  3. I know about The Modern Age, but what's the Rough Trade? Rough Trade is their record label in the UK. the original UK Rough Trade 7" has an orange and yellow swirl label. the US version on XL Recordings/Beggars Banquet has a red and white swirl label. the Rough Trade version is the rarest of the two. i think it was limited to 1000 copies.
  4. man, i totally dropped the ball on this one. i found a copy of this at the shop for $20 but didn't buy it. i was gonna go back and get it the next day but they had sold their only copy.

  6. Pretty sure this completes my Strokes collection now. you have the Rough Trade 7" for The Modern Age with the orange and yellow label?
  7. all you need to do is watch this video... watch how Townsend chucks his guitar (at the 2:12 mark) and look at the expression on his face. you know he hit someone with it. thats rock and roll right there. and of course, there's Moonie's drumming. he's not even trying and he sounds fucking amazing.
  8. it's a double A-side of So Here We Are and The Marshals are Dead

  10. i should have asked this too -- if you got the 7", where did you order it from? and if you didn't get the 7", where did you order it from?
  11. so which of you guys got the bonus 7" single with your copies?
  12. i probably shouldn't even post in this thread because i'm gonna totally date myself but... first records I ever bought with my own money were Culture Club - I'll Tumble 4 Ya - 12" Single Duran Duran - Is There Something I Should Know? - 12" Single it was '83. I was nine years old. I used birthday money to buy them.
  13. i have a MOTU 828 Firewire interface which i use for recording my band. but i also use it to transfer vinyl to my computer. just plug in the L/R auxs into 2 channels (using a aux to 1/4" adapter). then run the MOTU unit into Garageband. all my transfers sound really good. i don't need to re-eq anything.
  14. seconded. especially since it was remixed/remastered from the UK version.
  15. i do this all the time. if there is something i like that is out of print and that i think warrants a listen (either CD or vinyl), i throw it up on my blog. most of it happens to be out of print vinyl and/of stuff that isn't readily available on CD. i don't feel any guilt doing it. just want to spread some good hard to find music.
  16. Not sure if this has been done before... This may (or may not) only apply to people who have been collecting records for a while and have amassed a significant collection. Have you rediscovered a record that you had forgotten that you had owned? I was looking through my records and discovered two Metallica box sets that I had totally forgotten I had. I've long since stopped being a Metallica fan but I still think these are cool. The recent "classic albums" box set with double LP versions of Kill Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice For All (aka the only albums that matter) as well as the Garage Days Re-Revisited and Creeping Death ep's. All on 180g vinyl. This was a limited edition box set /5000 from 2004. However, this is a promo version that wasn't numbered and each LP is stamped as a promo. This other box set is a UK import from 1990. It has all their singles/ep's up to that point as well as a poster. Bought this back in 1995 for $30. So what cool/interesting records have you forgotten that you owned?
  17. Bullet for My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire -- Red Vinyl 7" Bullet for My Valentine - Scream Aim Fire -- White Vinyl 7"
  18. Jimmy Eat World - Static Prevails (with bonus 7") $1 Jimmy Eat World - Clarity (Blue Vinyl) $5
  19. all the current pressings are on Time Bomb but there were different pressings before that -- 13th Floor, Triple X Records, possibly another label as well. there are also sleeve variations. i think one of the 13th Floor pressings (possibly the first) had a gatefold like the Time Bomb but then the Triple X version didn't.
  20. Original as in UK original or US original? I need to look into this release more, I want this album more that anything right now... AFAIK, both
