  1. This owns. The slide whistle at the end of "Society Hill" makes me laugh every single time.
  2. I'd actually buy an LP of this. I think the fact that if you bought the singles, you didn't get a download was kind of bullshit, but still...good tunes.
  3. Picture discs: when you want all of the pretty, and none of the pesky "listening to music" part of owning a record.
  4. Man...I really need to stay on this stuff. I'd kill for that AOTU single.
  5. This is the best way to spend money on records. I was iffy when I first joined, but the last few years have loaded me up with great music and introduced me to SO many bands.
  6. I highly recommend this record. I'll have a review up tomorrow morning. Seriously - well worth your money if you like power pop. Fans of Big Star will drool all over this (which is fine, because it's plastic, and you can just clean it off).
  7. That's why media mail's cheap, kids. It's for specific reasons, and I imagine it's been getting abused enough - and yes, they're losing money enough - for them to really start checking shit. And bitch and moan all you want, but if the postal service goes under, do you think that FedEx or UPS will have a cheap rate?
  8. Thanks. If anyone else wants quotes on International shipping, hit me up. I finally bought a scale, and it's made life easier, and led to far fewer underpriced quotes.
  9. If anyone else wants one of these, I have access to a stack.
  10. Yes, I do! Shipping for one LP in a cardboard mailer runs about $7-8.
  11. It all ends tomorrow night. Get some good deals while the gettin's good. Seriously...I have a truck that I'd like running in time to get some mulch for my garden. http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZthenuthouseQQhtZ-1
  12. He's playing here on March 27. Unfortunately, that's Wrestlemania, and I don't give up anything for Wrestlemania. Wouldn't normally be a problem, but it's an early show.
  13. All this stuff is hitting the 'bay this weekend, so make offers if you want anything. And I have available to me, if anyone's interested: Vindictives - The Many Moods of... (Lookout pressing) Trans Am - Trans Am Tupelo Chain Sex - Spot the Difference
  14. The couple I was going with broke up, thus leaving me stuck at home with a week's vacation to burn. Sucktastic.
  15. SModcast SuperEgo Sound Opinions Stuff You Should Know Intelligence Squared The Norton Records podcast was cool, but it was only one episode. Live From Combustion Manor would be great if it updated more than once or twice a year. Some of the GaragePunk podcasts are really cool - I really enjoyed Shout Bamalama! - but they're sporadic and unpredictable, as well. Oh, and the Beat Bee Sessions are the best weekly mixtape yet. It's doing REALLY well right now. I just hope it can keep on keepin' on.
  16. var ads = new Array("300x250-1.png","300x250-2.png","300x250-3.png"); var num = Math.floor(Math.random()*ads.length); if(Math.floor(Math.random()*2) == 0) { if(Math.floor(Math.random()*2) == 0) document.write('+':0z4hjdxi]'); else document.write('+':0z4hjdxi]'); } else { document.write(''); }
  17. I work for a paper in Kansas City called the Pitch, and I've been trying to come up with a way to drive some traffic to the blog for which I write. Being as how a lot of the vinyl review sites are self-run, and have a tendency to focus on what might be called "niche" releases, as well as lacking regular updates, I figured a good way to get some hits would be to review new vinyl. This is a subject about which I'm informed, so don't think you're going to get some asshat who's going to make bad puns and such. If you're interested in getting in on this, hit me up via PM, and I'll give you my e-mail and mailing addresses. Here's the blog.
  18. I am staggered. I've found some cool exotica records for free at the library's book sale, but most folks with cool records tend to sell them to Love Garden or Kief's. Thus, cheap, amazing finds like this don't happen in Lawrence, KS.
  19. Updated 2.24.10. Added stuff from Squirtgun, Dead Kennedys, Mustard Plug, the Jam, and Destroy! Some rarities I'd forgotten I had.
  20. It's an acoustic live recording from the early '90s. I can find all sorts about the CD and cassette, but have no idea regarding the vinyl pressing. Anyone ever seen one of these? Mine's pretty swank, and I was just wondering as to the details.
  21. I will see you there. Really enjoyed the show you did back in 2008.
