  1. Kelley Davis is rad and his band Engine Down was highly underrated.
  2. Tight. Last time I saw this in a store it was 12.99, and I didn't get it. That was years ago. I bought 'Maps' around the same time but it was pressed way off center and took it back.
  3. It's pressed at MPO in France, yes, but so is the new Polica album I picked up for $18. And that has a textured cover to boot. There's just no excuse.
  4. Especially since the music is sparse and dynamic, it could easily fit onto a single LP without significant quality loss. Even at a standard 2xLP, there's no reason it couldn't be $20-22. There's nothing extravagant about it, nor could there have been any extraneous cost for producing the material.
  5. The vinyl pressing of this album certainly has no good reason for being $30-$35. Material is good though. Pressed at MPO in France.
  6. I find the incessant aversion to white vinyl totally unnecessary. Several albums come to mind on white that sound just fine, great even. Including 'Diamond Eyes'. Any vinyl pressing on any color can sound great or like shit. Including white. And gold. It's all digital anyway.
  7. 'Covers' was 3000 and so far not repressed after RSD '11. But it's still attainable.
  8. I didn't know this was coming out until the day before. Sweet 'limited' rose colored vinyl. Familiar sounds for the most part, but that's not a bad thing in my opinion. http://www.thisispolica.com/store-us.php It's 24.99 from their store, found it locally for 17.99 They're also on tour now. New videos for 'Wedding' & 'Lime Habit' :
  9. I had the original and never thought it sounded great. The reissue sounded as good if not slightly better to me, maybe just a smoother EQ, so I sold the original. Don't regret it.
  10. Color doesn't matter as much as the quality of the vinyl, in my experience. Diamond Eyes is on white, and sounds great. Plenty of white records I have sound great, some of them fantastic. There is plenty of black vinyl that sounds like poop, not because it's black, because it's of inferior quality. Warner usually has some pretty good quality vinyl, so I wouldn't be turned off by white on this. The price, however, is crap.
  11. world record! record ... Record ... Record .... annoying.
  12. Haven't seen a box in person yet but I'm sure it's a neat piece. The clear vinyl is definitely awesome. Album sounds great on vinyl, as the seperate master used is definitely more dynamic overall. Friendly reminder: most of us know Pirates Press haze pressings are proned to the sandpaper effect at first, some more than others. So, be sure to give that blue a good cleaning however you can before playing, and replace the inner sleeve if possible. Very glad people are stoked for this. It's been such a long time coming.
  13. Hybrid of the two colors. The clear version will be used for the wood boxes. 'Regular' pressing will have a blue 12". I'll let intheclouds divulge pressing info and all that. The inside of the gatefold is quite nice too.
  14. Just listened to it again. With fresh ears, I can definitely recommend it. And, it's definitely a different mix than the original CD. I was listening to 'Sleepwalk Capsules' expecting those high harmonic guitar notes in the 2nd verse, and they weren't there. Weird to know a song for so long, listen to it and expect something you've always heard, and then not hear it. But, I liked it better. Omar hated the original mix. I can say I definitely prefer the 2013 version of the album.
  15. Haha, go for it. I'll have the final version in hand tomorrow. Let ya know how it turns out.
  16. I don't recall the exact number, definitely not 1,000 though. However great this album is, and thankfully there are people out there excited for it, there really isn't a need to press more than a few hundred at first, see how it goes.
  17. I don't believe anyone here will have trouble getting the record. The box version, maybe.
  18. It's a bit more dynamic than the CD overall, even the the album itself isn't incredibly dynamic to begin with. And apparently it is the original board mix, not the Andy Wallace version. It's not 'amazing', but it is worth getting.
  19. Yeah it definitely doesn't have quite the emotional component I've enjoyed in their music. I too am a little confused by the adoration. Comparatively, the songs are much more formulaic. Maybe that's what they were going for to reach a newer audience. Doesn't quite work for me though.
  20. Listening to the copy I got from Amazon. After mixing and mastering my own record recently, I've become even more sensitive and aware of compression and limiting in recorded music and damn, this album sure has a lot of compression. Compared to past albums and especially the recent vinyl reissues of them, this one unfortunately suffers from modern production precedents. It also definitely feels like a 'Stephan Jenkins and whoever else is in his band at the moment' album than a proper 3eb record. It's good, but not great.
  21. Finally listening to A Boy Named Goo. I really expected it to be pressed at United, thankfully it is not. Pretty quiet noise floor, very decent sound quality. Clear, but warm. I'd say an excellent reissue, and for under $20 no less. You know, the way it should be. 'Naked' is one of my favorites of the 90s, sounded better than ever.
