  1. Picked it up locally for $17.99. Kinda wish the retail version was black, surprised it's the clear w/ brown splatter. Even after a VPI bath, still a bit noisier than I'd expect at times. Sounds better than the last couple on vinyl, but I found myself turning up the treble a notch more than I usually would. Great music though. It's one of their best.
  2. Having conceded that it just wasn't worth $30+, I bought the CD last week. Today I visited a record store in a suburb I hadn't been to in awhile. Surprisingly, even though they are part of a chain in which the other stores have the vinyl advertised for 25.95, they had it for 21.95. Figured it was worth a shot. After a spin on a VPI, it had its segments of distracting noise, but not overwhelmingly so. Pretty average, really. Bonus, I found The Mercury Program 'A Data Learn the Language' & 'All the Suits Began to Fall Off' on vinyl. Could not believe it. I've never seen either of them before. Both were dusty and a bit worn, but reasonably priced and cleaned up nicely. Best score in quite awhile.
  3. [double post removed] is there really no way to delete a post??
  4. They aren't cheap to make, but they aren't THAT expensive. That record could be sold for $18-$22, and it would have been a couple of years ago. We've been like frogs in boiling water for awhile.
  5. I'm quite looking forward to this album, but fuck $30. Just fuck that. There's no reason, and I am so sick of this shit.
  6. It's definitely noise on the vinyl, I've listened digitally as well. It's a snappy, staticky sound.
  7. Anyone have some glitchy distortion sounds in the right channel of New Myths? I can hear it through almost the whole thing and it's pretty distracting. Oddly, it seems to stop between songs and then come back with the music. I know it's only $12 but if it's only mine, I gotta ask for a replacement. Otherwise, the music is great.
  8. Double checked closely and Chez is not a new plating, just has the addition of the United logo. I always hate to see that. I still think it somehow doesn't sound quite as good to me.
  9. Was hoping the Chez repress was done at QRP as well, but it is United. It's also a new plating. Doesn't sound quite as good to me as the original. Not as much 'air' or presence. But not bad for $12 I suppose. Cheaper than the original pressing, I believe.
  10. Not my choice to end it, that's for sure. Hopefully starting a new project with the boys soon.
  11. Kaddisfly bassist Kile made a joke that I should throw in a copy of their 2003 CD 'Did You Know People Can Fly?', because we ordered a bunch of them just before they 'broke up' years ago. They're all in my basement, so I'll actually do that upon request, just PM here.
  12. As I've mentioned, Kaddisfly guitarist Aaron and I have been in a band together for awhile called Madam Officer. We haven't made anything official yet, but seems our recent break has turned into what they call in the biz an 'indefinite hiatus'. I have put the few remaining custom CD copies of our debut EP on Bandcamp. There are only 4 copies of the first 100 in a folding chipboard package, and about 20 of the second run of 100 in a chipboard sleeve. All hand stamped. I created a 30% off code that I would like to share with the VC. If you're interested, you can head to https://madamofficer.bandcamp.com/merch and use the code VF30 upon checkout. You'll receive a free download as well. We also have our latest single available there you can download for free as well. Cheers, Dan Fury
  13. Pressed at Quality Records and only $12. It can be done. Kudos to them
  14. I'd be surprised if it was different since it was pressed in the Netherlands. But, do let us know if it is.
  15. Turns out my roommate ordered this. I checked it out and yeah, as do the MOV titles that Record Industry presses, they don't really look or feel 180 gram. They look quite nice otherwise though. Sounds smoother, listening to side A.
  16. White pressing is stated to be 140 gram. I sincerely doubt that.
  17. Judging from 'Manufactured in the Netherlands' on the label, and the appearance of the deadwax etching, I believe this is pressed at Record Industry, who do all the Music on Vinyl releases.
  18. I don't think I've been outside a record store before it opened aside from RSD before today. No DL code. Surprisingly thin vinyl. $27 - on sale! ... I've got some right channel fuzz on side b and c as well. Should've ordered the EU black. Doubt this is any different than the cd master. Loud as fuck.
  19. Apparently some of the tracks available in the remastered albums are different mixes, mostly with some extra vocal parts here and there. However, instead of being more dynamic, they are louder.
  20. Whole catalog is now available in 24/96 on HDtracks as well.
  21. It showed up on HDtracks. That's promising : http://www.hdtracks.com/catalog/product/view/id/293513/
  22. Can someone read the deadwax and discern where it's pressed? I'm assuming it's Pallas USA or maybe MPO, but I just want to confirm it isn't United.
  23. To clarify, high resolution digital files are certainly still compressed. Sometimes, and ideally, they receive a different mastering treatment that utilizes less compression and limiting, resulting in a more dynamic final product. In terms of file size and bit reduction, they are less 'compressed' in that way. The other benefit is usually an extended frequency response. The 24/96 HDtracks version of Koi No Yokan is definitely more dynamic and sounds better than the standard release. And I'm assuming that is what was used for the vinyl pressing.
