  1. Joseph, Is it really necessary to list the names of all these people? How is any of that information relative to solving your problem (which is in your head). How do you know so much about the delivery person? creepy, dude.
  2. coming from someone who pads their karma/smite numbers, I'll take that as a compliment. I just think the lame ass excuses are a joke, when we all know 75% of the people using those excuses are just that, excuses. Of course we all want the fancy ass colors, but some people actually missed out on them and those people should get a shot at them before people who already have it on color can try again. Just throwing out some stupid reason makes you look like a moron and you should be lucky you even get refunds, if it were me, black copies would show up like they used to do it. I'm not pissed, just calling them out since no else will, well, besides one other person So why hide behind a new name? I agree with your point, but there are some records that I own multiple colored copies of as well. (I didn't order these 7 inches, nor am I interested) I'm posting because instead of blaming each other, why not ask record companies to stop this gimmick practice of multiple pressings. By the way, black is a color, too, and often way cooler looking than many colored records. If all records where any other color people would be going nuts over the black editions.
  3. I paid $100 for a record from gemm (please don't ask which) and it was packaged like that. In fact, every single order I've done from gemm/musicstack/ebay comes packaged in crappy packaging. Just make it a rule, tell the seller they must package the record a certain way or no deal.
  4. Yu, thanks for asking this question, I've been wondering the same thing myself. The same MP3 played on 10 different iPods will sound the same. Yeah, but the sound will differ incredible depending on the speakers. I just went through 4 pairs of headphones last month. 2 sounded like complete shit. One just assaulted your brain. But the headphones I ended up with (audio-technica CKS50) sounds almost like a record. I couldn't believe it. MP3s. It was like really hearing my music for the first time.
  5. You sir, are in for a treat. Okay, I've been googling for this Riverdales board, but I cannot find it. Could someone please tell me? I miss the old SW board that the Interpunk guys used to run before they made Interpunk.
  6. Let's talk about something far more important, Phil when are you gonna do: a) a Teen Idols non-album song compilation? Seriously, please get all these old 7"s and random songs tied up into a nice convenient package(ie: an LP), that'd be awesome?! a new Teen Idols album, how that going? This might be off topic, but the Teen Idols self/titled was one of the first LPs I ever bought. It might have been the first I bought at a show. I forgot who they opened for, I think I saw them in 1996/97 at the State Theater in St. Pete, FL. It was awesome despite the State Theater having the practice to make the opening bands sound bad so the headline bands sound the best. I bought their record. I hope it wasn't stolen (after I came to Japan, someone stole most of my records in the US) Getting on topic, I think it looks bad on any individual and their organization when they say something bad about another individual or organization, even if you're right. Since we're throwing around world like Karma, let's remember what they actually mean. I'm a huge Ben Weasel nerd. I think BW's work is the only thing I'm still nerdy about. I've also had the experience of being on the wrong side of Ben's wrath when I was 16 years old and doing a dumb Riverdales website. Time and maturity gave me a different perspective. I'm just happy that the Riverdales are still around and Ben is putting stuff out. I respect BW. I don't think it's good to sling dirt on the internet . I'm going to read this thread.. Anyway, FTW, just stay positive. Having SW/Riverdales on ASM was really good all these years. It brought business to your label from fans like myself. Don't burn your bridges. Let's be adults! (sorry, I have to have this persona at work and it's seeping into.. everything..)
  7. Wait a second, time out! There's a Riverdales board?!? Someone please point me there.. searching for Riverdales records is what brought me to this board..
  8. That happens to me all the time. I have to ask sellers to extra cardboard in the mailers. Sometimes I forget to and that happens.
  9. I just got an email from a seller saying the gemm guy wouldn't pay and he sold the Methadones to me.. Now watch the Tower one come in a few weeks. If anyone needs a copy, I won't need 2..
  10. It's not a guy selling his porn on Amazon, it's amazon.jp's actual porn section. They sell what most of us would consider child porn.. I don't know about Servo, who I think is just trolling out of some kind of competitive feeling he might have because of my location, but I think it's fucked up to make a small child eat ice cream and take a photo of it to look like a blow job and put it on an adult DVD. The second DVD I linked had girls ages 14 wearing g-strings and kissing. I think the back has them eating hot dogs are something. I don't want to see that ever again. It's not the type of the iceberg, but it's not "Japanese culture," either. It's a market in Japan, where $ is the supreme power. Because it's a solid market , it would be tough to take down. It's said to be run by the gangs. The "sometimes I hate Japan" comes from the laws that protect this and the parents and people who make this. I love Japan, most of the time. It is a stupid thread. That was a nice plug, but sorry, not what I am looking for, see my other thread. I apologize for making this thread. Couldn't help but notice that this site was slowed down after making this thread. Probably a lot of creepy traffic or federal authorities. Totally wasn't thinking. But it would be nice if they could bust Amazon for this.
  11. These are porn. They push the boundaries of what's "legal" under the law. It's not just pictures of people in bikinis. A lot have masturbation etc, underneath. I believe making a 5 year old girl spread her legs for a camera is unforgivable. I'm sure most of you would be moved to tears or violence if you saw one. Servo had one student that worked as a "companion." I've had thousands that don't. These "studies" are not accurate because every school is broken down to a different level. At the very bottom level, there might be schools that could have a 25% statistic, however, that will still only be less than 1% of all high school aged people, just like the percentage of 19 year olds still in high school. I doubt that you'll be able to understand this, but I'll try anyway. Nevermind has nothing to do with this. It's a photo of a nude baby. Unlike the junior idol dvds, Nirvana's album cover was not intended for consumer sexual gratification. Don't get me wrong, I'm in no way offended by a picture of a naked baby. I am, however, repulsed by making girls under ten do this: http://www.amazon.co.jp/世界のいもうと-金子美穂-Part2-株式会社アイマックス/dp/4904252896/ref=pd_cp_b_3_img http://www.amazon.co.jp/朝水れい-あまえんぼ-DVD/dp/B001KC4GPW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1257047237&sr=1-1-fkmr0 http://www.amazon.co.jp/純粋少女~プチぷにロリドール~-初海りか・川奈真歩-DVD-初海りか/dp/B002N7DGVS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1257047479&sr=1-1 I rest my case. Now I feel like kicking someone's ass.
