of the music of the last couple of years.
  12. I just "vinyl bombed" Darren Aronofsky's facebook page. I am such a fanboy. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Darren-Aronofsky/381081161957991?fref=nf
  13. I ordered six albums, including one double, and they came crammed inside a single mailer. Of the six albums I kept two which were perfect, and returned four. Three of the four returns had major pressing defects and one had a corner crease on the jacket. Normally that wouldn't have bothered me but since I was already returning some I figured what the heck. I had to call their customer service to get a paid return label. They are nice over the phone, and the rep I talked to promised that once they received my return, their computer system would flag my order and initiate replacements. The next day I received an email with the shipping label and a note that said they would refund my money and then recharge the order. Yikes! That sounds like some fubar waiting to happen. So I am just waiting to see if they get the four records back to me without a price mixup and if the replacements are in better shape. Two of the records were Asthmatic Kitty label releases and they were the worst pressing errors I have ever seen. Fingers crossed.
  14. Today marks six months of growing out my beard. It's longer than my photo shows, but it's deeply curled so stays pretty compact. I haven't had a haircut for three months, so I am letting myself go completely. And this is a special peek into my brain...
  15. I buy broken records all the time, just to give them a home. They were once part is someone else's life, privy to their hopes and dreams, playing while they conceived their children. It's beautiful really. My latest purchase was a shattered copy of this rarity... I try not to pay more than $5 for them. I'm not an idiot.

  18. Did any of you watch Saturday Night Live last night? This was the funniest part of the whole show. http://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/swiftamine/2823756
  19. I swear I searched for one and didn't find it. But just now it appears as the very last result on the very last page of a search for Bandcamp. So delete this thread I guess.
  20. Yeah, I know, that's a really dated American Pie reference. Having discovered Bandcamp.com and all the vinyl available for sale there, I wanted to start a thread showcasing some of the better music people might come across. I didn't want to start a new thread for each release as some of these are older releases, not preorders. I set up some rules for myself on buying records there, to keep from spending too much. The album has to be offered on vinyl (duh) and has to have at least a moderate amount of design work put into the labels, jacket etc. And the music has to have high production values. There are some really terrible records (my opinion) with some great artwork on that site. Feel free to post old or new releases from Bandcamp in this thread that you think people should know about. With all that said, this is what I bought this week at Bandcamp. https://meadowlarkofficial.bandcamp.com/album/three-six-five-ep I could make up a few reasons I was sold on this release, but the truth is I am just a sucker for delicate female vocals. I thought it was cool that they took photos during year long production of the album, and then include one with each purchase. Music Genre: Pop (I guess) For fans of: Marketa Irglova, or any other female vocalist really. I will post a couple more later, but I didn't want to dump them all in one post. Now it's your turn.
  21. Well, maybe it's just me, but about nine of every ten albums I order from Amazon have a damaged jacket. I either have the worst luck in history, or they have damaged stock. Or maybe their packing people roughly handle stuff.
  22. I finally gave in, though I didn't spend all that much, averaging about $13 per album with shipping... La Roux - Trouble in Paradise Lily and Madeleine - Fumes Lily and Madeleine - S/T Luluc - Passerby Sam Cooke - Portrait of a Legend Strand of Oaks - Heal With shipping - $77.83
  23. My family used to own a Husky/Malamute kennel, so let me say congrats for adopting an awesome dog. My name is John, and I couldn't help but post in here once the pet photos started. Because pets. My boxer boys Sirius (white) and Archer.
