  1. Red and white match the cover art, but I'm going to have to go with the baby-blue
  2. thanks for posting this. i really enjoyed the 45 they put out
  3. The only bootleg I've seen floating around is the Screeching Weasel RAMONES cover, tour edition. You can find that bootleg almost everywhere. The Lookout Records I bought, were not bootlegs. What I bought shall not be revealed. I felt guilty buying records when there are so many people that need financial help. So I donated more than I'd ever spend on records in a single day to Unicef from my salary and promised that whatever amount I spent on records I will donate again.
  4. Fine, here's the details. Hang a right after existing the west exit from Shinjuku station. Keep walking until you see a store called "The Vinyl pt 2". It's the the store next door to it. The inside of the store is just a long, narrow room. On one side is 60's rock and garage rock. On the other side is punk rock and some 70s rock. There was also a Doo Wop and Soul section, but I didn't recognize any of the artist. I think there might have been a Swedish rock section, but maybe that was another store. Probably the last time I'd see SW Anthem for a New Tomorrow in shrink wrap. Records I bought all mint.
  5. I went to a record store today and they had some BALZAC records for $30. Went to another store 10 min walk away and the same record for $3. bought them for $3 each, good as new. Also ordered a Sludgeworth 7" (Brightside) from Reckless for $5 a month ago. I don't know the value, but surprised to find it so cheap.
  6. but it was right next to bigger punk record store. man, i so wish i continued walking down the street the first time i went to the bigger store and this place earlier.
  7. I happened upon a small record shop tonight run by a nice old woman with a neat punk rock section. But what was strange was that everything seemed to be from the 90s.. and new, sealed in the plastic wrap. It was like walking into a time machine and seeing a bunch of still shrink-wrapped lookout records. Felt like a fool spending so much on ebay and gemm for used records in shitty conditions when new ones were sitting under my nose the whole time.. and they were all cheap! about $12 a pop. same things go for $15-30 used.
  8. I ordered SFLATS. The A side was fine, but "Eat the Meek" was skipping. So I applied AT634 cleaning fluid by audio-technica and everything played just fine.
  9. The record arrived today. It must have had a fun journey for a few weeks.
  10. You know, all I did was ask an innocent question and I'm getting these lame responses attacking tastes and more. It's really putting me off. Which is a shame, cause there are a lot of good small labels who post here and sell their stuff.
  11. I still haven't gotten my record. I just ordered one NOFX. I got a shipping notice over two weeks ago. No customs notice or anything. My guess lost in the mail. Only takes a week to ship from the US to Japan. Unless they shipped by boat.
  12. I prefer them. But I don't get pissy when an insert isn't included. Like dogbert said, I guess it is lame to reissue a record that originally came with an insert without one. And, I said before, I think they're great for lyrics. Look at the vinyl version of Phase 3 by the Riverdales. The only lyrics on it are for Last Stop Tokyo. Is that insert really useful/necessary? And yes, some SW lyrics are hard to figure out. Like I said, I can understand wanting inserts for lyrics and credits, but if it's just pictures and other garbage, why bother? I listened to Last Stop Tokyo maybe 1000s of times. I got really into the song at a time of my life when everything fell apart "and I [had] no home" and the idea of "Last stop Tokyo" really sunk into my heart. I'm not saying that I came here because of this song. But it really was the right song I needed at the right time if my life. Then I read the lyrics and weren't anywhere as awesome as the lyrics I "heard" in the song. Personally, I did find the lyrics useful because I spent years trying to figure them out.
  13. I guess it depends why it's overpriced. A record I was interested in is selling on amazon.jp new for $50. It just says limited edition. So I passed. Personally, the modern record thing reminds of comicbooks in the 90s when overpriced hologram foil covers imploded the industry. Records are about music. On the other hand, I love 180g vinyl and don't mind shelling a little extra for it.
  14. But do you really like everything your bought? Or do you buy them just have a complete FAT collection. I tried having a lookout records collection once. It was pretty good, and today I find great irony and relief that so many great bands pulled out from Lookout. made me realize how pointless that kind of collecting was. But Fat on the other hand does have a distinct sound..
  15. I just did this. thanks. I hope they get back to me. The site said my order hadn't shipped yet. I placed my order on the 3rd or 4th and still haven't received it. did get a shipping notice 2 weeks ago. so who knows..
  16. You have many many problems. Wow, maybe this board isn't the nice place I thought it was. What motivates you to write such words? Judging a stranger because their taste of music doesn't conform to the popular notion of what is good and what is not good? I looked at your "record nerd" collection. Personally, I would never waste a second of my time listening to those albums, but I would never surmise anything about one's character based their unique (or not so) tastes in music. Just kidding, you're right, I have many many many problems
  17. It would appear that way, but come on, anywhere you go the majority of people have a mainstream taste. If Japanese tastes were truly unilateral then I would not be able to get awesome records in Japan, right? I live in Kawasaki. I've found 3 record shops in Shimokitazawa. Are the other 37 near the station? I've walked all around it.. And by the way, most of today's students all Exile. Who I have never listened to. Hickey has awesome tastes. I didn't mention it, but my musical diet for the past 15 years has been Ben Weasel/Danny Vapid projects, Billy Joel, Enya and Motown. 60年代の日本のアイドルも大好 き!
  18. I didn't know that Rhino has rights to Brain Drain. Thanks for the info. Personally I prefer 80s Ramones to 70s Ramones. I love Pleasant Dreams, Too Tough To Die and Animal Boy.
  19. Well thanks for the snide. Yes, I live in Japan, no I am not Japanese. I bought the Billy Joel LP (definitely my best record) new from amazon for $25 with free shipping. If I order a new LP from the states, it will cost me the same including shipping. If I go a record store in Tokyo, I'm going to be paying $12 for train fare to and back from the store and all new records here cost at least $15. And how does one's nationality affect their tastes? Are you racist?
  20. Picked up The Stranger on 180g and am really impressed with it. Does anyone know if his other albums are going to be reissued as well? Also picked up the first 5 Ramones reissues. My favorite album has always been Pleasant Dreams. Are there any plans for Rhino to reissue Pleasant Dreams through Halfway to Sanity on 180g?
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com/NOFX-So-Long-and-Thanks-for-All-the-Shoes-OOP-Pink-300_W0QQitemZ200386790772QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_on_Vinyl?hash=item2ea7fbc574&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 looks like someone's using someone's pictures from this board
  22. Haven't received my order yet. Got shipping confirmation on the 10th.. So maybe any day now..
  23. 11 The Captain (Bonus Track) 12 Break-up (Bonus Track) 13 On The Radio (Bonus Track) Play MP3 clip 14 Wiseguy (Bonus Track) 15 Crack Mommy (Bonus Track) I previewed them from itunes, they're all good. (i downloaded from the US store)
  24. I live in Japan. I got Eggzit off of Itunes. I went to some CD stores and for the first time in my life I'm seeing McRackins in stores like HMV and Tower Records. Congrats. The Japanese version of Eggzit has 4 or 5 extra songs. Are these the songs from the 7" splits?