  12. Your "fact" is way wrong. I've been working in this system for years. Also these aren't "norms" in anyway. It's just tolerated because people don't speak out. By your logic, people shouldn't go anywhere that has a subculture that irks them and people should never speak out against something. Everyone knows the kinds of organizations that makes these DVDs and they are something to fear. If enough people stood up to them, they would lose power. Well, please enjoy your underage prostitutes. I'm sure that the title of this thread has been picked up by law enforcement. Hope there is nothing questionable on your computer
  13. There's culture and then there's right or wrong. These dvds exploit young people (with the shittiest parents) to sell to perverts. The "sometimes I hate Japan" comment is directed to the government who does zilch to stop this. The DVD that offended me is gone now. The picture was a 5 year old girl wearing a bikini with her legs spread open on the cover. Tell me I'm being ethnocentric, man.
  14. as far as i know, only selling it is illegal. however, these dvds as far as i know (i would never subject myself to watching one) have children wear bikinis and play on camera. the "junior idol" (13-17) are more risque. i define it as porn, but amazon.jp doesn't, obviously, or amazon.com has no idea what's going on over here. mods, please delete this thread if it's not appropriate for a record site. i was just really pissed off to run into this crap while record shopping.
  15. Sometimes I hate Japan.. On Yahoo Auctions (Japan's ebay), I found a bunch of records I was looking for. They were cheap, just a few $ each. I look at the guy's other items and then, bam, 5 year old girl bikini DVDs, lots of DVDs of teen aged girls, while not naked, the content is pretty disturbing.. Anyway, I chose not to buy from the dealer and just wait for another opportunity. Then I realized that amazon.jp sells the same shit and I buy from amazon.jp all the time. So here's the question, dealer has something for sale that you really want. But is also selling something you despise. Do you buy? Or do you not support something you hate? Here's the link: http://openuser.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/user/lpzaurus
  16. I ordered the normal cover through VC. I'm not interested in test presses or alternative covers. I have very limited space. At one point I had copies of Phase 3 and Invasion USA on 2 different colors, but I sent the extras to a friend. This way they both get listened to (and black vinyl is cooler than pee vinyl) but thank you for asking, i appreciate it
  17. It's too late to listen to music in my tiny apartment now, but the last record I did play was this: Balzac for Halloween (it will be Nov in 9 minutes)
  18. I have a Danny Vapid collection, but there are two LPs I cannot seem to find, Sludgeworth's Wha's This? and the Methadones 21st Century Power Pop Riot. However, I've come close to scoring Power Pop Riot several times. One time I saw 2 on ebay, but there were no buy it nows. Then I saw a new one at No Idea and ordered it. But there was no response from No Idea for several days (on vacation). When the response came they said it was sold out and the ebay auctions ended. I've been combing the internet trying to find this record. Found one at a website called tower.com. However, since it takes 3-5 weeks to ship, I believe that they don't actually have it in stock. So even though I paid for it, I decided to keep looking. There was one on Gemm and one on Musicstack. I went to get the one of Gemm, but it was gone. Then I got the one from Musicstack, only to find out later by email that it was the same one from Gemm and someone else beat me to it by hours. I will find this LP someday.. I haven't heard it and wish to hear it first on LP. I know CDs are available..
  19. I was surprised to see riverdales and BW on black. Any information please?
  20. I don't understand why anyone would want a test press. No cover art. If it makes you happy, that's great. If it can add profits to a label or artist, that's great. I don't know why I'm saying this. You'll never have competition for a press test from me.
  21. I'd like to know everyone's method. I can't stand taking dust sleeves out and putting them back in jackets and I also get annoyed with taking jackets out of clear plastic sleeves. So I came up with a good solution, but it's still flawed. I discard the paper dust sleeves and replace them with "ricepaper" plastic sleeves. I need these because my set-up is really high in static electricity. Maybe that's why these things are popular in Japan. Before I used anti-static sleeves, the rubber mat on the tray would come up and stick to the record as I took it off the turntable. I insert the ricepaper sleeves sideways so that I never have to remove them. to protect the jacket and prevent the records from slipping out, I use the resealable plastic sleeves. I insert the jacket sideways as well, so I never have to remove it. These also look much better if you display your albums on a shelf, they are near invisible. The only problem is that when I return a record to the shelf, I often snag the resealable flap from the adjacent record to the right. So about half of my flaps are fucked up. How do you do it?
  22. Sometimes I buy some really old used records that have shrinkwrap on the cover. Then I remove it because it feels like opening it new. Sometimes I buy new records and cut a nice slit in the shrinkwrap with a box cutter so I can play the record and preserve the shiny cover. Then I get annoyed by the shrinkwrap and remove it. Last night I went record shopping and scored some mad Vindictives at 3 different stores within a 10 minutes walk from each other. At one store I got a new shrinkwrapped Many Moods x2 LP. At another store first pressing of Leave Home. (at their original prices) Then I came home, marveled that this is one of the last times these records would ever be sealed. And I removed the shrinkwrapped. I removed it all. HAHAHAHAHA
  23. probably 2500 available from the website and 1300 sent to distributors
