  1. What pisses me off is that most things coming out (Bouncing Souls, Superchunk/Coliseum split, Piebald set) are all things that people would buy WHENEVER they came out. This is stuff that would sell out anyhow, and will now sell out even more quickly because of the attendant hype. It's bad enough dealing with speculators when I was buying the Under the Influence singles, but it's an infinite amount worse when I have to get up early on my day off and stand in line with a bunch of people whom I'm embarrassed to be associated (yes, yes - pot calling the kettle black) in order to buy a single and a couple LPs.
  2. Hit up Showlist Austin. It's always been my SXSW go-to: http://showlistaustin.com/
  3. It is. Listed on Rise's releases page, and is stated as such: "PIEBALD TRIPLE LP RISE RECORDS 127 - AVAILABLE 4.16.11" Limited to 1,000.
  4. Amazingly frustrated they don't have this on tour right now.
  5. I just wish I could get these records without having to drop INSANE amounts of coin after standing in line. This is all shit people obviously want.
  6. I went to a wedding AND saw Fucked Up play four days after getting my gallbladder removed. It's not so bad.

  8. From Trouble In Mind's blog: "We'll have our 2011 SXSW/Record Store Day 4-way covers split single out by the show featuring Mean Jeans (covering Sparks' 'Forever Young'), Eddy Current Suppression Ring (covering The Go-Go's 'We Got The Beat'), The Wrong Words (covering a PF Sloan song "Here's Where You Belong"), & also Jack Oblivian (covering Tommy James & the Shondells' "Moses & Me"). This 4-way split is ONLY available at this show & via your local record shop on Record Store Day (April 16th, 2011) - if you're unsure if your local store will carry it, & you'd like them to - have them get in touch with us at: [email protected]" http://troubleinmindrecs.blogspot.com/2011/02/sxsw-2011-upcoming-stuff-for-2011-holy.html

  11. If there's a Hastings near you, it's worth popping in to look at their vinyl selection. If you've got the patience, eventually you'll be able to pick stuff up for CHEAP. Nobody buys shit from there, and they just keep marking it down.

  13. "Keith Case" is about the only song that's really memorable, and that was on "Simple Science." The first couple tracks are interesting, in that they're in a new direction, but the sound is fairly static throughout. It's not like they move around a lot within the sonic framework they've set up for themselves. The Popes' work on this album stands out more than anything else: if anything, the drums on "There Are Rules" are totally monster. It's got a really big sonic footprint - it's just a shame that it doesn't really ever build upward.
  14. Bought a record that some dude shipped diagonally in an auto parts box, filled out with packing peanuts. No plastic sleeve, and he left the record inside the jacket. Spine's punched through, jacket's bent, dinged, and torn. This is the e-mail convo we had... While I appreciate the speedy shipping, the way you packed the record left something to be desired. It might have been mint when you had it, but putting it into a box too small for the LP meant that when I got it, the cover was bent and torn. Is there any way we can rectify this? I'm sorry but theres no way the cover could have torn inside box. There's not enough weight to it for the box to have been smashed when thrown about. The listing also said that the record was in mint condition. The album cover was in perfect condition when I packed it with the peanuts. Considering there is nothing wrong with the record, I can't offer you anything. No refunds. Well, hey - thanks for blaming me for the cover being damaged. So, I left negative feedback, and get a request back, asking me to change feedback for the following reason: The box was not packed with foam peanuts. The said damage was not from improper packing. I responded that I have an e-mail that he sent wherein he said he used peanuts. It's since been quiet. What a douche.
  15. Let me guess: you really want to go and are trying to make sure nobody else enters?
  16. Ordered, and thanks to Matt for letting me add to stuff that hadn't shipped yet. Big Eyes, Mixtapes, and this means an awful lotta pop's headed my way.
