  1. Ha, tell me about it. Nothing against lifebystereo, either, but I'm flabbergasted that he's already locked in a copy at Import CDs... despite ordering 12 hours after me. But that's life. I'm actually just relying on Relapse, at the moment. Crossing my fingers I don't see a cancellation e-mail whenever my mail client notifies me of a new message.
  2. Wow. Only 10? I can assure you that I wasn't one of the first 10 to order. But perhaps it's less of a "first come, first serve" method of order-fulfillment... and more of a "let's draw random orders out of a hat" deal. À la CD Imports? Who knows. I'd really just like to land one copy for < $40.
  3. Haha, nope. I'm trying to be optimistic, but that kind of figures. The one and only other order I placed through Import CDs was for the RSD Touché Amoré release. Never received a receipt or e-mail confirmation, and never received the record: just got an e-mail a month later explaining that the item was out of stock. Thoroughly unimpressed - or perhaps just very unlucky - with said site.
  4. Beautiful photos, Trontank. I'm dying to score one of those. I had been eying that Import CD link a few days before this thread was posted, and copies were made available through Relapse. There were two in stock. As soon as I caught news that orders were being canceled, and that the LP was out of stock at Relapse, I returned to Import CD and pulled the trigger. At the time, it said there was only one copy available. ...And it continued to say that for at least 24 hours. Long story short: I don't even know if I purchased the last copy, you know? Those of you who tried to snag the remaining Kvelertak through Import -- feel free to bump this topic if you receive a cancellation e-mail. I'm 99% one of my orders won't go through, but I've gotten lucky in situations like these in the past. So far, so good over here. And I'm giving lifebystereo the initial opportunity to purchase my second copy, since he was first to reply. Seems fair.
  5. I received my "Your Relapse Order" e-mail at 06:44 PM, on the 25th, as soon as I paid. // Thank you for ordering from Relapse Records. We'll begin to process your order right away. Print this file or save it on your computer. You will receive another e-mail when your order ships. ORDER TRACKING INFORMATION: https://www.relapse.com/user/my_account.aspx NOTE: Our order system updates on a regular basis, however you may not be able to track it immediately. SERVICE/SUPPORT: http://www.relapse.com/support/ ORDER SUMMARY Order Number: 629180 Date/Time: 6/25/2011 / 9:44 PM // And I still haven't received a cancellation e-mail. Since I assumed - and am still assuming - that such an e-mail is right around the corner, I jumped on one of the last copies over at CD Imports ($31.99). I figured that this may be my only chance to own it... especially if it's not getting repressed this year. Long story short: there's a slight chance I may end up with two copies. Would anyone here be interested in buying a second copy off of me for $34*? ... assuming I receive both, that is. * $30.00 PPD @ Relapse. $39.78 PPD @ CD Imports (tax and steeper shipping). ========================= $69.78 / 2 = $34.89 » $34.00. I can't accurately make any promises, but feel free to let me know if any of you'd be willing.
  6. Damn. I placed mine on... Saturday morning [06/25], but I haven't received a cancellation e-mail quite. Not looking forward to it. The wait continues.
  7. Thanks, everyone. Those Itso cubes sound absolutely perfect for the time being -- I'm kind of just looking to keep my records off the floor and leaning against random furniture. The fact they can be used for moving later on is especially awesome. How sturdy are they? Being fabric, do they allow the records to lean quite a bit? I'm only skeptical because the price on them is so cheap... and you obviously get what you pay for. Still going to pursue a 2 x 4 Expedit. Like geezfools mentioned, I'm also concerned about their lack of a back. But I have some crafty friends and family members - it seems like an easy-enough workaround, if I can get a hold of the proper materials. That just leaves the sleeves, now. Jared; do you use these, specifically? "Crystal Clear Mylar Outer Sleeves that will comfortably fit single and double gatefold LPs!" - it makes it sound as if x2 LPs will slide in without a hassle. I know they're pricey, but they sound pretty amazing. Especially if they can be used on single LPs or gatefolds.
  8. All this Expedit talk has got me lusting for one pretty bad. Money isn't the biggest concern, in that department: I'm sure I could put some cash off to the side like you recommended, cactusbot. I'm more-so concerned about the spatial issues. I'd have to do some serious rearranging to get them to work -- everything kind of just "fits" perfectly as is. How do records sit inside the Expedit? Is it an absolutely perfect fit? Does anyone know - roughly - how many records can be stored per cube? And does anyone have the 2 x 4 model? I'm a little iffy about the support. Is it possible to turn it on its side for additional stability? Checked Craigslist with no real luck. The closest Ikea is about an hour and half away. I'll probably make the trip sometime down the road, when I have some funds to play with. And for what it's worth, I don't plan on being at this place for too terribly long. Maybe another year or two, max? That's why the "crate" approach seems so much more appealing. No idea how you'd transfer a couple of hundred LPs, but if I can find something that's a little more... portable, that'd be ideal. As far as sleeves go; I think I've purchased [quite] a few of those before, Jared. I love them... assuming we're talking about the same ones. The seam does protrude quite a bit, but I like your idea of folding the lip over the spine for extra visibility. My only gripe with those are their inability to handle x2 LPs... or even gatefolds, for that matter. They're just a hair too tight, and I've actually split one or two of them trying to make it work. (At which point it'd become a pain in the ass to even remove the record. And thus not worth it at all.) @ chiefwahoo: I'll definitely check out those SLPS3 sleeves. They sound promising.
