I think only one or two person here took the time to mention by genre (or kind of music). Whenever I feel like jazz, I go to the jazz section, whenever I feel like rock'n'roll, I go to the rock'n'roll section. From there I take the first one, listen to it and put it at the end of its cube. That way I get to listen to everyone of my records about once a year. Large artist collections get their own spots.

I bought a Fu Manchu "In search of" record while at their show this weekend and it was not the advertised colored tour copy but a standard black. I should have opened it on site.

I like being able to buy a new record from a label for $15 without having to track down a 15 year old copy for $50+. I don't get you point about repressing an out of print record that people want.

Cool story! I listen to records whenever I'm at home and not sleeping or eating. Most people are puzzled by why I have so many records but it's cool because most of my friends are gaining interest into it with time. I track old turntables for them. I also give CDs or vinyl records for their birthdays or christmas just so they let a bit go of all the downloading. I've had more than my share of downloading back in the early 2000s but now it's time to give something back and enjoy music even more.

any experiences/reviews on those velvet pads? They're quite alright. The liquid cleans dirty records nicely enough for me. Pads do wear out after maybe a hundred wash with the liquid but they're cheap and effective so I bought more. Personnally, I prefer a large brush that's long enough to make the record lenght but the small pads work well with 7" or to clean dirty LPs with the solution. I tried their stylus cleaner but I'm not sure if it's working well since dirt can't be seen.

I suppose you can try the wood glue trick. It took off a lot of noise from a few recs of mine.

Check jumpuprecords.com They have awesome reggae LPs at awesome prices. I think there's a sale of 5 LPs for 25$. It might not be old records but they sound just as old school. I have a extra Harry J Allstars S/T LP but it's not cheap.
