Hum - Downward is Heavenward Reissue
Vinyl Fury replied to highfives's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
This is ridiculous. If I'm able to add it to my cart, I should be able to check out before it's gone. -
I'm an asshole? These are actual questions due to actual circumstances, not opinions.

I've got a couple off-center sides and some non-fill noise on Side 2 track 1. Anyone else? Those typically aren't isolated issues. Sonically, it's really great.

Got the tape. Sounds great, excellent collection of songs. If anyone would be so kind as to share a digital version, I'd appreciate it. -
PO NOW: Hopesfall - Arbiter

the dropcard download is encoded at 160k. Anyone have better? edit: kind soul hooked me up. Who does 160 anymore?! -
Well, I found at least a couple dozen copies of the Humania EP in the basement as well. For those of you aware of the Taproot inspired era of their sound before they listened to El Cielo it's on discogs for $6 now. If you'd like a copy of it or Did You Know, I'll include one or the other free if you'd like.

I have to imagine that in order to license it, we'd have to end up selling at least a few hundred to break even, and that's just not expected. And hopeless definitely won't do it on their own. Believe me, it's all been talked about several times. If they ever resurrect, it will be talked about again.

We all would love it. Its just a numbers game, really. If there would have been a bigger response to Horses Galloping, or they would have been in a position to tour behind it, it would have been a greater possibility. But the necessity of dealing with Hopeless and investing money just keeps it being something that would be cool to do.

I started a topic in the sale/trade thread, but just so all interested parties here are aware: It appears the internet believes that Kaddisfly's independent debut 'Did You Know People Can Fly?' is out of print and worth asking $30-$50 for. This is untrue, as I have boxes of them in my basement. I was their tour manager and all around 6th man for years, and I am currently in a band with guitarist Aaron Tollefson (UMBRELLAMAN), and all the leftover merch we had after they entered their hiatus has been in our house for years. There are CD copies of their Hopeless albums, as well as some shirts. But the Did You Know CDs are now available on discogs for $8 - https://www.discogs.com/Kaddisfly-Did-You-Know-People-Can-Fly/release/2728318 You can also email me - [email protected] if you have a shirt size you're interested in or other CDs you want to add and we'll work it out. Just wanted to let anyone here know who might be interested, as the album is apparently hard to find now. Cheers, Dan

Hi there. I'm Dan, a long time VC member. I'm currently in a band called Umbrellaman and we just released our debut EP 'Volcano Beach' with a limited cassette run. You'll also find it on all the streaming platforms. While we are a fairly new project, our pedigree includes Kaddisfly, Water & Bodies, and Madam Officer. The name Volcano Beach comes from our inside joke that our band sounds 'like we take you to the beach and then throw you in a volcano'. Think Foals meets Smashing Pumpkins. That's the general idea. http://umbrellamanband.bandcamp.com You can download it for free if you'd like, or use the code VF20 to get 20% off the cassette. Cheers, Dan / Ghost Whiskey

Mine came in separate mailers, and they had different shipping dates. Blood is sounding good. Summer Days was hella dished. -

PO NOW: Glassjaw - Material Control (12-1-17)

Was hoping that bass guitar panned left like it is in New White Extremity wouldn’t be an album wide mix choice, but after listening to Shira, it seems it is. Killer song though, damn. -
PO Now: The Used - The Canyon 10/27
Vinyl Fury replied to underwaterzoo's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
They sent out album downloads to ticket holders. Nice sales bump tactic there. Why are there 17 full length tracks?! Highly unnecessary. -
Finally got this in hand. Previous poster was right in that it is slightly quieter than most, I turned my master volume up about a notch higher than usual. But, in this case it's a great thing. It's clear there isn't a whole lot of dynamic compression, and no crazy gain limiting. The drums are very punchy, surprisingly so at times. Wide sound stage. Thick in all the right places. 'It's been a lot of fun rebuilding this record at Abbey Road from the unlabelled original tapes. Frank Arkright has done a wonderful job. We hope you can hear the new found air, space and definition in this new version. Not to mention the BALLS.' - Nailed it. Especially for how affordable this was, it's a very satisfying purchase. I hope we see this done to subsequent albums, of which I still don't have any on vinyl.

John Mayer - The Search for Everything
Vinyl Fury replied to nardes's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
2xLP, 45rpm, single jacket. At $30, it's too damn expensive. But, it does sound quite good. -
It's certainly something in the cutting process, but I have many records pressed there that sound great, and certainly no worse than their digital counterpart. I haven't found sound quality to be a regular issue with GZ. I'm usually quite pleased. But it sounds like there was even more gain reduction applied and too much of a high frequency roll off on this one.
