I wasn't planning on ordering this since I have an original pressing, but the remaster and extra tracks changed that.

I am about 93% sure it's Rival Schools - United by Fate.

I have Shop Cast in my RSS  and United By Fate popped
up for sale about a week ago.
and then disappeared again in like ten minutes..

sucks that I just bought an OG copy of it like 3 months ago.

Well, that seems like pretty conclusive evidence right there.  It wouldn't surprise me considering they just pressed "Found" recently.

@lexicondevil - man, True Widow is one of my favorites. Give their records a chance - especially "AS high AS the Highest Heavens..." thats the fucking jam. Unless you have heard the albums, I can see how it would be hard to be into them live though.

I bought that poster too but our house cleaners mangled it!

A FEW WORDS REGARDING THIS POLARIS PRIZE THING
    hello kanada.
    hello kanadian music-writers.
thanks for the nomination thanks for the prize- it feels nice to be acknowledged by the Troubled Motherland when we so often feel orphaned here. and much respect for all y’all who write about local bands, who blow that horn loudly- because that trumpeting is crucial and necessary and important.
and much respect to the freelancers especially, because freelancing is a hard fucking gig, and almost all of us are freelancers now, right? falling and scrambling and hustling through these difficult times?
so yes, we are grateful, and yes we are humble and we are shy to complain when we’ve been acknowledged thusly- BUT HOLY SHIT AND HOLY COW- we’ve been plowing our field on the margins of weird culture for almost 20 years now, and “this scene is pretty cool but what it really fucking needs is an awards show” is not a thought that’s ever crossed our minds.
3 quick bullet-points that almost anybody could agree on maybe=
-holding a gala during a time of austerity and normalized decline is a weird thing to do.
-organizing a gala just so musicians can compete against each other for a novelty-sized cheque doesn’t serve the cause of righteous music at all.
-asking the toyota motor company to help cover the tab for that gala, during a summer where the melting northern ice caps are live-streaming on the internet, IS FUCKING INSANE, and comes across as tone-deaf to the current horrifying malaise.
these are hard times for everybody. and musicians’ blues are pretty low on the list of things in need of urgent correction BUT AND BUT if the point of this prize and party is acknowledging music-labor performed in the name of something other than quick money, well then maybe the next celebration should happen in a cruddier hall, without the corporate banners and culture overlords. and maybe a party thusly is long overdue- it would be truly nice to enjoy that hang, somewhere sometime where the point wasn’t just lazy money patting itself on the back.
give the money to the kids let ‘em put on their own goddamn parties, give the money to the olds and let them try to write opuses in spite of, but let the muchmusic videostars fight it out in the inconsequential middle, without gov’t. culture-money in their pockets.
us we’re gonna use the money to try to set up a program so that prisoners in quebec have musical instruments if they need them…
    amen and amen.
    apologies for being such bores,
we love you so much / our country is fucked,
    xoxoxox
    godspeed you! black emperor

thepunkguy reacted to scottyrobotty in PO: Sigur Rós - Kveikur (new album on 2XLP)
I managed to get one of those screened cover editions of Kveikur. On a messageboard I posted for help in London if anyone was going to the Independent Market. A nice guy messaged me and told me he was going to go to see Pere Ubu and he'd go early and try to snag me one. He only charged me what he paid plus shipping. I gave him some extra money just because he's awesome. Though he'd never mailed a record before it was probably the best packaged album I've ever seen. I geek out super hard for Sigur Rós and this is the centerpiece of my SR collection.

I'm rarely in Manhattan, but Generation Records is my favorite place.
The two times I've been to Record Grouch, I didn't feel very welcome.
My go to record stores are Academy and Co-op in Brooklyn.
Black Gold is nice because you can get coffee and browse through records and antiques at the same time.

Formed in 1994, Altamont was started as a side project by Dale Crover of Melvins, along with Joey Osbourne of Acid King and Dan Southwick. This will be their first release since 2005 after having records previously released by Mans Ruin Records and AntAcidAudio.

In addition to the regular edition of 500 on black vinyl, we are releasing a very limited amount on colored vinyl!

I shop in nyc record stores quite a bit.. (*in no order)

    1.  Manhattan - Other Music (as mentioned) it's great for experimental and new indie.
    2.  Manhattan - Kim's - terribly managed but has some nice stuff and some interesting new stuff.
    3.  Manhattan - Generation Records - great new punk and hardcore, not a ton of old stuff at all.
    4.  Academy (2 shops in NYC, 1 in BK)  go to the Brooklyn one (it's moving as of Oct.)..  great used stuff
    5.  Brooklyn - Record Grouch - some really nice used and new stuff but be careful I know that the dude there will put out scratched stuff or mislabeled shit.
    6. Brooklyn -  Permanent Records - meh..  sometimes ok stuff
    7. Brooklyn -  Human Head - Travis who works / own this place is on here, it's a good shop with some really nice finds on there..
    8. Brooklyn -  Black Gold - a friend's shop that really specializes in some cool indie stuff from the 90's  / 00's

also, turntable lab and living in stereo have some really nice hip hop stuff in Manhattan
outside of the city there is vintage vinyl in NJ, Clockwork Records near White Plains and a few other great shops.

A medium Next Level Apparel T shirt sold only at the Texas is the Reason show at Maxwell's in NJ on July 22, 2013.

    It's black and says

    "TX MX JULY 22, 2013"

from what I understand these were only made for this show and
they weren't sold anywhere else.  .. (could be wrong about that)..

I know they are limited to like 200 or less.

    NEVER WORN.

    ships from NYC.

    PM me if you're interested.

I have no problem whatsoever with this. They are super talented, looking to make a bit of money to cover production and they are being completely open about that. The band has probably never made any money off this release or their first.
This version is limited to only 20 purple copies and the orange copies out of 300 (or is it 400?) even sell for $100 and up. So a purple out of 20 for $100 with money going directly to the band is not bad at all in my opinion.
    I totally bought one!
