Feels like the last 2 weeks every pre-order/on sale I've seen has been in the $32 - $42 dollar range (even for single LPs), which then becomes $45-$55 shipped with California taxes and shipping. Definitely said no to a lot of stuff I otherwise would have historically impulse bought. Looks like I'm finally speaking with my wallet on this. They're going to end up crashing their own market again like they did when cds started to be $25+ new.

I totally agree with this, I’ve been buying vinyl for close to 20 years now and I’d give anything to go back to when I thought £20 for an album was too much! The overpriced records of the last few years have honestly priced me out of buying a lot of things I’d usually have gone for and this is one of them. I can’t justify the shipping cost to the uk as I missed out on the eu store so only option is buying form the states, the same as most releases. It just isn’t sustainable any more and it just feels like a lot of collectors now are new to it and don’t see anything wrong with dropping £50 on an album which is just obscured in my eyes, I don’t understand how this is the new normal for vinyl prices and that’s even before shipping!

  2. Anyone looking for this in the uk be patient, banquet records seems like they’ll have it in. On the sing the sorrow album it has this  written under it

The 20th anniversary vinyl reissue of this legendary album from AFI, originally released in 2003 and became an instant-classic in post-hardcore / emo.

The recent posts on social media look tantalisingly like liner notes for an anniversary edition...

As much as I want a 20th anniversary repress of this album (expanded artwork, notes from the band unheard demos and b sides) I just can’t see it happening. I’ve seen so many people post about how they know someone on the inside and “it’s coming just be patient” I just don’t think they’re a band that will ever get a back catalogue repress.

  4. Here’s to hoping that once the box sets start shipping they announce more releases. Already have a gambling problem picture disc but tempted with the repress. Hoping that we get a Finch repress down the line but does anyone know if the bands are getting money from these? I was listening to a podcast with Vinnie from the movielife the other day and he was talking about vinyl and didn’t mention anything about this repress so do the bands even know they’re coming? If not are they getting paid???

Went with the BV version for $50 total. Dine Alone sold out before 10 is BS! The NC version has a signed postcard inserted for another $10. Boloney with that!

Agreed, the signed postcard should really be a free extra that they should throw in, not charge extra for! Maybe don’t advertise it and have it as a little surprise for people to find

  6. So I’ve only just got into thrice! I don’t know how but I never listened to them when I was younger even though all my friends did. Funnily enough it was the new album which drew me in which I absolutely love, it’s one of my favourites from last year. So going back through their discography I was listening to The Alchemy Index last week and saw the repress of it too late but when I checked the UK site they had 16 copies left. It was a no brainier purchased that straight away! I’m so glad I didn’t miss out on this I can feel it’s going to be one of those records that you shouldn’t pass up on.

Orders aren’t shipping till next week so It’s a long wait till I can get my hands on it but it’ll be worth it.

But it's unfair of you to act like people have no self control for buying a black copy and then being a little upset that nicer looking, more collectible versions came out immediately after with no prior announcement. They didn't know there was any other option. It's pretty predatory actually.

I totally agree with this! It was great that dine alone finally re pressed these even if it was black and we all know that they were snapped up by flippers anyway! But don’t get upset about black pressings. If you’re only in it for pretty records then don’t buy the black and complain.

  8. Got my 'Shell' variant in the post yesterday and for anyone who was concerned about it having a lot of surface noise, it doesn't or at least mine doesn't but I gave mine a clean before spinning it and it really does depend on what you're playing it on too. I see a lot of people complaining about surface noise and other things with vinyl and I can honestly say that giving it a clean and investing in a decent player definitely pays off! On another note the album is killer and 100% my album of the year, not sure if anything is going to top this in terms of quality in music and overall packaging. Lenticular cover, glow in the dark vinyl, 2 inserts and a poster with a gatefold jacket! I've bought double LP's in a single jacket with no inserts before (normally a trait of hip hop albums it seems) which is just lazy and unimaginative. anyway hope everyone else is enjoying the album.

I'm a little surprised nobody has mentioned the exclusive pressing of The Grace 10" that got posted along with this pre-order.

Yeah I’m hoping that doesn’t sell out before Tuesday! Been waiting for payday to grab a bunch of the new Single Mothers stuff that went up but I’ll also be getting that too. I have the first press in black but can’t resist that clear/white smoke variant!

  10. My Bronx I and III albums came in the post on monday and finally got a chance to spin them today and III sounds so good, glad they finally pressed this on vinyl. If anyone hasn't seen the difference in colours to the Australian press here they are. if anyone picked up II, is it a gatefold like the first press i didn't pick it up as i already own the first one!
