  1. I would guess because records are "old" and because they are "old" and "outdated" they must be no good. For the past couple years, many releases have been CD only. There are a number of used record shops, though.
  2. oh yes. had no idea this band gained popularity. went to high school with their guitarist
  3. I wouldn't buy anything that cheap again. Just wait and save until you can purchase something over $300. That's what I'm doing.
  4. I'm thinking of upgrading to one of these. Do you need a slipmat on the platter? I love the ceramic-magnet platter
  5. I really like these colors. I have the yellow version, but clear yellow/gold vinyl always makes me think of pee. I try to think it's beer but thinking of beer always leads me to thinking about peeing. Then I try to think it's gold, but then I see it's just plastic, but then I change my mind because the music within is more valuable then gold, and then the gold makes me think of pee again. So, yeah, these new colors are nice.
  6. VC has amazing customer service, I'll vouch for that. Hopefully this thread will be taken as a constructive criticism and they can improve their business. Not to be rude, but I think this can be done simply by checking off each item on the invoice before sealing the package.
  7. Just be patient with the US post office, sometimes it takes them weeks to ship something out. My first epitaph order took 3 weeks, this past one took 5 days.
  8. I'm just curious. i suddenly don't have a budget can accommodate for more than necessities
  9. Hard to say, but maybe the Supermarket All-Stars 10" I'm not sure if I actually purchased it, but somehow came home with one after a show. I think the very first LP I purchased was the Teen Idols s/t. I really can't remember back then and most of my records from then are missing.
  10. Was thinking of upgrading from an AT to something that won't skip, until suddenly hit with financial troubles. For me, aesthetics are really important. Looking for a white turntable and what I currently have is a plastic beauty. Before financial troubles, was thinking a pro-ject would be affordable, but better to save for a rega. However, the clearaudio's are awesome looking. Anyone have one of these? What's the benefit of spending a fortune on a turntable?
  11. girlfriend's records first, then nonpunk stuff so she can access it all, then punk stuff alphabetically. though I pulled down everything last week and arranged it all by colors of spine to form a rainbow. that was cool, but not very practical
  12. As skipping seems to be a common phenomenon with the epitaph represses, I'm going to guess the problem is with the plant. I have one record that skips bad, too, every few seconds (white trash two heebs on white). I've cleaned the record several times. I think the grooves aren't high enough.
  13. Thank you, very much appreciated. where would i get a belt? mine's just a thick rubberband. I have the belt all the way to the top of the platter, maybe that's not good? Also, about cheap pressings.. I'm listening to a record now, the arm is not wavering and it's seconds away from the center label. sounds great. but too many records sound like shit. so maybe it's not my player? My worst record is the recess version of queers' love songs for the retarded.. hey I just checked the record and the center hole is off. guess my record player isn't fucked up. but half my records suck
  14. Many of my records play like an accordion, with the speed fluctuating, especially as the needs makes it towards the center label. It's cringe-worthy. I have an AT-PL 300 When I watch records spin, it seems clear that the record isn't exactly centered and the arm tends to waver from left to right. I checked the platter and there's no place to adjust it's position, so I believe that the cause of my problem is that the platter isn't level. For months I was cleaning records with a brush by letting the record spin and pressing down with the brush. Could this have damaged the levelness of the platter?
  15. I'm not going to lie, my record player is probably pretty crappy (I don't think there's anything to adjust), and I did make an attempt to "clean" (i.e., "brush") the record, but I don't think that was the issue (the record looks fine). My record player does play the "Suffer" and "No Control" records perfectly fine (as well as the large majority of my record collection), but I can't listen to this record without it skipping every few seconds. My White Trash on white skips every few seconds on both sides. Worst part is I bought it off of ebay. Heavy Petting Zoo also skips but not that bad. SLATFATS skips once, Against the Grain had a few skips. But White Trash is unlistenable. The copy I bought was still sealed, too.
  16. Mine arrived today, it's just like the first one pictured. I need to thank Hickey for this. This was one of my favorite albums back in '97 or so and I haven't heard it in 11 years until today. Remembered most of the words. Thanks, Hickey!
  17. 10 years ago I would check ebay every day for these records, then I got distracted and gave up. A few weeks ago this popped up on ebay, but at around the same time I found it somewhere else. None of these were from ebay.
