Album is absolutely Phenomenal. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. It's such a different yet familiar sound reminiscent of Vertikal and SATH

Haha hope you dug it.  I wasn’t too much into them before this album, but this one slays.

In other news, The Shaking Sensations quietly dropped another solid new track a few weeks ago. Probably my most anticipated instrumental release late in the year. Proof that meat-and-potatoes post-rock can still be done well.

Also, for any post-metal fans in here the new Cranial album seems like it’s gonna be huge. First track is so dense, so riff-heavy. I love it. http://thesludgelord.bandcamp.com/album/alternate-endings

    Arise, therefore.

Los Angeles and Oakland CA based instrumental group Glaciers, have a new three song EP, "Buried Inside" that will be released soon on digital and vinyl formats. 3 songs, about 25 minutes in length (and girth).

"Buried Inside" is a logical extension of "Mirrored Through the Ancients" but expands more on the heavy parts, and spaced out quieter passages. I would file this record somewhere in between Sleep, Grails and Can.

You can hear the first song, "Ascender" below.

Follow us on instagram and facebook , as we will be debuting another new song, a video or two, as well as the vinyl preorder.

Thanks for listening. It's much appreciated.

Hmm, damn...I thought they found the absolute perfect mixture of ambience & riffs on Guidance!
Nevertheless, I'm such a fanboy....this will probably become my AOTY anyways!

I think I posted this before, but good to see SH is posting Station TP as REJECTED. Re: new listeners to RC, after Enter, Station languished on the shelves FOREVER because the masses wanted Enter part II... and Station wasn't that. Even Geneva couldn't cure the doldrums, but Empros seemed to bring in a bunch of new listeners, and finally a new opener (309 instead of Carpe), then Station sold out and prices skyrocketed.
OK, that tangent aside, I saved this email as a perennial favorite, when my Station copy arrived as rejected. That time it was 'make an offer' not set prices, so instead of sending it back, Dan refunded me 50% LOLOLOL on the bold and underlined portions. Enjoy!

Tue, Sep 13, 2016, 1:19 PM       Hey Donald,   Glad you got the test pressings! So, basically the way test pressings work are that the band members, producer(s), label, and maybe a few select others get a copy so that they can give the thumbs up or thumbs down to before the record goes out for mass production. I don't have an exact count on any of these, as I don't know what the bands and producers received, but I do have a count of what was in Sargent House's inventory.  -Empros - 12 -Station - 5 round 1 "rejected"  -Enter - 5   As far as Station is concerned, if you received the "rejected" test pressing, you received an extra treat! For whatever reason, the band decided that wasn't the version they were going to press. It could be for a master transfer issue, clarity of the vinyl, the test pressing just sounding different than what they had envisioned, an anomaly in the pressing process, etc. So, your test pressing is unique and slightly different than the released record.    Thanks, Donald!    Best, Dan

Unpopular opinion: I like the mix. To me the vocals are part of the band and not necessarily the focal point. And I think it works.

Also, this album is a banger.

If studio Mladic doesn’t wallop your junk inside out you just need to turn it up a bit louder.

If you like what you heard, you really gotta’ power on through those other 5 albums before this new one gets released.  May as well keep it sequential since you’ve started with Enter.  Easily one of the most consistent bands that still retains my interest after a decade+.

    LATITUDES - Part Island

This was just posted today. Their album Old Sunlight was my favorite release of 2016. This looks to be pretty great too. Very cool limited edition slipcase version too.

New year means new tunes.  What are you guys looking forward to for 2019?

New End of the Ocean in < 2 weeks.
Caspian confirmed to start recording a new record in the next few months.  Also wondering if they’re going to stick to their plans to do a 10-year anniversary / re-recording of Tertia.  Potentially a very busy year for them.

Russian Circles confirmed they’ll be back in the studio to record in the coming months.  LP7 and they haven’t missed a beat in my books.

New Pelican is something I’m cautiously optimistic about.  I enjoyed the new tracks they’ve been playing live.

The upcoming Mono release leaked and it’s a lot better than I thought it’d be.  Great start to the year for those guys.  I didn’t hate their last couple of releases or anything, but that new album is way more solid.

Maserati should be done recording their latest album.  I have to admit that even with the weird vocoder stuff they’ve been doing on their last few albums, I come back to them quite a bit and enjoy what I hear.  Instant order from TRL when they decide to drop it.

And I’m also pretty interested in the new Lost in the Riots album, to scratch that riffy ASIWYFA itch.

Hopefully I didn’t forget anything.  Solid year for post-rock and post-metal, potentially.

Make sure to check out Marriages as well if you already haven't. It's herself and Greg Burns (Red Sparowes), with a couple of rotating drummers.
