Tried that new Grivo out before the praise in this thread kicked in, and couldn’t wait for it to be over.  I’m really not seeing the appeal, which also seems to add up with my consistently, nearly inverted tastes to mrewest.  You can almost set a watch by it.

I'll jump into the fray and say that those Tennis System albums did not move me at all.  I don't get it.  It's too... weird for me.  I want my shoegaze to be relatively straightforward.

That Grivo album is sick though, I loved it.  Did not expect that at all.  It's basically more of the Outlander style.

Which, speaking of that Outlander style, here's one that you guys may like with much more vocal emphasis:

Little Belgium post-rock goodness. Leaning in direction of Vasudeva or a bunch of other bands which I can't remember right now off the top of the dome. Twinkly, good vibes, some huge moments in there, but finding this one sticks with me.

i'd been enjoying their older albums once i heard the announcement of the new one.  Forgot all about it, so thanks for the reminder haha

I'll probably come around eventually.  It's not that I dislike them.  I guess nothing is just really jumping out at me.  Could be a product of a lot of people hyping them up.

Mondaze was the band that got me into the "newgaze" trend now, actually.  It seems to be 100% by-the-book, but i enjoy it.

Here's another one that seems to be slipping by everyone (unless you all did it when it came out haha).  My girlfriend loves this band, and I agree - they're great.  New stuff is a radical departure in sound though, and not to my taste whatsoever.

I'll be at both Mogwai and Slow Crush in Boston/Cambridge. I'm surprised that Mogwai show hasn't sold out yet, but then again we're still in a pandemic. I'm kinda bummed Slow Crush is playing at Sonia, which is owned by the Middle East. The owners of that establishment are sketch.

Debating going to one of the Mono dates. I've seen them more times than I can count. I should probably  go

word we'll have to link up and say hey!

Trying to decide where to stay after Mogwai; we're crashing with friends in NH after Mono, and then driving down friday, but it's 90 mins, and not sure if that's the most practical decision to go back up there and stay and then come back again for Slow Crush saturday lol.

Damn that’s a great run of shows, I’m sure your ears will be ringing for a good while after that.

that's why we have ear protection ;)

But even with them, when we first saw Mono and they broke into the wah pedal + overdrive boost peaks of Com? and such, the treble was still SO ridiculous.  So ridiculous.  I can't imagine anybody who didn't have protection getting out of there without damage.

Jealous of this lineup.  More-so about the Mono-Mogwai back to back, but still.  That should be a blast.

yeah it's gonna be a haul haha.  Mono is playing this *TINY* awesome place in Portsmouth, NH called the 3S Artspace.  It'll be like having them in my house.  And then Mogwai at the Paradise which will be awesome, and Slow Crush at some other place in Boston.  Can't wait.

After listening to the album 5-6 times now I can say I have two tracks that really stick out for me, and that's the two longest ones: An Offering To The Wild and Blood Upon Stone. Truly amazing.

Also the ballad Into The Night has grown since i heard it the first time.

As always; this CoL album is a grower, and I will discover new things for many years to come. Of course it's already a top contender for album of the year.

    wait it's out already?!

This new song sounds much more In Silence then their last which is awesome.  I was incredibly disappointed in Oscillation.  Sounded like such a regression in their sound.  This new song is already better than anything off that.

Yeah, I really like "In Silence" and "Resistance" but i enjoy Oscillation.  It's kind of the new MO of post-rock bands to go a little bit more keyboard/synth heavy and dancey like the new PG.Lost, Barrens, etc.  I enjoy it but I prefer the old sound.

  10. loving the new Mondaze album and the vinyl variants are finally up on their Instagram!

I have a few extra copies of the "cornetto" variant coming, $32ppd to anybody who wants one!  It is the most limited (/150) and coming from Through Love records in Germany.

Check it out here!  (cornetto is the 4th picture)
