  1. Seller mentions in his auction that he created that account to keep is normal account private. Read it. With all those pictures as proof, I don't think it's sketchy.
  2. Anyone here ever got damaged records for letting them lean like that? It feels like they would slightly warp and bend with time with that kind of pressure.
  3. Another thing that might be possible is that the internal ground cable is not actually grounded. You would have to open your TT to check it so that Funk-O-Mart funky dude might be able to check it for you.
  4. I have good electric and electronic knowledge and one thing that comes to my mind after reading your posts is that you might have a failing ground in your electric outlet. Get a good power bar/battery backup/voltage regulator to another outlet from another wall and try it again. If you do not have a voltage regulator and your electricity is unstable, it can cause so low noise if you pay very close attention. Some power bars have a ground indicator so check if you have one and if it tells you it's grounded. These are just thoughts I had for your problem but it might be something else...
  5. I use this Zoom R16 with Reaper. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/zoom-r16-multitrack-recorder-interface-controller Not analog but damn good for the price. Totally portable and each tracks are separated in your computer. Put a 16 gb SD card in there and your good for about 4-5 hours with 8 tracks at once. Way better than my old Yamaha 4 track recorder. I once recorded a live show with it and it came out great except for one mic which had trouble. I recorded a lot of jams with it and they're all super good. It does take a bit of time to get used to it but it's so fast and easy working with digital tracks.
  6. I find the automatic functions to be essential to my listening habits. Especially the auto-return since I'm always doing something else while music's playing or I just fall straight asleep. I guess that's just a matter of getting used to it if it's manual but I hate to wake up in the morning and find that the record's been spinning all night on the end groove.
  7. I am bummed that the red copy I will receive is so thin. I could have gone with a clear or grey one if I knew it was a 180g record and the red was a 120g. I suppose the red is just like the OPIV Energy reissue? Mine played great but felt super cheap.
  8. For acetates I could understand the sound quality issue but please explain why a vinyl test pressing would sound like crap? I think they should sound the best since they are the very first pressings.
  9. No, this dude is the only one convinced about it without any proof or evidence whatsowever.
  10. Check the DENON DP300F. Sometimes it's on sale on Amazon for about $300 which is a great deal and it's a great automatic turntable.
  11. I think you're a lucky guy to have such a good friend. I'm a huge Rush fan and I'm looking for "Vapor Trails" if you stumble upon it. It was released on Atlantic in 2002. I would give good money for it.
  12. From what I could read on Amazon, a couple of these break from time to time. It could only be the fuse so if it happens to you, check it. Reviews are not that great for that receiver, I tought it was a great unit but I never really tried it. http://www.amazon.com/Denon-DRA-395-Multi-Source-Multi-Zone-Receiver/product-reviews/B0002266AE
  13. I think you've just been nominated for the most useless thread of the year.
  14. It will be named "NOFX essentials"! You just know it.
  15. Ha! That's a funny coincidence. I love that turntable! It looks classy and people are always amazed when they see my setup. In fact, most people have no idea that vinyl records are still being made. I much prefer an automatic compared to a manual. No need for speed box either. I also added a good power bar for the sake of keeping my electronics working if something horrible happens. I think I'll upgrade the cart to a Grado Red next year for the sake of better sound when the needle will be due for a replacement. My speakers were from a killer deal so I got them right away but I know that I'll want to upgrade them too. I never had any issue with it. To tell you the truth, I tought I would find flaws with time but there is none so far. I've had it for about 3 years now. The integrated pre-amp is not super but I don't need it anyway with the HK. Highly recommended but it seems to be discarded by most folks who shop for a $300-$500 turntable and I wonder why.
  16. Thanks. By "ported", you mean the breathing holes of the tower? They have one each in front if my memory is right. I'll check that out tonight. I guess having them in front doesn't change anything.
  17. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the turntable is a Denon DP300F, amp is a Harman Kardon 3390 and speakers are Polk Audio.
  18. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/160921955348?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649&autorefresh=true#ht_635wt_910 2 Bosstones singles for $122.
  19. To OP : Check the record label's website. Some have good info available.
  20. It looks like he's trying to make his store an experience more than a simple store which is honorable.
  21. Some very interesting read at Amazon. I think I'm going to wait before buying this even though I waited years for it.
  22. Wow that's sad. I can only imagine how many awesome record collections got trashed by the storm.
  23. You don't need a Mac for all of those except if you need a specific program only available for Mac. Today's Windows computers are just as good as Macs and you can get good software for cheap or free. Sure there are less viruses on a Mac. Macs are prettier. But Macs cost a lot more and they are not better. Truly professional work may require Macs and Mac knowledge but if it's personnal use you're paying too much for a white computer with a shiny logo. The same goes for the "smart"phones. Some people I work for have a lot of money and they sometimes get Macs but only because they're pretty, not because they're better. In fact, I would guess the return/damage rate of Mac computers are about the same as PCs. I build computers and servers for a living. Working in computers for 10 years.
