I picked up a couple in Perth, Western Australia this week - 1826 and 1824 (or something close to that).

Before I really collected vinyl, when the White Stripes released 'Elephant', I remembered hearing about the six different covers for LPs and CDs throughout the world. For Australia, it was with both Jack and Meg in white on the cover, but the vinyl itself was black. I bought about four copies from the local record store, and sold them on ebay. The first one I got $75, the second about $60 and the third around $45. I had one copy left, which I planned to keep, but then saw the US version had coloured vinyl! Soooooo....I traded it straight out with a guy in the US. Now, due to a pressing error or something....it turns out there were only 300 or so copies in existence, and they go for a ton. I had four of them!!!!

I bought the Nick 13 S/T LP direct from his website recently, and the record arrived all banged up after a half assed effort for packing. I've sent two emails, and the only response I've had from Cinderblock is the automated response saying 'thanks for your email, we'll respond promptly' or whatever.

My dog chewed my copy this week. Ripped the shit out of the spine, and chewed two of the corners of the cover. I tried to be angry, but it was my fault for not walking him for a week!

So I just bought a new receiver, a pioneer vsx-921k, and need some technical advice. I have noticed that the sound out of one speaker is much lower than the other. My player is a Stanton t-120, and I'm running on stereo (not surround etc) when playing vinyl. I've switched the speaker wiring around, and it's not a dodgy speaker, but I honestly don't know whether this was happening on my old receiver or not. And now I'm wondering if it's always been like this, and/or if it should be like this? If not, does anyone have any idea what the reason for it may be?

Unless you want one for say, your bedroom whilst your stereo is in your lounge? Maybe a $200 docking station has comparable sound to an old stereo, and takes up less space? Or maybe, just maybe you have an ipod/iphone which needs to be charged from time to time?

I ordered from SRC along with a few other items. Danny always seems to look after me, so I'll always go with them unless it's an exclusive from somewhere else.

I'm surprised your records haven't crushed your stereo! That's a lot of weight on top of it there!!

Hey dude, I sent you a PM a week or so ago.....chasing a few records if you still have them.

At the time, I didn't know they had a couple of hundred copies of the album available, but I bought a copy for my girlfriend. It's her favourite album by her favourite band, and I could afford to pay that much. It seemed a little cheaper than the others that had come up over the past while, so I jumped at it. It was bought as a gift for someone who will cherish it and play it time after time. The fact there is the opportunity for a lot of other die hard fans to get their holy grail is an opportunity that doesn't come up too often, and knowing more people now have copies in their collection doesn't cheapen the fact that I got to see my girl grinning from ear to ear when she opened the mailer.

I'm pretty sure the pressing was a random distribution of colours across the entire run of 2000. You could buy two from the same place and they could be different colours.

I think the secret email to previous supporters is the way to go. Living in Australia (and Western Australia even moreso) makes it quite difficult to catch presales at a reasonable time. I've set alarms for the strangest times to make sure I catch new release presales, interstate/overseas concert tickets and foreign ebay auctions. The only thing I would say is to make sure nobody exploits the 'member' presale, only existing 'members' can order in the presale period, and even then only say, 2 copies each. Otherwise you'll have someone sending the presale password or link to other people which will defeat the purpose of having the secret list in the first place....

How can I add a copy of Exit English to my order for the new Fake Problems that I placed a week or two back??

Wasn't this released a year or two back or is it a rerelease of the MoFi version? I bought it around a year ago (and yeah, its a great recording of a great album)
