  1. how come people keep saying this? Not bashing at all, just curious. I love my Motion City Soundtrack- Commit This to Memory on white. No streaks (though I enjoy streaks too) just crisp white. Looks good with the artwork. Off white looks even better. My Everyone Everywhere LP is off white with a small blue streak. BEAUTIFUL. And a great album! Great question. I don't mind white with a swirl or marble... but just the plain, stoic white stands out as a terrible choice in my mind. Something about it is just super unattractive. Exceptions being when it just "works" with the album art, or compliments the labels nicely. [see; Deftones' Diamond Eyes.] I just have W&T synonymously linked to the image of a black record, as I'm sure a lot of people do. The limited (/2000) aspect of the HT press is cool, but I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of availability for something that just looks right. At least in my mind, thus far.
  2. Absolutely this. Also not really a fan of white vinyl in general, in most instances.
  3. So it's confirmed. SRC will carry the 1,000 black copies that exclusively feature Convectuoso. Go go go!
  4. So out of curiosity, and going with that logic... what's to separate SRC's 1,000 black copies from the thousands of others, at various retailers? Genuine question. Not trying to sound facetious by any means.
  5. PM me with details. I will take one for the team and share your burden.
  6. Been on the fence about shelling out cash for a first press, for a while now. This definitely works out better. Consider me jazzed.
  7. Symbolizes the brother being hit by the oncoming train. Completely intentional.
  8. Obviously opinions are opinions, and I can respect yours. But I just need to make sure we're on the same page; you are referring to All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone, are you not?
  9. Actually really digging what I've heard thus far. (Violet). All over this.
  10. Hah, nice analogy. In my opinion, I'd say it's definitely the band's Morning View. They traded quite a bit of originality for accessibility, I feel. What I love about Kezia and Fortress is that each and every song on those albums - more or less - has an utterly brilliant moment (or three). A completely unexpected bridge, a particularly sweet riff, a surprisingly awesome bass or drum segment, and so on. Moments that knocked me on my ass on the first listen, and continued to get better and better over time. And where the first two albums were riddled with them, I feel like I can count the number of standout instances with one hand, on Scurrilous. Had this been their debut album, it would have been fine. It's a fun listen, but I feel like it's watered down when compared to everything else Protest has done. I try very hard to look at an artist's new release for what it is... and not compare it to past material. But when a band has only released top-notch albums, their first so-so attempt is going to stand out like a sore thumb. And that's exactly what this album suffers from, in my opinion. That, and... some atrociously bad lyrics. Maybe it'll grow on me. I'd probably give it a C+ so far.
  11. In my opinion, the new album is pretty decent. There's no screaming or real "heavy" moments, but the instrumental work is still top notch. Lyrics are significantly weaker; no conceptual story to tie them altogether... and I believe Rody wrote most of them, this time around. After only three or four plays, I'll say it's probably the weakest of PTH's albums. Which is still quite enjoyable, personally speaking. I plan on buying the vinyl, but it falls short to Fortress and Kezia. At least thus far.
  12. Such a relief. Rarity and exclusiveness be damned: this is an album that should be readily available to anyone who wants to pick it up.
  13. I wonder how many views this thread will get in the next 24 hours.
  14. Yeah, that white variant is going to fetch the big bucks. Way more than the 2,000 greens.
  15. Just received my clear copy a few hours ago. It definitely has a very faint - but undeniable - pink tint. It's almost like a super-desaturated translucent pink. I quite like it. Was also impressed (though not surprised) at how well the packaging turned out. A+ release.
  16. This, this, and this. Honestly don't feel like $40 was too steep. I figured they'd play the whole "exclusive" thing a bit more, and charge $60 or so. Other than the initial bumps trying to get the page to load, I have no real complaints.
  17. Those who pulled some black magic and were able to order without a hitch; which browser did you use?
  18. I guess that's to be expected, after promoting a release before-and-throughout the weekend. Thanks, Twitter.
  19. The last time I dealt with Merchnow, it was with the Circa represses. I forgot how much of a scramble-fuck this can be.
  20. One just fetched $400 or so, the other week. Which is strangely on par (and sometimes less) than the silkscreen edition. Nice job scoring $500+ on this one, Scotty. I'm surprised that the highest bid was locked in way before the auction ended. Assuming you actually received the cash, too, I believe it's the highest I've seen any (legitimate) JD print go for.
  21. This is the worst news I've ever gotten. Unless of course Sony is planning on reissuing it...but that's doubtful. Word. Thanks(?) for the info, Scott. Terrible news. I do believe that I prefer IKS over SSTB, and was tightly crossing my fingers for a 2011 EVR repress. Oh well.
  22. Appreciation bump. This arrived super quick, and Tim was even kind enough to throw in a free 7". His generosity has me flabbergasted. I know not what to say, other than thank you. Sincerely. This made my week.
