  1. Missed that part. I must've ignored that text when I saw the words TIE BREAKER and went full-on berserk with the anticipation.
  2. I'm pretty so-so on Iron & Wine, but I have no shame in confessing my love for Bon Iver's For Emma and Sufjan's Illinois. I'm really curious to know what Fleet Foxes record is in the works, too. Highly doubt I'll pay their full prices for a colored version of an album I already own, but it'd make for a fun variant to track down for cheap.
  3. Playing devil's advocate here -- if you've never even heard You Fail Me, how can you assume it isn't just as bad (or worse) than YFW? Just something to consider. My vote is going to remain neutral in this round. Unless it comes down to the wire, and it would nudge us into a double tie-breaker. I'd be all over that.
  4. Updated the list; we're 8 for 10 on this drawing. Really good odds for everyone, so far. I hope to at least see two more entries before it comes time to select a winner. C'monnnn.
  5. I've unsubscribed from their newsletter for ages now, but holy shitlol at Fleet Foxes. Perfect. Nirvana and Wu-Tang clan are definite stretches from the pattern they've been following, and certainly not artists I would've guessed.
  6. Nope, not sold. Yet. And I wasn't accusing anyone of calling me a liar by any means. I just wanted to make sure that no one thought I was trying to pass off a black copy /100 - with the standard jacket - as a test press... which is a whole different animal. Silkscreen and all.
  7. Anyone want to take bets on who the next artist will be? Bon Iver, Sufjan, Iron & Wine... I feel like the trend is a pretty predictable one, as Alex pointed out. I'm going with Fleet Foxes.
  8. Yeah, I was actually contacted by another VC member who had no problem selling his test press for $125 here on the boards. That's going to be close to what I'm shooting for.
  9. Seems to be the common trend -- the Bon Iver and Sufjan albums they just repressed were / are still in print. All about that cash grab at this point.
  10. That's cool. $70, just like Deathwish. But instead of donating to a respectable cause, you can donate to that dude's pockets. Isn't that clown a member here on the boards, too? [edit] He's also conveniently listed some other variants for you; $35 for the white and $20 for a pink, in case you missed out. Only $8.00 shipping, too. Haha. People.
  11. You're definitely not the only one who complicates the spelling of my name... but thinking about it, it seems to only happen in person / physical writing. Very seldom online, but it's all good. I'm glad I revised my vote for Y; even if I have a personal preference for one of the tie-breaker albums, I think it'll be much more interesting to see how everyone else determines the winner.
  12. ITT: "trying to flip a record is okay if you don't make a significant profit".
  13. We have the same exact variants of Oceanic and Panopticon. Weird.
  14. Interesting. Do you know what you listed it under? I noticed there's no entry for the test press. I thought that maybe the $150 white copy was actually your listing in disguise, but I checked the history and comments and it was legitimately an obi-strip version. Which still boggles my mind. I may throw it up on Discogs if there's no real bites... ~$150 would make me very happy. Yeah, this album was my jam in high-school. The Question was, as well. I don't listen to much Emery these days, but I still think those albums are very well done for their time. I'm Only A Man is where this group really started to wobble for me. There was some super catchy segments in that record... but listening to it today makes me cringe a bit. I will say that they completely rebounded with Shallow Seas, though. I can still throw that on and enjoy it. I'd probably buy a copy of that one, despite sort of "done" with Emery's sound at this stage in my music ventures. But that last album they released... man, that was awful. Really, truly made me doubt the future of this band. I sort of wish it didn't exist. Long story short; this band is all over the place.
  15. I do enjoy some Old Wounds, for sure... but their 2011 album that followed it (In and Out of Youth and Lightness) really puts them in a whole new league for me. Can't recommend it enough.
  16. I've actually been meaning to check out Cut/Copy for a while now. Would you recommend starting with Zonoscope?
  17. I've always wondered what a JD test press would fetch. I've never heard or seen one surface, and can only imagine that they'd sell one for a charitable cause, or if the label found itself in a financial pinch.
  18. Actually, those numbers are a bit lower than I was initially expecting. I hadn't Popsike'd it, yet, but had full intentions to. I'm going to be considering those two auctions as price-points for future negotiations. That white /50 for $150 must have been a total fluke on Discogs.
  19. Just to be clear, I am in no way trying to pull a fast one on anyone. I could've sworn that the test press was housed in a standard jacket, but I could be mistaken, and I'd easily take Dreamover's word over my own. This is the copy I have on my (limited) shelf space for play; the test is in a separate crate with excess variants. I will dig it out and take detailed photographs tomorrow. Apologies for the confusion. If all 15 copies are housed in that silkscreen jacket - which does look familiar - I can assure you that mine is as well. [edit] Yup, I'm a dunce. The one I photographed was my single remaining copy on green and black. Goes to show how long it's been since I've even handled this test press. My other two tests were given standard jackets to be housed in, hence the confusion. Thank you for catching that, Dreamover.
  20. Shame on the bad timing, guys. If anyone absolutely wants it but is afraid they won't have the money immediately, I can put it on hold for them if need be. As long as you're committed to a buy and good for the money, I have no problem setting it off to the side for you.
