  1. A couple come to mind for me: I met John Popper from Blues Traveler at the airport. This was when he was still fat, and he was a super nice guy. I was next to him in the security line and started up some small talk about his shows at Red Rocks. We went our separate ways, then he saw me again while I was waiting for my plane and he sat next to me and talked for a while. I didn't know much about him but was really impressed. Believe it or not, another celebrity I was impressed with was Billy Ray Cyrus. Back during the Achy Breaky Heart days, I was vacationing for Thanksgiving with my family in Florida and my brother and I saw a tour bus with "BRC" on the side. We were joking about that being Billy Ray Cyrus, and then saw him later in the day. We said hi as he was walking by and he stopped and talked to us for about 5 minutes about what we were doing for Thanksgiving, where we were from, etc. He was actually a really cool guy. Finally, the biggest celebrity I had crossed paths with was Michael Jackson. I was probably 8 or 9 (insert joke here) and was at Disney Land with my family. We were in one of the gift shops and security guards came in and were clearing everyone out. They let my family and one other family stay, and then all of a sudden about 5 more guards came walking in. Right after them "the king of pop" himself waltzed in. We got a picture about 2 feet from him.
  2. Crestfallen was a great band, brings back high school memories
  3. Yeah, its probably a good thing. I don't need to be spending the money.
  4. I've been on a bad losing streak on EBay lately. I can't win anything.
  5. i would definitely pick that up. what's the price like? i don't own any bjork LP's because i've never seen one for under $50 in canada. I think they had one for like $30 or $32. Fairly pricey but it looks like they usually go for a pretty good amount on the bay.
  6. Cool, thanks guys. How is the stuff on "Greatest Hits"? They've got the double LP at a local store and I was thinking of picking it up.
  7. I'm a bit late to the party but have been getting into Bjork lately. I have the live version of Vespertine and that is it. What should I check out next?
  8. Bongzilla - Methods for Attaining - Green 180g Vinyl - Screenprinted ziplock baggie
  9. I really enjoyed this movie. It was kind of stressful to watch because my wife and I adopted our daughter, but I liked it and will probably be able to enjoy it more the second time.
  10. Check out this story from a local paper. We have an old rubber factory here that is big for urban exploring. Some dude died falling into an elevator shaft. http://news.westword.com/2007-12-20/news/gone/
  11. Understood. Just because I started noticing a band in the last year doesn't mean that they haven't been working at it for a while. (It just means I haven't done my research) But i'm sticking with my Panic at the Disco reference, damnit!!
  12. Agreed, when a band builds a nice fan base with a DIY mentality and "anti-establishment" lyrics it sours me a bit when they sign to a major. That being said, I still have respect for a band that started from the ground up instead of being spit out of the "cute alternative band" generator (ie. Paramore and Panic at the Disco)
  13. Great album. I've got the green version so that will probably do for me. I agree, clear would be cool though. I was listening to "Pink" this morning. That record is all over the place. In a good way, of course.
  14. Very cool. Lets just say that my records are "strategically hidden" by my wife in the corner of our bedroom.
  15. Definitely go to Twist and Shout, and you can also hit up Wax Trax which is close to Twist and Shout. (Make sure you look in the shelves under the record displays at Twist and Shout, sometimes you can find some good stuff there that hasn't moved up to the displays yet)
  16. We entered the reception to the Ramones and played some other songs we liked, but the rest of the night we left it to the DJ and any requests people had. It ended up being a great party and the DJ was great.
  17. Got my Neurosis "Through Silver in Blood" on ugly ass yellow and green splatter. I didn't get a booklet in mine, which was a bit disappointing, but i'm sure it will sound great.
  18. Went to the record store today: All - Allroy Sez Black Sabbath - Born Again Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell Black Sabbath - Live Evil (2xLP) Boris - Pink (2xLP, Pink Vinyl) Deep Purple - Burn Ten Foot Pole - Rev Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak Neil Young with Crazy Horse - Everybody Knows this is Nowhere (2 Color Label 1st Press) $65 for all this loot.
  19. That would have been a great show with MCD. I saw Pearl Jam with Bad Religion at Red Rocks in the 90's and that was pretty rad.