  9. Another one of these threads. I'm not in a financial or residential position to purchase an Expedit - or anything overly elaborate, for that matter - but I keep... accumulating records. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. At this point I'm just looking for something sturdy to hold said records. A simple box on the floor would suffice. These caught my eye: essentially glorified milkcrates, more or less designed with record storage in mind. I'd probably line the bottom with cardboard and foam to prevent bent corners. Either way, that's essentially what I'm looking for: something small, eventually portable, and inexpensive. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I'm also eying a few storage boxes over at Bags Unlimited, but I have no experience with them. Has anyone used these? Which is the best to go for? And finally: sleeves. I've purchased my fair share of sleeves in the past... a few different styles and types. I'm getting pretty low, and I've decided that I'd like to buy one specific type to use on all of my records. Currently, some of mine have resealable flaps, while others don't. Some are 4 mil plastic, and - while gorgeous - have a stiff edge that raises them above the rest of the record (just a hair), or sports an atrociously visible line down the spine. I'm probably suffering from a bit of pseudo OCD at the moment, but I'd love to see all my record spines flush, and with identical sleeves. I know I'm not alone here. So of the selection at Bags Unlimited and Sleeve City, what do you guys recommend? I'm essentially looking for a sleeve that - most importantly - holds up and protects the record. Something that fits single and double LPs... and holds its clarity over time. Something that doesn't look too cloudy when slipped over the cover, and isn't too thick or stiff. Being able to clearly see the spine would also be a plus. Deathwish sleeves are pretty awesome, and fill most of this criteria. They can sometimes be on the thin side, I feel, but I suppose that's a tradeoff for having them "flexible" and not stiff, with overly protruding seams. Are there any record sleeves that you swear by, and buy in bulk? I'd love to check them out. Cheers.
  10. So, regrettably, by the time that I had made up my mind and could purchase this... it became listed as "Out Of Stock". The link to purchase still worked, however, so I tried to place an order. And as far as I can tell, it went through. Worst case scenario, I figure they cancel the order due to insufficient quantities and refund my money. Couldn't hurt to try, you know? Has anyone successfully placed an order at Relapse, despite the on-hand being listed as out of stock? Just curiosity on my end.
  11. +1 to Monster, definitely. I was hoping that someone would bump the old topic or post a new one, whenever Kvelertak was made public to the U.S. Kudos to keeping everyone in the loop. I've heard that this thing is a real beauty, though. The art of the gatefold, to how sturdy it is, and so on. The music obviously kicks ass, too... and if they are indeed 180 gram... I feel like the $30 price-tag is pretty justifiable. Hell. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
  12. I've caved on more releases in the past week than I have in the past two months. Someone talk me out of this. Or into it. Either one.
  13. One more obligatory "congratulations" post. I'm also intrigued why she changed her mind, seemingly out of the blue... but it's not entirely relevant. I bid happiness and best wishes to the both of you.
  14. I've heard a lot about this band. Are they any good?
  15. That's tough to say. It was on Back Order just yesterday - but apparently replenished this morning - so I doubt copies are overly scarce. If they do sell out and remain sold out, you can always pay the extra $10 - $14 and grab it from Bleep. Worst case scenario.
  16. No problem. But credit goes to AlexH. for bringing the sweet deal to my attention.
  17. I almost purchased it from Bleep.com (for $$29 + shipping), since it was sold out at Insound yesterday. But I decided to check one more time, and now they're available. $18.99. Go.
  18. Would be so much crazier if either the seller or buyer were serious.
  19. I actually thought the same thing. One dilemma that I'd love to be in, for sure.
  20. PM'd. Just to clarify to the rest of VC that I'm not a dick.
  21. Dude. I hadn't seen that link (and consequently feel pretty dumb), but I had enough time to cancel my order through Amazon, and grab a colored copy... just to play it safe. The prices will probably be identical when it's all said and done. +1 for the heads up. It's actually just a template in Photoshop, coupled with an Action that shrinks / sharpens / applies effects to the album art. It's working quite well for me.
  22. I looked around quite a bit - comparing prices - and was under the impression that it's only on black? I just ordered it yesterday, so it hasn't actually arrived yet. Sorry for the false alarm. But now I'm kind of stoked that it may be colored!
  23. Within the last week... // updated //
  24. Fair enough. May I ask why you don't just snag both to be safe?
  25. There's not an official number, but people are guessing around 500 or so. I'm sure your order is safe; just check up on the tracking every few days. And remember that patience is a virtue. Or something.
