  1. Keep us posted if you find something worth sharing. I've had the same TT for a couple of years and always refused to use a felt slipmat (they feel like dust magnets) but this acrylic one could be interesting. I kinda like the original rubber mat though, I just have to clean it one in a while with alcohol.
  2. Cool idea! Makes me wonder if someone could make a playable 7 inch adapter. Third Man Records should look into that.
  3. I used to have this problem last year. The vibrations from the speakers went up to the turntable and caused a similar problem at mid-high volume. I simply put some rubber feet under the speakers and it was ok after that. To make sure if your problem is the same as mine, try at a lower volume to hear if it still doing some feedback, if not, isolate your speakers or turntable. You can also try to lift your speakers off the ground when you hear the feedback and if it goes away the problem comes from the vibrations.
  4. A comparable test was made at Analog Planet and it said the AudioQuest brush was great! http://www.analogplanet.com/content/big-brush-three-dry-record-brushes-compared
  5. I'm not that sure about the average age and musical tastes of the board members... By the way, PopSike does not list records that sold below $20.
  6. Depends on the condition of each record and jacket. I see you have some good music there but also some less sought after records. I'd say on average between $0.50 to $5 per record.
  7. Primus sucks! Will wait for an Amazon pre-order and a few more listens because the leaked track ain't too good.
  8. I think this is the only version available. I bought mine in 2011 and it was green and limited.
  9. I got a super good deal on that one. It was only available at the merch boot at some video game expo if you bought for $300 worth of stuff. I got it on the bay for like $50 or less. It's on thick blue vinyl and limited to 200 copies. Plus, it's signed by Dj Qbert. The music is mostly rap, not my thing but a great addition to my collection.
  10. That picture was taken maybe 2 years ago and I've got a bit more since then but I,m not activily looking for more since they're all kinda pricy. Especially the japanese imports.
  11. It's awesome that you got some back (at least you will). Do you guys know you can get insurance on your record collection? I insured mine for $20,000 and it costs me like $30 per year. I'd be a fool not to take that opportunity when it's worth so much.
  12. When I bought a new Ortofon 2M Red cartridge for my Denon DP-300F, they provided different screws with it and I think the smallest ones fitted so you might want to check that out if you need.
  13. People before me have had good points that you must check (clean records + weight + antiskating). You should check if it still skips at very low volume because the rumble from your speakers might be enough to make a skip. If so, try to put rubber feet on your speakers or isolate your TT. Good luck.
  14. An older TT of mine used to do that when it was not leveled. Make sure it's straight.
  15. If it would have been a mechanical part I would probably have used something like "rubber renew" that we use at job for printer rubber gears. But it can leave a oily residue on the rubber which is not what you want on your platter. I am cleaning it once or twice per year with alcohol. It's crazy the amount of dirt that gets on it and in the cracks. The 7" crack always leaves the cloth with big nasty streaks of dirt. I keep the cover closed most of the time and do not live in a particurlary dirty aera. I tend to buy used vinyl I clean them whenever I feel like they need a cleaning so that probably why it gets dirty like that after a year. So alcohol seems to be working fine for me. Any chemist here that can say if a bit of alcohol on a rubber mat is good or bad for records and the mat itself?
  16. Bumping so you can have a little more Christmas money!
  17. Sounds like a wiring problem by your tonearm or the wires connections/solders. If I had that problem, I would check that by myself since I work in electronics but if you're not that handy with assembling and dessembling common devices your may do it wrong and cause more arm. My best advice is to ask a turntable professional to check it and repair it but that would cost you.
  18. Hello world. I've seen a lot of folks taking good care of their needles but ignoring the state or the quality of their mat underneat. After all, if it's dirty, your records will get dirty too. I've been ditching felt mats because I think they attract to much dust and I kept the original rubber mat of my Denon DP300F. I've been using alcohol to clean my rubber mat and it's seems to do a good job but I've wondering if people had better alternatives. Also, is alcohol a bad idea to clean the mat with?
  19. Hi! My local record store kept my hanging telling me they should get RUSH - THE GARDEN (10" pic disc) but only after RSD since their distributor was late or something. It turns out they won't have it. I'm looking for an affordable copy not a $50 ebay copy. It's only 2 songs after all and not that rare. If you have it, or know you can get it for me, I will be grateful and pay for your troubles. I am located in Canada, I made thousands of deals before and I'd prefer standard shipping. Thanks!
  20. It's true that they barely have any B-sides/rarities but at least this record will have a live version with the string ensemble.
  21. Presto is easy to find here in Canada. I've seen them in a lot of garage sales and stores for cheap. If you want to hear what this remix sounds like, here a link to stream the entire album @ Rolling Stone : http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/rush-remix-their-polarizing-album-vapor-trails-premiere-20130927 Normally, albums should not be tempered with years after their release as they are a time capsule but I think they made a great job this time because of the fuzzy/heavy audio on the original. You can hear way more details now. I just got my copy in the mail. If there's anything worth mentioning about this release (a download code maybe?), I'll report back!
  22. I've been having a hard time with backordered items recently with POP MARKET. One of my order is pending from March 2013! That's right. It was a great price for 2 LP/Shirt bundles and I want my items but damn! Every time they postpone the shipping date to another month. My second order is a 3 vinyl set of Black Sabbath made a month ago. This time it says that one record is out of stock/backordered. Why the fuck would they make a dealy deal without having enough records let alone the products themselves? They used to have great deals but now theirs "deals" are mostly retail prices or higher. Avoid until they get themselves together.
  23. I had the same problem recently and I found out it was because the speakers made too much vibrations at loud volume. Rubber feet resolved my problem.
  24. I agree with Marc on this. It would make more sense as 7 inches but I can only imagine how much would cost a 150 x 7" box. It's overkill in price and in space. Even pressed on full lenght LPs there would probably be like 40 of them...
